I got that same model. It was runny at first but used your tip to change the orafice and helped it a lot. I had to play around with the dilution ratio, putting more soap than water probably about 4 oz, the rest water. I also bumped up the + button to add more foam (It’s thicker but still a bit runny) . And yes it does use a lot of product. I would say, it’s gone doing one round for a whole car. I’ll upgrade later in the future but for now, I’m pretty content with it. Thank you for your videos!
Thanks for the review. I changed out the orifice and thought I was doing something wrong, but I'm glad its not just me and the foam cannon just doesn't produce enough foam.
I got the same results with the Trinova. As a new detailer, I thought I was doing something wrong and couldn't figure it out! Honestly glad to see this video and know it's not me!
Hey josh from Brooklyn NY! Love your content man I’ve learned a lot especially about changing the orifice but i think you should give the Trinova another shot. I got mines before watching your video about switching the orifice, and after doing so it made a dramatic difference for me. I think the reason your results were different is because of the soap/water ratio your using. Like you noted, it’s a much bigger foam cannon but I think you had too much water. I use 2oz of soap and about 16oz of water with a 1600psi 1.7 gpm AR blue clean electric pressure washer. I also think that fan spread was effected when you removed the black head piece because mines does spread wider. I could be bias but for me it honestly preforms well for the price. I will say though it is heavier to handle because of the Sz and it does suck up more solution.
I've got essentially the same foam cannon from Tool Daily, and like you, I changed the orifice to a 1.1, as my unit came with BOTH a 1.1 and a 1.25, and I am using an electric pressure washer. HOWEVER, if I might make a few small suggestions that might increase the consistency and accuracy or your reviews: : You spoke about adding a somewhat random amount of soap and then "sort of filling" the container. I think this would cause you to have inconsistent soap to water ratios from unit to unit. EVERY soap manufacturer I have seen or used recommends some specific soap to water RATIOS, I.E. 1:10, 1:15, etc. Also, I always use Reverse Osmosis or Distilled water to mix with the soap concentrate, something else I picked up as a tip along the way that made sense. By mixing my soap 1:10 with RO water and using the 1.1 orifice, with a generic electric pressure washer with 1.6 rpm, I get REALLY great "shaving cream" foam. Just my thoughts as to a couple of things that could possibly provide more CONSISTENCY as you compare foam cannons. Give the consistent ratio idea a try and see if you don't get more relatable results. Obviously if you mix soap at different ratios, you will get different results, and without mixing to known ratios and just filling some soap and filling the different size containers, you are going to get different ratios. Something to think about and consider. I been a subscriber for some time, and really thoroughly appreciate your channel and the analyses that you do around pressure washing car gear.
@@gabepelletier3602 Gabe: when my Foam Cannon arrived, it had the 1.25 orifice installed, and I just immediately changed it to the 1.1. If in doubt, OR, if yours perhaps came WITH the 1.1 already installed, simply remove whatever orifice is installed, and compare the two, then choose the smaller orifice. FWIW, especially given Winter Weather, I really don't do a full pressure washer and foam cannon wash very often, and ONLY when the car is REALLY dirty, I.E. mud, etc. I've been experimenting with Yvan Lacroix's advice about using a Rinseless Wash to pre-spray the car even before a Foam Cannon wash, however doing a Rinseless Wash the MAJORITY of the time. Bottom line: it has been working BEAUTIFULLY, has drastically reduced my external cleaning/washing time and work, and in carefully examining the surface, I am NOT getting increased micro-scratching, it appears to be even LESS than when I was Foam Washing more frequently. I have the Trinovea foam cannon and it works well for me on an electric Pressurer washer. Just changed to a 1.1 MM orface today. Cant wait to try it out. Very nice foam before the change..Thanks for all your tips. Cris
Ok so heres a real life review. I bought this foam cannon about 5 yrs ago. This was after owning the mtm hydro pf22 for 6 months..eventually the threads on my bottle were shot so I saw this for $35 on amazon. Now, at the time i was using a gas powered 2200 psi Briggs&Stratton. This was by far jus as good as the $100 mtm. Huge amounts of foam and it also has a larger reservoir with a wider mouth. You cant go wrong with this is $40 is all ur looking to spend. I personally give it 5 stars..great product.
