Kayla is too young to know, but every male sim in TS1 base game wore a speedo, and the colour options were lime green hot pink and fluoro purple. So Mortimer's swimwear is a VERY clever throwback.

As a Canadian I can't deal with how underdressed some of the cold weather outfits are, my sims need hats, scarves, and boots as well as coats and pants or I'm convinced they'll die lmao

I’ve always wondered why townies looks can’t be generated from the styled looks category. At least the outfit would make sense.

I wish we could save styled looks too, and all of them could be used for each randomly generated sim. Maybe we could even choose a couple of traits for each styled look, and the game would pick that look if a generated sim had those traits, matching their personality.

I always give my married sims a wedding ring with every outfit. I also give socks to all the closed-toe outfits. I just don't want them to get blisters.
edit to add that this made me sound like I'm nice to my sims. I killed one of my sims' ex-husband at her wedding to the man she cheated on him with and her entire family laughed as he died, except for her two kids with her first husband, who were also there and devastated.

they added hot and cold weather outfits to the basegame when seasons came out but it took 3+ years for them to make the calendar that came with seasons basegame🤦♀️

They added it so that when they made future packs and added new townies they’d have specific outfits. Also so every sim you download on the gallery that doesn’t include seasons doesn’t just have a randomized outfit

We weren't allowed to wear anything above the knee and sadly high waters went out of style right before my time, so it was jeans every day. They keep schools ridiculously cold so I always had to bring a jacket. I live in Texas.
My mom used to get mad at me when she picked me up from middle school any time it was hot (which I live in Southern California, so frequently hot) and I was wearing my hoodie. “DID YOU WEAR THAT ALL DAY?” like yes woman calm down. Idk why she was so personally offended by it lmao. Not like I was hiding some beautiful hand knit shirt she labored over. Moms are weird.

Right? That was the style in the 2000’s. Every girl had a striped shirt that was wayyyy too tight, a cropped jacket and pleated skirt. Even better if the skirt and jacket were denim. Extra points if you layered up shirts. Haha.

I wish they generated the townies outfits for hot and cold from the EA custom outfit section in CAS, also wish we could save our own custom outfits (including makeup and accessories) so they would generate our pre set outfits for them
Also the worst thing about only having the basegame is that there was a time when all of my kids’ generated cold weather outfits were the towel. THE TOWEL. Because that’s one of the few full-body outfits 🤦🏻♀️

Kayla, you missed making Cassandra like the color purple. Her room is COMPLETELY purple! Also, fwiw, her style is very reminiscent of late-2000s/early-2010s teenage girl fashion, which is likely the developers' inspiration. She honestly looks like every girl from my high school.

I don't have that many problems with the rings, but every freaking townie always wears the turbans/headdresses from City Living, especially children and it always looks completely out of place bc they're made so it looks like your sim is bald underneath.
That’s been happening with my townies too and I don’t even have city living!
I wish we could make our own styled looks so, if we ever can’t be bothered to pick outfits we’ll have some that actually make sense and also I wish townies got styled looks.
I've actually been trying to give my townies some new outfits and change up their hairstyles a bit too! so far I've given 4 townie family's a make over, and these are: the Langrabbs (I also gave them 2 poodles, I think it's fitting), the Goths, the Strangervill airplane guy and the Kim-Lewis family
Since they mentioned they were gonna go back and redo many of the base game families...I wonder if they'll actually update their hot/cold and likes/dislikes....
I'm 100% that's what they meant they were changing, or rather "updating".

In one save of mine Mortimer was my Sim's ex. I made the sim go on a date at a park *really* far away from the main lot so they wouldn't be disturbed. In the middle of the interactions, I spot someone in the distance walking closer. "Surely it can't be Mortimer," I think. I mouse over him. It is. "Surely he isn't coming this way," I think. In the next 20 seconds I watch in horror as he hikes up a remote desert mountain to take the only free space on a park bench next to his ex, who is currently trying to rebound from him with someone else.
All this in some goofy-ass neon colored hot weather getup. This was before I knew about what caused the random outfits, so I thought he lost his mind.
My game has Harley Quinn cc in it. And my sims love to mix and match all of her outfits I have for her. They especially love to wear the bubble gum, bat, and gun accessory that came with it.
I was just thinking about the likes and dislikes today as I was revving up the pancake household today. Like, I can just see Bob hating pink when Eliza has an entire room full of pink. 😂

My townies would always generate with the same cc hair in obnoxious colors and I ended up removing it from the game even though I really liked it. A true tragedy.
Warning with the easybake oven, Kayla, if your using the packages with directions, you want to check if everythings actually done with a fork or something afterwards. Actually, you wanna check if things are actually baked all the way with an easybake no matter what your making. They aren't exactly powerful. But they are fun, and that's what matters most, so I hope you have lots of fun with it.
The eyeball ring is the wide ear preset of randomizing accessories in CAS. You can’t escape it. You just can’t. Ever.

The accessory thing is from the randomizer, it randomizes every category and accessories are their own category

EA did announce that they are doing a LORE UPDATE on all townies, fron every town, which is deffinitely exciting for TS4 and most deffinitely a dream come true for many. I really would LOVE to see memories added again, we have sentiments which are temporary but a more permenant memory system would be very cool, especially if it influenced the sentiments system.

I've been playing in the same game save for so long because of my 100baby legacy challenge so all the original townies have died so besides the goth family and the pancakes who were some of the other townies in Willow Creek so I can redownload the houses and townies
I wear black all the time and long sleeve shirts so like- It can be 90 degrees outside but I won't give up my black aesthetic.
