I've had Ps1, Ps2, Ps3, Ps4, Ps5 throughout the years. But at 52yrs old I'm now having my first experience with PSP and PSVita, Playstation loyal consumer and very happy!
That’s awesome! Hope you’re enjoying both the PSP and Vita. The PSP has physical movies as well in case you didn’t know. For example, I recently picked up The Exorcist and Silence of the lambs!
The PSP was the first “console” I bought with my own money. Playing Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker was one of the best experiences I had in my life. I didn’t know it has a Yakuza game. Thank you.
The PSP will always hold a special place in my heart as in 2012 I took my first flight from the UK to Canada to meet my now wife for the very first time. I got a second hand PSP from my boss at the time and spent the whole flight playing Burnout Legends and watching Die Hard 4 xD
The PSP was my first "big" purchase when I started working, here on Brazil they were quite expensive, not to mention the ds was even more expensive. Thank you soo much for this vid, reminded me the good times I had with my old psp ❤
Saved my money as well and bought one mainly to play Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops but definitely fell in love with that little handheld and got many more games for it down the line. Still have it to this day!
A video with at least 8 hours of work into editing alone! ❤❤ You know it's gonna be worth it and show the polish, dedication and experience only Kai can provide!
This brings back old memories. Back then my close friend/neighbor had bought a psp & i bought a ps2. We made a schedule over who would own/use which device depending on the particular time.
The PSP was / is such a great machine. If you look at it today, you somehow don't see, that it celebrates its 20th birthday soon. I remember that I bought it, when I saw that it also plays homebrow (I used the first tif exploit that was released to launch a homebrew launcher, later "Fanjitas Boot loader" / later eloader that was very popular, and later some firmware downgraders.) But I never used it for pirated games, only for homebrew, and a second PSP for originals that I bought on UMD discs. I also still have this funny "Talk Man with microphone" or other great games like Ultimate Ghost n Goblins, Ridge Racer, Hot Pixel, Burnout Legends, also the Spiderman 2 movie and a lot more. Still prefer the PSP instead of the Vita, but the Vita was also great. Thanks for this 50 facts video about the PSP, bringing back so many memories.
The PSP1000 was the first new handheld I bought with my own money from working at part time at Burger King waaay back in the day. I bought Hot Shots Golf and Darkstalkers. I freaking loved it (and still do). I remember closing my room, turning off the lights, connecting the earphones it came with and just enjoying sessions of Darkstalkers. I still have it today, and have been meaning to upgrade to an IPS screen, but the soldering part of it is so tiny and difficult to make the screen work. The original screen ghosts really bad now. Anyways, love the video!
I was late to the PSP - buying mine in 2010 when they released the Big Boss camo bundle. Thanks to this video I can see the PSP-1000 camp version is considered more rare (66 rarity score vs. 55). There were hackers jailbreaking the PSP early on and the portable community today (Steamdeck to Ayo, retroid imports) owe a lot more to the PSP than to the DS (which never had good online implementation).
Still have my PSP and all the games/movies. Haven’t played it in like a decade but I can’t part with it aha. Genuinely believe that if the PSP came back today with a similar design as the Switch (R-L2 buttons and proper joysticks) then it would absolutely dominate the gaming industry.
Thats what the Vita had done, the Vita is basically the psp upgraded, second joy sticks, etc. shame Sony didnt properly marketing the thing and give it some love. I had both, Vita and PSP.
I loved my PSP. I even had the PSP go back in the day. But my PSP died about a year ago and it's hard to find a really good condition replacement. I actually have about 35 40 games and I got about 15 UMD movies and I used it all the time.
I loved my PSP, I had a wonderful docking station that turned it into an epic sound system. The modding community did so much to keep the console relevant, I remember some genius managed to make a passthrough that allowed you to connect your PSP to a PC and have the game displayed on the monitor in its own fully scalable window (this was long before PPSSPP became a thing) so it blew my mind. Its also the reason I bought a Vita, I'm pleased to say I still use both consoles!
The Psp is my everything on the go, I remember after quitting my first job I bought the psp on my birthday and all my friends gave me games and the memory stick. every day I would take it with me to listen to music, watch movies and play games. Great times and still today I play it.
I loved my PSP, it lived for 10 years (this year died and it felt sad), it was a golden little piece of fun, even my brother played with it. I even played psx games, the last things I have played were Xenogears and Toukiden Kiwami (yeah, I prefer hidden gems) my favs by far.
