I'm sorry to say that Spit_flyer... but. The reality is this isn't the first video i've seen throughout the years regarding these glaring issues within the game, or the marketing strategy of gaijin. As usual you are 100% right about the topic, as so the rest of the CCs on their own videos. Problem is, this all changes nothing. There is nothing to be done, we as a community failed to help, fix this situation years ago. Actually we've tried but the company found ways to silence people, or just outright punish anyone trying to bring light to their ways of dealing with these things.
But most importantly their marketing strategy is justified. How come i say that? Just look at War thunder Steam chart page to see the graph for active players. In the past few years the player numbers have quadrupled... And then you and many other CCs say that "The game is dieing, they are killing the game" Yes and no. Yes they are killing parts of the game, and No becouse there are still a massive influx of new players (paying customers) as most people are coming to play tanks. They buy shiny new premiums, play a little and realise the CAS problem of ground forces.. They might endure, or leave.. but then 4 new players join their places. And at the end who wins? Yes... Gaijin. Till the money flows, the game won't be changed, and won't be fixed. That simple.
And even then... if the flow of money reduces? Just let the game run as long as it's profitable then they'll close curtains.. But until then, just look at the steam charts.

@@maccarr9923 Last I saw those things aren't exactly speed demons compared to IRL jet capability. Additionally, just cause the aircraft is pulling 40G's does not necessarily mean the missile targeting it has to pull 40G's. Worst comes to worst the Raptor or whatever facing it can just run away.

The BR system has been stretched beyond breaking point. WT is at its heart, a WW2 flight sim with ground and naval units added. A balancing system intended to cover a 5 year period is now expected to cover 60+ years. Vehicles that are decades apart are placed at the same or similar battle ratings. You cannot reduce the performance of a vehicle to a single notch on a scale that progresses with .3 increments and sees vehicles face opponents from a full 1.0 ahead. It's rediculous.

Yeah, the game was great when it was just a WWII flight sim ‘ish’. No idea why they started adding all this other crap aside from they needed to make money I guess.

Honestly, I was pissed when I first hit 5.0-6.0 for Germany, and was having WW2 tanks having to square off against cold war Era vehicles. I get that Germany had alot of vehicles, but it ruins the joy of getting a Tiger II, just to get destroyed by a tank that came into being ten to twenty years after it ended service. Ironically, Naval has a hilarious example with the G2 Japanese ship. It faces off against WW2 Era vessels, while it is rocking a chain gun and is an extremely mobile modern boat. Like how is that good?
Honestly, I hated playing Germany as AR 234B because I don't feel it belonged at 6.0. It is easily caught up to by prop planes, unless it drops load, which it also has a small load, and has no way to defend itself. Just because it has a jet engine, doesn't automatically make it go up a BR, if anything, I don't think it should be in the game.
@@kwilliams3161 Gaijin doesn't give a single shit about what people ask for. People have been asking for BR decompression, a ground only mode, better map rotation etc etc for years and Gaijin don't care.
Go visit the forums. They are full unanswered feature requests, polls and complaints. Whenever Gaijin announce BR or Economy changes there is a backlash and they do them anyway.
There is one and only one reason they added post war jets and cold war era tanks - money.
GR3 is a perfect example of "we only care for stats" literally other than a model variation this jet functions the same as the AV8C...... in both flares, missiles, rwr and flight performance yet the GR3 goes up while the AV8C stays at 9.7...... (and before people go on about GR3 carries more bombs, gaijin do not balance vehicles based on there ground capabilities, this was mentioned some time back) im not even sure gaijin at this point can hide how truly fucked "just looking at stats are" M48 situation alllllllllll over again with the GR3 and AV8C

Flying the mig 19 is pain because of the all aspect missiles, but holy ****. Moving it down to 9.3 is bloody insane

yup the same reason the Su-7s dont get moved is because if you put them in the 8.0 bracket they would dominate like they used too before missiles became the norm for 9.0

Yeah had this thought when they announced the T2 prem. Why would i buy an aircraft with Aim9-Es and no Flares at 9.7?! That sounds like a horrendously unfun experience in the current meta

one developer, expansive worlds, took it to the extreme. and although i played the game for many years over thousands of hours, the time came when i realized that the frustration exceeded the fun. as a consequence, i deleted the game. what a liberation that was. i can only recommend it to everyone. no matter how much time and money you invested, it's not worth sticking to such a game. that's the only language developers understand.

