I accidently learned in infernum that if you're going too fast upwards and use the slime queen mount, you fly so fast to the sky, and that helped me a lot(altrough i wasn't able to pull off with a hook duo to skill issue)
It's particularly nice since it's a percentage, so if your base rizz is already good, be it innate or from outfit bonuses, it pumps that to some crazy numbers.
I'm not sure about fought, but beat, it would have to be 2x Speed Infernum Mode DoG. However, I definitely could've killed him much sooner than 8 months if I optimized all my gear for damage and whatnot, but I decided it looked way cooler if I didn't do that and had a proper length fight haha

Grappling hooks + feather fall in general is really underrated, even diamond hook and feather fall and sandstorm in a bottle is enough for almost every prehardmode boss

I always had a feeling that these hooks were able to break bosses because of the stability they give to the player static hook and anti grav being perfectly still in the air. But never thought to use them because of how slow you move with them as it would make dodging hard.
Great video, but I (and probably many others) would love if you gave some more casual examples of their usefulness. Basically all of them (except for the Moon Lord Laser, good job on that one) are from Infernum or similarly difficult mods. This causes the viewer to doubt if they have notable uses in vanilla, base Calamity, or other large content mods for that matter. It's also a bit cheap not to give many examples of such, since the video title doesn't mention Infernum or even modded in general. The Infernum demographic in particular is so comparatively small that many players will come to this video expecting tips they can utilize in their playthroughs, only to be given solutions for problems they will never have.
Damn, highly appreciate the feedback brotha, hard agree that my focus on mods (especially niche ones like Infernum) is too heavy, I'll consider what you said in future videos!
there is the fact that none of the 3 unique hooks actually have general uses, as there very niche. the most versatile is the Hook of Dissonance, and even then it's only ok for lasers if you have a specific arena for them, since just hooking up or away with a good normal hook works just as well. as for the other 2 they have practically no actual uses outside of Anti-grav hook being the best option for Enraged Duke, and i can't think of any uses for Static hook that would make it better then just walking in a line back and forth. Sadly they're exreamly niche by design, so a general Hook guide would be probably better then trying to find useless ways to use the 3 niche ones.
I literally always use the static hook. I don't use hooks much for fights, and the utility that it gives for building, fishing, mob farming, etc. is nuts. Unironically, I'd take it over any other hook in the game.

But thankfully this video makes it clear that those 3 hooks only really have niche uses. Then for the few comments of my own after the subject analysis, I personally found out about the hook launching tech from @SarrowSteel on UA-cam, from there True melee content, where it's 1 of the few ways to actually true melee Ares. And on a note on the bat hook specifically, it's really not worth going for in vanilla, as the mobility needed in vanilla isn't nearly demanding enough to be worth the farm for the very rare drop from a semi rare enemy dropped Grab Bag, as just using a Biome mimic hook is far more then good enough (I personally prefer Duel Hook) till you beat Cultist. And then in modded, more specifically Calamity, similarly farming a very rare drop from a semi rare enemy, in an event, is at least better odds I'd say, but still not really worth it, as the next few bosses don't benefit much from a better hook, as in Plantera, Aureus and Golem, Leviathan does, but still, there is in my opinion a better farming option to go for, in the Thorn Hook, which is the next best right after the Bat Hook, but is a rare drop from Plantera, and so is far faster to farm for if you ask me, even more so if you are using a QoL mod to buy Boss Bags, and it's far more then good enough to last you till Cultist. the super jump is really useful, it was only with that i could beat exo mechs true melee, is better with the queen slime mount since the mount can fly too so it goes farther
static and anti-gravity hook makes sense actually for being good at dodging bullet hell patterns, most good bullet hell games don't have any inertia when you move and stop, you start and stop instantly at a consistent speed to make weaving through ridiculous patterns possible
LuiAFK led way to learning so many techs and also fed my love for permanent featherfall especially with bullet hells like Calamitas and Mutant The difference is that I used slime mount (and then jelly bean in late Calamity) because it worked and I never saw a need for pogo when it released The other vertical exploit, with unlimited recall potions, you can jump into the air and recall, then jump again and immediately recall back and keep the momentum when you were already airborne. Easy floating islands/planetoids early on
I also forgot to add the fact that there is an easy hookless version of the "Super Jump" as you call it, and i just missed it in my 1st comment, so here it is, if you are using the Jetpack, Empress Wings or the Celestial Starboard, and hold up while flying up with a feather falling potion, you can just practically spam a Fast fall mount to get the same effect without having to have a hook point near you, or having to fall under a platfrom to hook up, so you can do it mid flight too, given you have enough Flight time left for it, as the thing that is apart of all the high vertical speed wings is there generally worse Flight time, when compared to others at the same tier.
Ah that makes sense since the pre-req of "Super Jump" is just insane upwards velocity getting boosted by the mounts, so the hold up to fly faster wings would make sense, thanks for the info drop
@@YARDlS also forgot to add that the Bobbit Hook is very easy to far with no QoL mods either, just make a spawn point outside of the abyss, and a dug out water tunnel in and you have 0 worries on needing to quit out, after accidentally hitting a Reaper Shark.
just an question, is it possible to finish the entire infernum mod with 2x speed bosses? (i have and condition called SUPER SKILL ISSUE and i have to use anti social and armor pockets to finish infernum,sadly)
I sadly believe it's impossible cheeseless... too many attacks overlap making dodging pretty inconsistent. Some bosses straight up break, Jared being the prime example, he gets stuck in an infinite loop of spamming an attack where he's immortal in. Dash bosses aren't able to be ram dashed anymore, your dash cooldown is too long to dash into their dash. HOWEVER, I said "cheeseless," I think if someone were to dedicate a ton of time to research and think about some devious tech, including usage of wiring, it is doable.

It definitely has it's uses, but those are very limited, and using the teleport stops all momentum you have, and is rather short distance, especially on ML it's just far mor consistent to either use a normal hook for upward momentum, or to just not use a hook in the fight at all

Jelly Bean actuakky has a slightly worse top falling speed then Pogo Stick, Slimy Saddle or QS mount.