I love the PSP. I wonder if anyone has the prototype model. I remember seeing it at E3 the year it was announced, or I think I saw it but it was really the 1000 model. Either way it's a great little portable. Lumines was my game on it made me fall in love with the series.
I absolutely love my PSP, I've had it over a decade, I've had to replace the battery, that's it, I still play it... Tactics War of the Lions along with Dissidia and Crisis Core are my all time faves, but I also have a few playstation classics on it too, including the original 3 resident evil titles, and even Command and Conquer
Ghost Rider, Need For Speed Underground Rivals, Gran Turismo, GTA Vice City Stories, Spiderman 3. PSP was my very first proper console. such a very nice console
I'll never forget the times when me and the buddies played GTA VCS deathmatch against each other on the class breaks. Maybe my handheld gaming started with legendary GBA SP, but PSP was just something else, so many memories. Great vid
The PSP was indeed the best portable media device not made by Apple, you can convert video to play on it but also was a great MP3 player showing that Sony knew still how to make a good music player, but also when in range of Wi-Fi you got access to WinAmp's internet radio, and I listened a heck lot to that, and it still works, mind you the PSP cannot connect to modern Wi-Fi routers
I loved my PSP so much. Always liked how they never really dumbed down ps2 ports but just had weaker graphics. When I got the ds lite after I was shocked with how much weaker the system was.
This was a great vid I stumbled upon. I missed out on everything with the portables until I got my switch and now I'm trying to catch up. Just got my first psp a few weeks ago and I'm just getting started with it.
i can say that i bought like 3 years ago 2 used psp 1 purple and 1 white psp with some games when i realized later that the purple one was a Hanna Montana edition and the game was inserted still in the console, love psp, was the console that i played more than my DS (until i got my DSI XL).
Dude been playing, hacking, repairing and all around just having fun with my different psps since 2007 thanks for your videos the tv feature is new for me 😅
Greetings from Sweden! A stones throw away from the arctic circle. Always happy to see a new video from you! I have seen everything on the channel. No matter what the topic or style is. You always know, that you are in for a treat
ah the memories... I got it the 2nd day it was released here in Mexico, it only had the console, a game and nothing more, not even a memory stick, my game was Splinter cell essentials and for a very very loong time I wanted to hack it, I was never able to, then I had to sell it, but now I own 2 psp and both are hacked, they are soooo good.
I worked book buy-back at college just to get a psp. So many late nights in a trailer on the side of the road just so I could play GTA on the go. I still pull out out from time to time.
I recently got myself a 3000 because I used to have a GO but paid dust to it and eventually sold it off, only to regret it years later. Best decision of my life. Even today, the PSP works great for my lifestyle as a college student that’s living light and only in one place for a few months at a time. I just don’t have time for playing on a tv so this works as a great alternative. I can only imagine what this thing was like to own in its heyday. Edit: For those curious, my favorite games are: • Medal of Honor: Heroes • MGS Portable Ops (yes, I’m one of those few people that likes MPO more than PW lmao) • Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake • Modnation Racers • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (other than graphics, way better than the PS3 version by a long shot) • Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines • SW Battlefront 2 • God of War: Ghost of Sparta
@@InkRibbon Among the Stars. It's not on the store anymore and I never had trophies for it, but my biggest regret years ago is turning down the opportunity for someone to publish it on PS4 for free to keep the game alive.
I had both the Nintendo DS and PSP. I kept my PSP at home, because I was afraid I'd lose it, but my DS I took everywhere with me. Some kids have a stuffed toy they can't leave the house without, I had my DS haha. When I started middle school, I decided I was responsible enough to take my PSP to school. A "friend" stole it from my backpack. I was devastated, because it not only had all of my music and save data on it, it also had my copy of Mortal Kombat Unchained, one of my fav games on the system
man i can remember i made a CFW for the psp... i uploaded it in a forum and never really looked at it again... a year later i saw the download numbers and i was like what the hell LOL so if anybody every had a CFW with snowflakes flowing around in the back of the menu u got it from me LOL
I remember this PSP commercial I can't find anywhere but it was some kind of theatre play or something. The PSP had a price cut to $199.99 but that was when my dad finally got me the PSP bundle that came with ATV Offroad Fury and a movie (Lords of Dogtown) and also bought Sonic Rivals cuz at the time I was obsessed with Sonic
PSP was my first MP3 player and internet-enabled device >;D I went to Funcoland at the mall and traded in RE4, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II, plus some other PS2 games for it! They couldn't take my launch copy of GTA: San Andreas! My favorite games to play were SOCOM Fire Team Bravo 1 & 2 for online, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and AC!D^2, GTA: LCS & VCS, Need for Speed Rivals for offline!
