Agreed BUT....so many of these magnificent homes are gutted and replaced with that horribly ugly ultra modern garbage. This house is beyond gorgeous as it is...Maybe whoever buys it won't ruin it.
Spectacular in every way! I hope whoever buys it doesn't change anything. The details are incredible. You can never see this in anything modern. This is perfection! 💯❤️
Hopefully whoever has the money to buy this amazing home doesn't ruin it by removing all the elegant master craftsmanship and ruin it with ultra ugly modern everything...what a sin that would be
NYC townhouse rarely have a garage. When these mansions were built the owners owned separate carriage house nearby. A garage door would disfigure the residence and horses are smelly.
it's a historical house that should be kept to host royalty, heads of state or famous guests. It could also be visited as a museum to explore and enjoy with the help of a guide.Mgnificent but not a place for a home,no matter how rich you are!
Ok, I’m sold. I just need to check my bank account to see if I can make a down payment. They didn’t say how much, but it shouldn’t be more than a few hundred dollars, should it?
That was my thoughts as well plus a commenter mentioned the street is one that is busy most like too much noise plus all the neighbors as well surrounded by such exquisite smh cause it still is perfection✅️
Why gift so much cavernous space to a grand entrance and have guests end up in an underwhelming, relatively small dining room? A daydream of a grand dining hall taking over half of that very long entrance walk is compelled, here-- two framing bench height marble fountains at the grand dining hall entrance...
You have to remember the proportions are what was fashionable in the first decade of the 20th century. the dining room was only for dining in a very intimate way, whereas the entry gallery, and the various reception rooms were meant to be cavernous and allow for large groups of people and parties.
I agree Eg the Downton abbey dining room is longer in case there are more guests. With a palatial space like that, I can’t imagine u have to think: well I can’t have 11 guests. Oops no I can’t have a party for 20:(((
@@CuriouslyBorednot NY alone but many similar mansions in cities like Philadelphia, Baltimore, Boston, etc. The fashion in Gilded Age architecture was more “scaled down” than in earlier eras. Of course there were exceptions. But for grand events etc a family might use a hotel’s banquet hall and ballroom etc, of which there were many in cities like NYC.
There was a time in my life when this would have been my absolute dream home. But given the state of New York City today, I wouldn't want to live in it if it, even if it were free. NYC has become a dangerous cesspool. I have ZERO desire to travel to NYC ever again. I'm happy in my almost waterfront, three bedroom home in one of the safest, cleanest cities in Florida.
You're joking right? Florida's the biggest cesspool in the United States and its only gotten worse With Drump, DeSantis and the maga crowd turning it into a state where civil rights went to die. Of course if you hate lgbtq and black people and like book bans and open carry you may just be right at home. Enjoy your near waterfront property while it's still above sea level and not yet the swamp it will soon be with global warming. Cheers from up north. 😊
LMFAOOOO If I could buy this magnificent house I would. fl-a-duh is sinking thanks to rising water levels and a wannabe dick-tator governor who hasn't done a single thing to help anyone but himself! DeathSantis needs to go and never return. He needs to take Do-Nothing Rubio and Corrupt Rick Scott with him. NYC has the best museums, restaurants, stores, parks and pizza!
A hurricane is a tropical storm with winds that have reached a constant speed of 74 miles per hour or more. The eye of a storm is usually 20-30 miles wide and may extend over 400 miles. The dangers of a storm include torrential rains, high winds and storm surges.
Have you been in NYC or do you just believe the "cesspool" rhetoric on non-news media like FOX? NYC has never been cleaner and the crime rate is at a 25 year low. Crime in NYC is half what it was when Giuliani left office. I go there all the time. My wife and I joke that $10 goes to the first one to spot a homeless person, rat or tent camp. No one wins. If NYC was so bad why would FOX make it their headquarters? All of the Murdochs have expensive homes there. Big Republican donor Ken Griffin recently paid $238M for an apartment, a US record for most expensive home. You sound like Yogi Berra: "Nobody goes there anymore. It's too crowded!"
Bassam Alghanim, a former billionaire and one of two heirs to the Kuwaiti conglomerate Alghanim Industries, is listed as CEO of the entity that purchased the building in 1984, the last time it was on the market. A 2015 permit for renovation work on the home lists Alghanim as its owner, city records show.
As lovely as this is, the furnishings, while vertainly expensive, are too large and contemporary in scale and design, particularly the upholstered pieces. This home would be perfect if it were furnished in period antiques.
I reckon one could stack 50-150000 child-starvation corpses here + if the owners had been literate another 10000 in the non-existent library. Heaven on earth means no Heaven to follow + hell on earth means no hell to follow.
Wow. Hope it stays preserved, well taken care of
The charm is real here! Much prefer this over a boring modern penthouse. This is real class and elegance
Facts and well said💯✅️
That white marble entrance hall is my favourite. I would just sit there all day, don’t really need the rest 😄
I love red brick and limestone exteriors. Especially when there are copper accents that have begun to patina.
I feel the same about the patina, so many words in such an unnoticed decades or centuries process
Exquisite, no words just exquisite beautiful 💯👑
New York has that old money class and buildings we have in Europe. Glad they’re preserved

So did I! At Madison. Always admired it. Busy block. Murray Hill is a great neighborhood.
