It's so interesting seeing how people feel about the game. I had absolutely none of the problems people talk about until like the second to last campaign?? That's the only time I've genuinely thought of using cheats. Other than that I loved everything. I never really minded the tutorial friend breaking the fourth wall just whenever he felt like it
i think iggy is mostly in the tutorial to make it clear that theyre an ally to the player, instead of something you have to try to hit with a spear. that being said i agree it shouldnt show controller inputs, it never occurred to me how faulty that is
this is a really good spoiler-free introduction to a game honestly. „go in blind“ games can work sometimes, but giving new players this kind of starting information that doesn’t really spoil anything but just explains basic things you should keep in mind is something so valuable for games that have such an open approach to everything! especially for people who do not play a lot of games and aren’t as used to the intuition for more exploration that comes with that.
Funny thing, I didn't know that the yellow worm was guiding me on my original playthrough. I thought things were just appearing in midair, and the yellow guy was just a creature.
I actually had a very similar experience! I tried the game blind and got stuck in drainage system. After a couple of hours without progress i completely gave up until downpour released.
This. I downloaded the game when i read some comments on YT about the most complex ecosystem and got intrigued. Played a bit as monk, got to drainage system, got stuck at the room with the two hazers and the only passage through the leeches (Which i still have no clue how to get through, the next and last time i visited the area was as the Saint) and quit until i saw more about the iterators and Artificer, which made me try again
This was a really good look at Rain World. I first became interested in Rain World when everyone started releasing videos when Rain World Downpour came out. Then cried over the lore. Then after a while discovered that Rain World Downpour was a thing.
I hate the guide I made it to moon saw the symbol telling me to go this way to reach the guide ended up in the depths thinking I was going the right way
Something thats kind of funny that if we didn’t have the yellow dude I wouldn’t have figured out the tutorial bc of how my tv shows the switch screen lmao
I’ve already spoiled nearly everything to myself, though long ago I watched someone play all of subnautica and managed to play it years later and enjoyed it even if I got flashes remembering what happened as I did stuff so I’ll try it in the future the gameplay seems fun. I think I have a near perfect memory, like nothing completely disappears just gets buried so I won’t forget what I know but as playing it my understanding of the world I’ve got from lore videos wi be uncovered in my mind. I’m going to stop watching rainworld stuff to forget it.
Very well said! Now i can understand why i just stopped playing the game after around 15 hours of playing. I'll be sure to check out some spoilers lol. Thanks!
I use the wiki on rainworld to guide myself through the regions. And it spoils locations of speical items I found a pearl in [spoilers], a colored pearl, i found it, on my own.
I started to really enjoy the game after I watched a guide on movement in Rain World. Being able to do all those special moves I didn't know about, reach places, and overcome previously impossible obstacles elevated the experience. Then I set up macros for some of the trickiest moves, and my enjoyment went to a level higher.
This video is great. As someone who has been kind of on the fence about maybe trying a video essay type upload and seeing how it goes, this is really inspiring. To see something so hand crafted and well planned put together by such a small creator in relative terms and then have it show up in my recommended page, it makes me want to give it a try. I have had the same experience of quitting rainworld within the first hour, and I think this video might just make me go back for another try :) Good luck with your future content! I'll be subscribing for sure
thank you so much!! And you absolutely should go for it! Video editing is a pain but once you start reaching those final stages it really starts feeling worth it. Actually completing this video has made me immediately want to make more videos! Gotta think of what I could make though hahah. the brain is excited and has too many ideas running around now. It was especially nice making a video again since I want to practice video editing in general more :) Good luck on your next attempt! I hope you can have a lot more fun than the first time around :)
My ONLY complaint with this game is that I have no idea where I’m going. SPOILERS | v I beat the game yet I never once met five pebbles or any iterator besides moon. Even after I met moon, I didn’t know what to do or go so I followed a walkthrough and went to the next part. Immediately ended up going to subterranean and ending the game using drugs to get past the guardians. Currently stuck in the artificer character’s waterfront facility and have no frickin idea where to go because any walkthrough appears to not even have this region in it. That’s it. My only complaint is level structure. Complaining about difficulty is just stupid, and mobility skill ceiling is through the roof which I love.