Gaijin uses statistics rather than an aircraft’s performance and it literally butchered wt’s br system especially AIR RB, one DAMN GOOD example of this is the XP-50, this thing not only can compete in 5.3, it can butcher the whole zero line, and even some later models of the 109’s, this thing has an ridiculous climb rate combined with an AIRSPAWN, and it can turn better too, and has better cannons but with lesser ammo.
F-89 at 6.7 is the most, hands down, stupid decision people can make. Not only will It make 6.7 even worse, the whole damn br will be unplayable.
0 iq american air rb pilots isn’t an excuse to drop the already undertiered F-89 (that can go up to 8.3 and still be fine and powerful). Also another problem with this is that planes like the P-51H and the F2G exists. Both have awesome climb rate (with the F2G having worse but still good) and outrun everything that isn’t a jet. I play the H Mustang myself i know how overpowered it is. The F-89 at 6.7 combined with the F2G and the H mustang will make the matchmaker go US vs US every match with the players not playing the US will just be useless.
Edit: like seriously. F-89 at 6.7 will start a war thunder forum civil war with american mains trying to justify the br of the F-89 while the players that are actually sane will say they need to get help.
I keep getting battles against supersonic aircraft with modern missiles when I play Sabres!
PG-02 and SKR-7 and that Russian paper ship in naval are good examples of this.

I'm convinced PG-02 owners only bought the vehicle BC they're shit at everything else and need a game mode where they can just club everyone with ease.
if you havent noticed, gaijin broke the swift f7's missiles to just veer off to any direction other than the one youre pointing at, has made its repair cost completely unreasonable, and now makes it face things with all aspect missiles with 30g overload, when it rips at >10gs. it used to be one of my favourite planes, and now its just become rubbish and i doubt anyone wants to play it, so it will stay at 8.7 with broken (not in a good way) missiles, and fight stupid missiles.
When he asked if you have seen a Lightning F6 I was like I love that plane but then realized I’m most likely the only player in all of war thunder that likes to play the English rocket. I have had to bear the brunt of the aim9L problem and I have just pushed through very painfully. It hurts my soul because the lightning is my favorite plane ever and gaijin just threw it in the trash. :(
I bought the Saudi Lightning before even thinking about what kind of planes it faces because I just wanted the plane so much. What a mistake that was...

Playing 9.3 Sweden was the most frustrating experience I have ever had in the game. 95% of the games was uptiered into a10's and su25's playing a plane that handles like a brick and without flares. Not to mention the F5C.

Honestly, an idea has been going around in my head, i just hope that gaijin makes sub-tree's divided by "era" so we have the WW2 theatre, the korean war theatre, the vietnam war theatre etc... and just make it so these planes can never meet each other.
But as we know the purpose of these br changes in the first place is to make it impossible to grind without a premium, everyone wants to get into jets as soon as possible, and i can understand the people who just buy their way to the tomcat or the M2K (i got to the F4E without premium and the grind was insane). So we are kinda going around in circle's here, honestly i am just done with top tier air rb, its always the same music playing, i have had much more fun playing tanks and take out my top tiers only in sim (thank you SAS for allowing me to use mouse and keyboard)
What would you think about reducing the br range from 1.0 (3br steps) to 0.7 (2br steps)? My thought: it wouldnt be as good as decompression but still better than nothing.

Which, if you read it again cancels each other out, because the first 10.0 facing 11.0s gives the 11.0 planes in that mach a full 1.0 downtier, not 0.7

Doesn't solve the whole problem, but it's definitely a step in the right direction.
I guess they're only thinking about the current matchmaker. Been playing a lot of mig 19S at 9.7 recently. Haven't seen one downtier in almost 30 games because of all the premiums at 10.3 and 10.0. Actual pain to try to grind out any modules as it's pretty much stock.
Decompression is good, but sounds like the best solution would be to make armaments factor into BR so planes like the A-10 go higher when they bring high performance missiles
Mig21spsk recently became insane because of the a10s audition of customizable load outs, you can now carry 2 r60s and a gun
7:02 is why the Su-11 is still at 7.0
At this point the only way to fix BR is to follow a simple method:
Vehicle underperforming? Move everything else up.
Vehicle performing average? Move it up.
Vehicle overperforming? Move it up more.
Basically the only way to decompress properly, we can't have a game where the M2A2 is at the same BR as a T-26, BT-5 or M8 LAC etc. Compression is that bad even at reserve tier.
I bet that any "slow down" in the matchmaking would be immediately offset by players flocking back to the game after one of the MAJOR ISSUES is fixed.
B-I was a good example of a plane with low player counter, bad stats since it didn't have enough fuel to matter in where they take the statistics, but then it absolutely dominates anywhere from 6.3 to 8.0 in SQB (when it was originally 6.3) It still has performance matching mid 8.0 jets or greater, and SQB's are short distance and extremely decisive victories where plane excels at.
I might say a bs but I think they'd need to make the range of the BR way wider, so that many type of jets end up only against those of the same caliber, at least we will finally stop to see supersonics with R60s against subsonics with no flares. I think if they didn't have only 11.3 as highest BR but idk, something like 20, there would be a bigger variety??? As I said, mine could be a bad idea but I think this could solve somehow the very small range of BR and will solve the problem of subsonics against supersonics? Idk if this will affect the time of joining a match though

