- I'm EXTREMELY happy that Sakura is in SFV now. I mained her in SF4 and I will do the same in SFV. She's still really fun and still really timing based because of her combos. I'll be practicing with her so I can get the timing down for her combos. I'll be uploading some Arcade mode stuff tomorrow, so look out for that! I don't think he's oblivious anymore, but I'm fairly certain he's not ready to settle down and start a family like she is contemplating. She floated the idea, but she's still trying to read the room on that one. We dunno how financial Ryu is since while he looks broke, he does travel the world over as a career fighter so he's got a bit of appeal to her in a way. I'm neutral on whether the ship should sink or sail, but I've seen many women her age like guys in their thirties so it isn't as gross or uncommon as most would think.

Women I'm their twenties dating men in their thirties have been common since the eighties and nineties, or even possibly further back than that, but it's not too out of place since when women want to settle down seriously, they find mature men more ideal. No man or woman wants to be babysitting when it comes time to raise a family, so if Sakura actually is feeling that way, I can't blame her for Ryu being a mark.

@@bw4348 Alot of people [even non-shippers (I ship this couple, so let's get that part out of the way)] are misinterpreting it as Sakura wanting to have kids with Ryu. However, the way I really see it is Sakura now growing up and has worries on what her goal would be since her graduation. She already started a part-time job as a Arcade Manager and is thinking about settling down and starting a family, but she is conflicted as to wether or not if just training and fighting is the only thing that is part of strength, rather than having a blood legacy to create a new bond to your future. She's simply asking Ryu if maturity and having a child is part of being stronger. To which Ryu says, "Yeah, I guess so..." since he never really had any thought of such an idea. It's basically the typical worries most people like myself get as to what happens after education. Especially if you don't really have a goal in mind.

PostboyMal There’s a huge difference between real life and fictional canon. In real life, he may be in his 50s, but that doesn’t mean he’s in his 50s in the game. He’s 32. SFV takes place around 6 years after Alpha III in which he was 26.

A part of me believes Sakura will eventually come to accept that Ryu isn't interested in anything besides battle and will only ever see her as a friend and sparring partner, and instead will come to see that the one able to grant her desire of starting a family was really the person by her side on her journey from the very first step.

They throw out all these hints for us shippers. Cause Capcom wants us to keep coming back for more. And Sakura definitely has a crush on Ryu. But I don’t think they’ll ever be together. Even if Sakura was to come out and say it, Ryu’s heart and mind is of a true warrior. Always looking for the next big fight, always trying to get stronger. Settling down and having a family with Sakura or anyone is not in the cards for him. He’ll probably grow old and be just like his master.

In the Manga, Sakura Ganbaru Volume 1, Ken thought Sakura was Ryu's daughter. In volume 2, Chun Li thinks she's his sister. I think your initial assumptions understandable.