Waterfront facility for arty is basically just a route towards subterranean. There is a karma gate that leads towards shaded citadel there that will get you back on track. Your goal as arty is to get up to 5p, where you'll learn your next objective. I highly recommend looking up the rain world interactive map if you're stuck map-wise!
Didin't the overseer show a hollogram that kinda looked like 2 chain links after meeting moon? If so then follow it. If not then here's the way: 6ou just gotta go into shaded, beat 2 or more monster kelps, build a spear ladder, climb through the leg and belly, farm max karma and vualla, you're in five pebbles' unfortunate development, you can alsow go to chimney camnopy climb up a wall, do a backflip to throw down and now you can speak to pebs directly though you won't be able to eat a neuron and be glowy
@@deboraluz27 lost me on the first step. Never went into shaded citadel. Also the overseer didn’t show up after I met moon, I’m sure you can guess why judging by it was my first playthrough
@@pancakesareawesome3121 just hold space for a litle while and use movement Keys to move the map, alsow, did you eat one of moon's neurons? That mught explain why the overseer didin't show up again
This makes me question what options I should change. I am using the default options. I did adjust the keyboard layout. Yes I am playing on keyboard. The yellow thing is Iggy.
I actually picked up this game when it first released, but had no idea where to go or what to do. The guide itself was the main issue as that thing would constantly point towards food, enemies, or where you need to go. So after making it to the industrial complex, I quit and didn't come back until Downpour! I don't even know why it peaked my interest again but it I suppose it was calling to me to beat it after stumbling onto animation videos of Rain World (Northflowo to be exact) and since I am a big warrior cats fan, I decided that this time, I would attempt to get used to the controls and sure enough I have already beaten the game as survivor, monk and hunter! Working on the dlc scugs for now. I also think that playing splatoon 3 and getting used to motion controls and all. I am alot more open minded in learning new controls and the funny thing is the slugcat has some many neat movement options that it is honestly bonkers that the game doesn't even attempt to teach you more other than the pounce. I would like to add that maybe just a little bit of hand holding for the player is totally okay. I know you are suppose to feel like a wild animal and trying to survive and all, but hey, just a tiny bit of guidance and fixing the guide would help out a long way cause honestly, the exploration and just running into new creatures (will this creature be friendly or will kill me on site?) that to me is the fun part of the game.
The crazy part about rain world is that... the weakest part of rain world is the gameplay itself. The ecosystem, music, and artistry make it worth it, even if the game itself is endlessly frustrating. Actually enjoying the game is a bonus. This is remedied somewhat by the dlc making it *more* fun to play, but I would argue that the base game is still absurdly difficult and unfair and will drive you nuts due to the horrible clunkiness. Yet, despite all that, the setting is so unique it still feels worth it in the end.
Its funny that your referencing Iggy (the guide) as a major issue when the devs originally weren't gonna add any tutorial but when their playtesters/other player played the game they were so confused the devs were forced to add one. I just find it interesting. And to anyone who is kind of on the fence about playing Rainworld, dont worry about looking stuff up or asking people for help with certain things. People always say that you should play it blind and while i admit that seems like a great experience i will also say that i played through the game while knowing everything about the original 3 slugs (i played through downpour blind which was awesome) and i still had a great time. I agree with everyone else about the beauty and life the game has but i dont discredit the gameplay, Rainworld is only "clunky" to those that dont practice and experiment. Good example, backflip leaping, when i finally got this move consistently it felt like a completely different game and it just gets better as you figure out more tech and ways to deal with enemies. Also, this is probably gonna be something most people wont recommend but i personally recommend you play hunter after survivor. It is gonna be rough but if you step out of that hellfire, everything else is super easy and youll feel like a boss.
this is definitely still not good and im not saying this to defend the choice but the accessibility settings being in the remix menu is bc it wasn’t in the base game until downpour and that quality of life update came out, and everything that isn’t a part of base rain world was crammed into the remix menus.
@@deboraluz27 oh not at all! im obsessed with this game and am trying to learn everything i can (so im checking every nook and cranny.) Its moreso about like… the accessibility menu being easily accessible lmao. idk how to explain this but if the accessibility menu isn’t accessible, it kind of defeats the purpose.

I believe the rain world discord has a set of recommended settings for first time players! I'd say check that out, or use the classic preset :0