Hey Josh. I just got my 1600 psi Ryobi pressure washer today after watching your video. I also got the Sunjoe foam cannon and switched it to the 1.1 mm orfice.
It does unscrew but they are incredibly tight from the factory. I had to remove the top mix valve so I could grab the body in my vice then unscrew the front. There's nothing fancy in it, it's a standard stainless foam pill. I've ordered the denser / heavier pills from Aliexpress to test with. I've tried several things and while I'm much closer to the foam my MJJC will produce I haven't got there yet with this unit. The bottle will hold about 50oz filled to the top so it's easy to get a usable 48 in it but not 2L.
I have the Tool Daily which is very similar. I have to adjust to the - for more foam. Still doesn’t make much even after changing to a 1.1. I don’t know how there were so many 5 star reviews…
My first cannon was the Amazon Tool Daily which is nearly identical to the Trinova. It works OK...consumes a lot of product, though. It came with a defective nozzle which didn't adjust much like yours, but they sent me a new one and was fine. I agree no way yours is a 2L...looks like 1.5L like the Tool Daily. Even at 1.5L it's pretty heavy on a stubby gun. Worth the $25 I paid...I'd say yes. My Griot's Brilliant Finish puts it to shame with foam quality, as expected.
Same results. I honestly thought it would be more foam. Like you said..mesh might not be woven as tight as some of the others. Hopefully you can get to it and be able to change it and test it with other. Good luck 🤞
Just reminding you on one of your soap challenge videos you mentioned doing a foam cannon maintenance video. Maybe you can possibly added it while doing another foam cannon review.
I bought the Trinova and wasn't that impressed even after switching the orifice. I bought a Bravex foam cannon - it comes with the 1.1 orifice and seems to foam much better. I did start having better luck with the trinova by lowering the amount of water in the bottle. The larger bottle size seems to throw off the ratios.
I have the trinova and agree the build quality is very good, certainly worth the money. However, I switched to 1.1 AND switched the mesh filter and still don’t get the super thick foam, not sure what the issue is but now am becoming curious to solve it somehow. As for your question on how to access the mesh filter, I put mine in a bench vise and backed it off with a big wrench. You can get to it, but it’s very tight, you have to back off one of those brass hex nuts once you take off the black plastic piece. You were on the right track.
Not sure what’s wrong with yours but my Trinova makes super thick foam with my active pressure washer. The only soaps that I’ve used is Mr Pink, Honeydew, and Tough Mudder. All have made super thick foam.
Got the Bravex one off Amazon and really enjoying it. Don't have any anything to compare it to but it foams thick as I expect it to. Funny because the TriNova was also on my list, whew. Could just be a bad one.
I also just picked up a Bravex, very happy with the foam, using P&s Perl and the Ryobi 1900psi pressure washer. Much better than the tool daily cannon I used prior.
I have A Griot's and A Trinova...haven't used them yet. I'm using My MaxShine! I have one for foaming... one for foaming wheels with brake buster or Adam's wheel&tire cleaner.
Maybe because since it’s a bigger bottle, you should have started out with more soap. If it’s a 2 liter bottle you had more water in it then if you used a 1 liter bottle. I don’t believe it was the mesh that was the problem.
Great reviews ! One more thing you may want to ad is a pin gage set to see what hole size actually is. Since most of box info is not accurate. So I would say the holes on tips are not what they say !
imjoshhv… To get to the foam filter you need to pull off the back larger oring carefully (pulling off the oring is necessary so your wrench fits flat and also so the oring doesn’t get damaged) and put one wrench on those machined flats - then put another wrench on the flats that you had the wrench on towards the front. Hold the back wrench in the tightening position and use the front wrench to loosen the front section. It’s going to take a some force because the units come torqued down pretty good.
