When it comes to vintage vs modern, I honestly think both are so sick. I'm always going to lean vintage (wotc/ex era) because those cards have more important attributes to me, but I appreciate modern just as much for what it has to offer. I came back to the hobby just as Lost Thunder & Celestial Storm were released, and the majority of sets since I returned have been strong, way more hits than misses. Cards like the Flareon V SWSH179 promo, and the Mewtwo SR from Shining Legends, are in my top 30 favorite cards of all time. But I'm pretty sure the other 28 are all wotc/ex era lol. I feel like at least 90% of collectors are always going to be partial to the generation of cards they grew up with. That's just how it goes with most things in life
That’s a really nice answer. I think we think quite similarly as although I love modern cards, the older cards will always have a place in my top tier list. Those promos are so nice and that test tube mewtwo is absolutely a gem. Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed reading your response
Thanks for answering my question! I should probably give Groudon more credit than I do, because it is a very nostalgic pokemon for me. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire were my favorite games, basically tied with Silver/Gold. When they first came out, I got Ruby, because Groudon looked badass - my first impression as a kid was that Groudon looked like a fire evolution of Tyranitar. Unfortunately, maybe a year or so later, I accidently went swimming in my friends pool with Ruby in my pocket lol. So I ended up eventually getting Sapphire as a replacement. Then LeafGreen was the last pokemon game I ever played before I "grew out" of the hobby. RIP my Ruby version
That’s an unfortunate but I’m sure it was a memorable story. Had similar experiences swimming with my cards in my pocket lol. I do kinda see the resemblance between Groudon and Tyranitar but I just remember they made groudon seem so strong in the show so I had to have the card. Eventually, I lost the card but finally purchased the ex era tin promo back after all these years. Every time I look at that card, it reminds me the simple days!
ah I never saw the anime during gen 3, but I'm actually in the process of watching the whole anime - up until they retire Ash, to see what I missed. I just started a couple weeks ago, so I'm still on the first season. @@TCGCollector
That’s a great idea. Where are you watching it? I’ve tried to watch from the start of the anime and see if I can catch up but I can’t seem to find all the episodes that were released throughout the years