My honest reaction to this information:
Milan is 9.7
It faces A-10's with all aspect 30G missiles
It faces Su-25's with all aspect 30G missiles
It faces Harrier's with good long range 18G missiles
The Milan has no flares, is ground spawned, and gets 2 AIM-9B's. It's an attacker variant of a Mirage, it cannot turn for S**T under 450 knots.
Also the Mirage III is at 10.3 and regularly sees 11.3 yet also has no flares
The broken premiums have a cascading effect that compresses the battle ratings below them. The simple fix would be to just move them higher in BR, but that would mean fewer sales and therefore less profit.

Would much prefer struggling against something that is better within my era than fighting something 20 years ahead.
Every 6 months I go back in BR a little bit. I can't play my G.91 YS (or Y) anymore, can't play my J29F or D anymore. Now I'm playing my MiG-15Bis ISH at 8.3. I wish I could sell my Mirage 2000, FGR2, all my 9.3+ planes.
Half the problem with the br system is how restrictive it is. Instead of 1.0, 1.3, 1.7, and 2.0, meaning a total of 3 slots per number, instead it should be 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and that gives 5 slots per number. Would be way more open and give a lot more options for balance. Maus should have never been removed. It just shouldn’t have to deal with such a terrible system.

I agree with your points, I also feel like im kinda burned out of playing Air RB... mixed team deathmatch all day long are boring. Id love to see new game modes... like a mode without markers and guns only? idk but they could do so many things...

@@kwilliams3161 if they could make a halfway house between sim and air rb that would be great. Bigger maps and more objectives from sim, no markers etc.
Basically sim with 3rd person view and ability to use mouse flight (maybe disable instructor for everyone that usually leaves it on on RB) and a lower reward would be my ideal.
Maybe even the sim spawning system rather than the one and done of air RB.
It would give bomber players something more engaging to do and would actually make people use radar etc for acquiring targets rather than “oh a guy on my team is within 5km of an enemy I’m 30km away from, of course I should have real time positional info on the guy”.

im on a quest to fully spade all the tech trees, and i've come quite far. however in recent years i've made an annotation to that, only the original tech trees (only props and early rank Vs) for this reason. i have up to 10.3/10.7 but those vehicles are almost stock i've neglected them that much
I for one love eating an all aspect to the face in my MiG 19PT or, unable to maneuver out of the way of any missiles because, you know, no flairs
I feel the same about the a10 and su25. The Israeli Mirage was my of my favorite planes until they added the Su25 and buffed the 9Ls. Now it’s basically unplayable. You can maybe get 1 kill with the radar missile then die to r60m that you can’t even dodge

Yep, wat thinder has a wide variety of planes to group them. Mig15 17 with sabres, spits with fw and bf. Hariers ws yaks and jaguars etc.
On the F-104 BR change, i'm not sure if Gaijin disabled this but there was a hard cap to the BR, you could not get a downtier and I think the same still applies except with the cap at 9.7 now since I only ever see 9.7s and above
You should try playing 8.7 against and with full 9.7 Teams
the main problem that military vehicles made to counter opponent one. So it made that almost every new vehicle is better than opponent's one, it is just impossible to balance in game like WT
Pretty soon we'll see spitfire mk24 vs supersonics. I would not even be surprised.
the problem with moving things down is there is always a fixed floor of 1.0. if you move ANYTHING down it will compress everything below it, but if you move things up then the ceiling can go up forever really, just add more BR levels.

