Oh hey no worries. I would definitely give it a try if it's being offered to you, it's a real nice plant but also not too tricky to remove if you decide it's not for you.
This was/is a good video . I watched it some time ago and just came across it again. I love the way you point out how with supervision and trimming, the plant can be used in smaller tanks too. Most say it's only for big tanks but it can be pruned to what ever tank it's placed in. Such a lovely specimen.
Thanks very much Haitch. I enjoy making the videos but never really sure how they go down so appreciate you saying you enjoyed it. You're right too, it's a really great plant. Quite hardy for a delicate leaf plant and versatile too.
I just got 2 of these and it's so exciting watching them grow because they are so beautiful! Was so happy to see this video pop up on my feed. Thank you!
One of my favorite plants!!! And I want to say that I’m so glad I found your channel!!! Your videos are informative and engaging!!! Later, later, later!!!😉👍😊
what a great video that you posted here 👍😎I really enjoyed it I like the way you put it together. Red tigers are so pretty and wow they just work in your tank You must enjoy the rest of your day it is almost the weekend💃💃lol LIke46 Greetings from SouthAfrica
Thank you very much. I must agree they are a fantastic plant. They work for many tanks too. Hope you are having a successful week and enjoy a fine weekend
Oh wow really? I don't think I could stop mine if I tried. I guess it goes to show we've all got those slight differences in our systems but to me that's one of the beauties of our hobby. Forever chasing that one result we just can't seem to grasp. 😆
thank you .. there is one about 15 miles from me will give them a call do you think they will be ok im my 100gallon tinfoil barb tank and are they fin nippers
@@leeandmandybattersby5958 I don't know Tinfoils as well as you of course but the Denison are pretty quick. The colours on their tails might be quite tempting to the Tinfoils but I would think they'd be able to get out of their way especially in a nice big tank like that. That's just an educated guess though. I wouldn't like to say it'll definitely be fine not knowing the behaviour of Tinfoils so well.
Thanks very much Dominic. I think they are the same thing; Red Tiger Lotus/Dwarf Aquarium Lilly. Very similar anyway. I think the difference is just the split at the bottom of the leaf unless I'm mistaken. I think the Lotus has the ability to grow above the surface also where as the Lilly doesn't.
The ones with the red lines along them? They're Denison Barb or Red Line Torpedo Barb. Really nice fish. I have a species profile on them if you'd like a closer look: ua-cam.com/video/DhdEU_qVsMk/v-deo.html
Best plant to have i love them in a Betta tank or to create cover ,,,also great to cut it back every time it reaches the surface to make smaller leaves
Oh, haha, cool on the timing then. Honestly if you can I'd say leave it till you see it pop up somewhere else. That way you can pull the first plant up and hopefully find bulds, if not you've already got the second plant started so you have double to play with hey.
@@DanielKeepingFish I was thinking of pulling a bit off the side, but after watching the video, I’ll do what you suggest and leave it for now Daniel. It was an adult plant when I got it and it’s pretty big now. They really ‘pop’ in the aquarium with the colour.
@@brianmarshall1762 ah yeah, I mean if you're confident go for it. They're pretty tough and if you have a well established adult plant chances are you'll be fine. Agreed bud, it's a real gem among the plants in the hobby.
I have three of these in my aquarium, two red and what I think is a green version - the latter I bought as a bulb with no leaves - seems to be sprouting now!
@@DanielKeepingFish the two reds have gone nuts, and the green has definitely sprouted 5 or so leaves. Might have to up my ferts now, getting a bit jungle like now. Shame you can't but pictures on here would like to share it!
Great video Daniel, keep it up! Do you mind if I use some clips from this video for videos of mine? I will make sure to provide credit in the video. Thanks!
Yeah I've looked into that in the past. I think it comes down to the way the leaf splits at the bottom but for all intents and purposes the differences are very slight hey.
Thanks for this very clear summary of how to care for this Lily! Exactly the info I was looking for! Cheers!
No worries Gavin. Glad it was useful.
Someone just offered me a cutting so now I’m doing a bunch of research! Thanks for the video

Thanks very much bud.
Beautiful Daniel we love it looks magnificent in there with those red lines
Thanks boys. Definitely one of the treasures of the planted side of our hobby. 👍

what a beautiful plant..def my favourite
It's a great plant hey. Pretty and interesting and resilient.
I love how those red plants look 😁
They're amazing mate. Such a great plant. One of the few naturally red ones in our hobby.

It a beautiful looking plant! great info on it!
Thanks very much bud. Yeah it's definitely a great plant in many respects.
Enjoyed this very much!
Thanks bud.
Can't wait for mine to sprout. I've heard it can take up to a month, maybe more.
Might be sooner but worth it regardless. Such a great plant, you'll love it.
wow, kool
Thanks homes.
Never managed to keep that alive. It’s my nemesis

beautiful plant looks great in the tank .. i really need some of those denisonii barbs
The Fish Keeper Scotland (Maidenhead Aquatics) near me had some recently. If there's one near you they might be able to order some in for you.

Great vid and beautiful plant. I believe there is a dwarf tiger lotus for smaller aquariums.
Thanks very much Dominic.

Nice timing Daniel. I have had one for a few months now, and was wondering how long it takes to be able to divide it, and how to do this. 👍🏻

Thanks for the video, Daniel 👏 . I picked up one from my LFS but it came without the bulb . Do you know if it grows without the bulb ?
When I was first sent this plant many years back there was no bulb so I think you should be fine.
@@DanielKeepingFish thanks for the reply ☺️. Yes , can confirm it’s growing well for me too
What light do you use? Your plants are beautiful!
Thank you. That was a full spectrum Aquarien Eco. Not a high end light, cheaper brand on Ebay believe it or not.
Dangerous Daniel 💪

No. They get all they need from their roots.
red tiger lotus is not a true lotus, but rather a water lily.
