I started playing Magic doing limited in Wilds of Eldraine. My favorite color combo by a margin is red/blue. I started watching constructed (or modern or whatever you call this format) sometime before Lost Caverns of Ixalan, and this video has the first red/blue deck I’ve seen on ladder. Amalia is genuinely one of my favourite cards ever, not only is it pseudo-card draw in Orzhov, it's also a lifegain payoff, a card that pumps itself with said lifegain, AND the girl itself is an absolute princess. Just beautiful all around.
Funny yesterday I went back to look at your Amalia deck from last season that was really good already and though oh wow this new Case would work great along with Delaney, I guess Delaney may not be extraction specialist but both work well.
I built this deck a few days ago with a one of Serra Paragon and the new 3 drop that doubles triggers for creatures with power 2 or less. Paragon is obviously just good for if you run into a lot of early removal but also if you have to sac your case it can instantly get it back
Big fan of the Izzet prowess deck, that's exactly the sort of thing I'd try to run. The first deck I built on arena was terrible BW lifegain with pridemate. Now BW lifegain is cleaning up with voice and amalia. My little baby's all grown up.
The closing comment is very important to me. I’m happy to see it has a high win rate against stupid monored. To be honest I’m so sick of having to face monored (last week I had 90% of the matches against monored, no matter what deck I’d play), that it got me sick of standard and I turned to Timeless. I hope standard gets many monored vs orzhov lifegain so maybe monored players will stop playing this stupid no-brainer. I know my hopes and expectations are probably too high but… we never know, right? Thanks once again for the great content, CGB. Much appreciated.
I actually like this deck alot. The synergies are fun and it isn't wheel spinning like some life gain decks. Definitely makes me want to build Amalia in Commander.
The meter doesn’t work but you can cram a ‘Monastary Swiftspear’ into an ‘Evil Woman’ chorus. If ELO’s gonna squeeze that ‘Evil’ for more syllables than it’s worth what’s a few more?
I have crafted this deck and I'm at platinum with a 40 game streak of ZERO MONO RED OPPONENTS. My win rate is terrible but at least I don't get to see them. Thank you, CGB!
I have a monoblack deck called Farm MonoRed, which has a 100% WR against monored, doesn't matter on the play or on the draw. of course, this deck gets clowned in the ladder, because it loses to most everything else, but it is perfect to farm gems and packs in standard events, which are like 70% monored.
I wonder if red players will start adding Giant Cindermaw to their deck, or even splashing some black for Knight of Dusk Shadow if this deck ever becomes popular (and it should).
I wish I had better performance with this decklist, it seems really inconsistent without reliable interaction or just getting screwed no Voice of the Blessed or Amalia draws
i love your content, and i always thought, at first, that the hatred of red was just hyperbole.....but after much arena time logged, i realize that it comes from the heart, as well why its there. and i totally agree, im done with them. from this point forward, i will never miss a chance to wreck red at any cost, even losing to literally everything else. and even the decks that arent designed to do only that will still have a few hate pieces just on principle. keep fighting the good fight.

It's why I stopped playing. If you're playing a graveyard strategy, you'll play against the 1 deck that exiles your graveyard.

i still dont know why kumono doesn't the text of... you know... kumono. When a creature delt damage by kumono would die this turn exile it instead.
I've gotten Amalia to pop in standard. It's pretty great; especially when your voice of the blessed has 10 +1 counters on it and survives as well.

The day before the set dropped, I kinda put this together and felt like I was riding a rocketship with all the racking I was gaining fast.

It means you have the first turn as opposed to going second with one extra draw.

Mono-red always comes out when a new set comes around because that's an ideal time for players to try out new exciting ways to lose to mono-red.

if this is anti-agro, I prefer adding the 3-mana 2/4 flyer that domes the opp for 3 and draws you a card every time they attack with 2+ creatures.

I uate Mono Red so bad (I play Blue/White Control, so I tend to get run over by them), so watching CGB own them is so satisfying to me.