Good to see a UA-camr with a 200+ping - subscribed :) Now do Realistic tanks and how ping makes a difference :) On this - the BR system is fundamentally broken - BR's are now only there to fit premiums in.
I love flying planes in this game but their mismanagement of the br system makes me play less, i typically stick to low to mid brs and i fly bombers offensively (as in like gunships)
In the few games I played the M2000 in downtiers, it’s so stupidly overpowered no one can do anything to it before I get 4 kills with my missiles.
And I can’t even imagine a f14 in a downriver shooting down everyone in one go with its Aim57
Anyone remember when Helicopters and Modern tanks were first shown off in a (if I remember correctly) april fools event? Everything went to 12.0-14.0. That was perfect. Put the modern bs more than a fee BRs ahead of things from the 50's and 60's.
Gaijin already had it figured out, they just don't care to fix it. Current horrible battle ratings is how so many premiums are sold. Same with Gaijin constantly lowering rewards, it's how they sell premium time and vehicles.
Honestly, even if I had a Gaijin/War Thunder "press" account with literally every vehicle unlocked with all modifications unlocked... I would just never play at any BR where jets are common. It's just not fun. I constantly go back to lower BRs *_because it's actually fun to play at those tiers._*
One of the reasons I started playing WT back in the day with planes only was that ever since I saw the Me262 in a history book as a kid I thought they looked amazing and that it seemed to be a hell of a time to use a jet vs props, boy was I to be disappointed, I just have up on the ww2 jets of Germany as every single match was an uptier. It facing the Korean War jets is just ridiculous as well, I ended up being the prop from the scenario I had envisioned.
Got Ju288 and bombed my way through to the migs, currently on my third mig and still no missiles or flares, meanwhile most of what I face does get one or the other. It is just ridiculous how poorly balanced the BR system is as certain nations are borderline useless in some BRs and modes. Is it intentional to force players to buy premium or p2w vehicles i wonder?
Dude you makes soo many good points that I wish Gajiin would listen to. But again it because of their stupid prems like the su25 and A10 that I can’t enjoy some of my planes. The J35d feels so unplayable because it either faces sarh or all aspects 😭

I always wondered about WT's battle ratings. It just seemed to me it would lead to what I call 'lumpy distribution'. Which means things get lumped together that shouldn't be.
I also wonder if BRs should be based on armament. A plane has a basic BR that is raised depending on what guns, ordinance, or missiles it equips.
Just some thoughts.
I remember playing the F104A when it was introduced at 9.7... It was so stupid overpowered

I also liked the idea of bringing the 152C3 to 6.3 it certainly performs as well as a P51h and is better than an f2g or its H variant for that matter. (/cynism end)
I have zero clue as to why they did that with the C3. Maybe it sucks so bad as a prop, it might as well face early jets. It certainly turns as bad as some of them...

The problem is fixing around the BR system when they can rework the whole god damn thing, I would say a good Improvement is switching the .3 and .7 ratings and making them .2 .4 .6 .8 making the whole thing compressed and not simply moving the BRs higher,
Thank you for talking about 6.0 hell. I wish I could use my f2g1 but all I can do is fight ai planes which does get me a lot of money but the point still stands.
I try to take my Hornet out to deal with 288 herds lol and half the time it matchmakes me ONTO the German team

Climb rate comparable to 4.3 planes. Turn rate like heavy fighter, energy disappears the second you get it. If not that 30mm i bet someone would sue Gajin for scam on 6k GE. Also, it is a bomber interceptor by design, yet ofc its fighter in game, no air spawn, but ta154 (i meant 152, but 154 also beats you in nearly anything apart from tie on turn rate :| how nice...) can have air spawn, why not, ofc, it should have it, by design, its also bomber interceptor BUT damn, performance wise it beats you in everything, speed, turn, climb, handling, energy retention and we have tie on guns ._.
So ye, ki-87, if not that ju288 spam, that thing would be absolutely screwed.

I quit playing right before the nuclear update because it already went downhill since the launch of supersonic. Got back because a friend of mine was playing as well only to find that not only did they messed up the matchmaking even more, they also managed to make EVERY ASPECT of progression in the game horrible.
Here's a suggestion, maximum 0.7 uptier and down tier instead of 1.0