I am a handheld gamer through and through. I still end up using my Steam deck exclusively indoors. When I go on longer trips, I carry my PSP Go. Anything larger is just too cumbersome to lug around.
I played a lot of cool titles with my friends back then, namely Dissidia (both Duodecim and the first Dissidia), Gundam VS Gundam, MGS Peacewalker, Yugi-Oh Tag Force, and the occassional Tekken games (5 and 6).
The most sold game, while an amazing product by itself, is also due to the fact an exploit was found using that very same game, to the point it stopped being sold in retailers for a while.
Was wondering about the ir doo-dad/thx clarifying only on the 1000. I'm old .. like old enough 2 know better but I bought my 1st (& likely only) PSP recently .. Simpsons edition PSP 2002 with most of its original kit i/t box. With even my basic iPhone's bigger hi-res screen & sound engine, I'd focus more on animated movie & arcade-style (Space Invader) & traditional board game/puzzles 4 entertainment on this device. Have probs getting o/t internet tho i somehow mgd 2 upgrade the firmware up to 6.61. Have yet 2 learn how 2 install CFW .. I'd look 2 transfer UMD content 2 micro SD via adaptor. Its multi-media/multi-functionality intrigues me the most .. it'll b a very versatile mp3/mp4 player, arcade-style game player, still/movie maker & tracker with the right peripherals. Yeah, one real cool device .. a sorta 21st Century "Walkman"/early iPod contemporary. I'd regard the PSP as still retro/not yet vintage. An iconic consumer device & damn it, a str8 up gr8 if not favourite TOY .. even in my advanced yrs🤣Gr8 vid thx🤝
can't imagine a phone nowadays can do all the PSP were capable of. watch movies, surf the web, live video chat, retro game emulators (including PSP games) , listening to music, GPS, taking pictures and videos, calling and texting and more....i love my tablet phone 📱
1:20 UMD movies were actually a big failure. They never sold well, always found in dollar clearance bins; even the movie studios were happy to get rid of them. Great video tho, well done!
Well the timing on this is kinda funny because I just got my first ever PSP late last month. (If you guys are wondering anything else, my first games are Mega Man Maverick Hunter X and Little Big Planet PSP, as for the model I'm pretty sure it's a 1000 because it says "PSP1001" at the bottom and it does have the AR sensor at the top, as for the price it was 100$ so apparently, I got it for less than it launched as)
After buying 3 vita’s…and the direction it went…I moved onto the switch and now steam deck is the ultimate hybrid console, I still use my vita though especially in bed.
The only issue I had with the PSP was that the characters move on their own sometimes for no apparent reason, even though I haven't touched the analog stick
If sony EVER re-release the PSP just as a comemorative thing, I'm sure people would buy that right away. Even today I find people struggling to get accessories for it or brand new copies. IT's such a good console.
Ah I remember when I sent my psp for repairs cuz it kept shutting off on me only to find out years later that it was just a flaw of the system and couldn't be fixed

It was never going to outsell the DS. The memory card being proprietary for the vita was a huge misstep too.
#51: PSP had RIIIIIDGE RACER!!!
Loved the psp. Wish it was still around
Wished Sony took another crack at a Handheld. Not the one that they showed at PlayStation Showcase 2023 for the PlayStation 5 like a brand new PSP
I cut so many lawns to get one of these so I could play silent hill origins
Please do a 50 facts on the first GameBoy and Game Gear handhelds next.
I forget how but the PSP was also some how comparable with use in the Scion cars.
If sony EVER re-release the PSP just as a comemorative thing, I'm sure people would buy that right away. Even today I find people struggling to get accessories for it or brand new copies. IT's such a good console.
Wow...
I loved it for the RPGs.
Man, I love these vids.
Dodd.
Sega genesis or Vita.
I remember buying the psp, it came with the first season of family guy. 😊
I still use my psp it's great for playing ps1 games on the go
The god of all console, where u can play every single game available
Ah I remember when I sent my psp for repairs cuz it kept shutting off on me only to find out years later that it was just a flaw of the system and couldn't be fixed
My ps3 was the last playstation product i bought and that was for mgs4.
Please do a Vita one too
So sad that my PSP slowly stopped working & died. My Vita is going down that path as well, though at a much slower rate. So sad.
Psp was way ahead of its time
I used to have a black psp packaged with family guy and daxter, it got stolen by a teenager when my uncle threw a party while we were gone