The way WOT used to do it when i played it on console years ago was that premiums had 'favorable match making' and so they could only face at most a half uptier. This made the vehicles more favorable to play for players to want to buy but also did not make it so that they were overpowered against their equally rated peers, just that you had no way of being at the same disadvantage gap via a full uptier. Granted had they stuck to only that they would have been fine but they also sold magical premium ammo that had extra pen/damage and that ruined the game for me personally. But as far as buying premium vehicles there are plenty that were really worth the money just to be able to hop into knowing after a string of bad luck uptiers. It would also help gaijin sell and balance vehicles like the Maus had they used this system before and released it as a premium. Its a vehicle that suffers too much against uptiered modern rounds and tanks, and is strong in a full down tier. Favorable MM would allow the tank to have a niche where it is better more often to entice people to use and purchase it (if it was a premium). There are a ton of vehicles that are too weak in uptiers, or too strong in full down tiers but that would be the other half of the problem.
Wonder if be decompression could be fixed if they make BR’s like 1.0-1.1-1.2 etc up to 10.0 then make be spread as .3 or .5, been giving it some thought and it’d be a rough start but could turn into something nice. Hell implement this new br’s but keep all current BR’s then raise or lower them accordingly
I know this may sound stupid but I think that planes should be put into time zones so the same planes from the same time should be in the same braket. For example the A 10 should be up at top teir. Probably dumb idea but yea
No its not exactly what should be happening, level jets and tanks on technology not hard stats, if it has the firepower to level a city the countermeasures avionics to protect itself, ballistic computers, CCIP and the best air to air missiles it probably should be top tier...But nope, because Gaijin only balances aircraft on the speed and missiles/cannons. As the A-10 is slow it gets a joke BR.

The problem with premiums is that if they're not overpowered, then they won't sell well. And if you make them overpowered (like Gaijin does), you sell a lot but you can't fix them later without risking a lawsuit.
Wargaming made that mistake a long time ago and they learned their lesson.
I love playing the F86. But man it is painful with the missiles. I started sending chats to the opposing team asking them no to missile kill me. guns fine. But I literally have no way to counter those missiles and everyone knows it. I noticed a serious drop in the number of times I was taken out by missiles immediately. Such bullshit that I have to beg for mercy from the other team to make playing one of my favorite planes kind of fun.

Even the lower BR's are broken. I mean, a perfect example is your video on the American Ki-61. Sitting at 3.7 but just clubs most of the planes around it's BR. I'm terrible at Air RB and even I am able to get an Ace in that plane.

maybe bring back those BR barriers. remember 9.7-10.0 barrier? when the lightning at 9.7 was quite OP, along with the mig19 or whatever 9.7s were at that time. then 10.0 fought with up to 10.3 or 10.7 iirc. now do it again at 9.0, 10.0, and 11.0. PERFECT.
It would be great if the Snail used developers to design their battle ratings, but for the most part, its just metrics and algorithms. Sure they are ignoring the Su-25K, on purpose as you have said, but the automated changes are the far more common ones we see that seemingly don't make sense.
They should add BR skip like 7.0-9.0 planes dont have missiles and then straight to 11.0-12.0 planes with out any countermeasure should not fight super sonic planes with top AAM
F104vsF86 problem is what i call the "BiplanvsJet" problem..

the entire issue in these situations is that the f86/"biplane" is stuck praying the f104/"jet" is brain damaged and will throw the fight, if they have any shred of mental capacity they might not be able to kill you, but youre definitely never gonna be able to threaten them in any way, shape, or form
No it wont the F-104 can just energy trap the F-86, the F-86 can turn and dodge but the F-104 will win easily if they are competent. Likely though the F-86 will die when they are dogfighting a G.91 or MiG 17 and don't expect an F-104 to come screaming out the clouds at near Mach 1.5 and vaporised in a hail of Vulcan

In just my honest opinion, I think a good idea would be to not only look at the BRs and Ranks, But also the year that each Aircraft was introduced and having that kind of approach to it. The F-86 is a very good example from personal experience. Most of the time, im put up against everything that has some kind of missiles and it unfortunately it leads to an issue where its just not fun anymore. so i try to see if i can move up or down in the ranking system to try and feel like i can do something, but its never the case

I used to love that 9.7-10.3 br, it was my favorite matchmaking range in the game because of the not super overpowered planes and how it was faster paced gameplay without the top tier missiles and strats. but gaijin had to introduce like 5 fucking prems with 30+ G missiles with a ton of flares to fight the stuff that was just getting flares and starting to have missiles going over 15-20 G. Gaijin had a great game but needs to fucking balance it before that place becomes even more of a premium playground like 6.0/.3.
Another problem war thunder can't seem to grasp is that they NEED gaps in their BR rating so that planes WITHOUT a certain capability like flares for example, never have to get clubbed by things WITH flares. If BR suddenly stopped at 8.7 then picked back up at 10.0 then you could effectively separate battles into tiers and spread the planes out more effectively. You could have all the subsonic jets never fighting supersonic jets, all jets with missiles but no flares fighting other jets with missiles but no flares. They just need to remove the BR bridges and spread almost everything out and completely separate them all by capability, but they're too obsessed with que times.
