Patience - Who has time for that? | Qaas Shoukat | TEDxNSU

- In the fast-paced, technology-saturated world we live in today, many resources and services are readily available through the internet. What may have taken a long time in the past is now achieved in mere moments. We have grown accustomed to getting what we want, when we want it. Yet, technology has not been able to speed up everything. It is within this gap that we are living-in a state of increasing impatience-as we seek instant gratification in every facet of life, yet are forced to wait for those beyond our control.
Qaas Shoukat is an NSU freshman who was born and raised in Pakistan before moving to Florida in 2010. Shoukat’s experience of living in two different cultures has given him a unique perspective on life and, he believes, has helped shape his personality. While the differences between his homeland and his new home took time to adjust to, Shoukat has found ways to appreciate and adopt the American way of life while holding on to his cultural roots. In his home and on social media, Shoukat stays connected through his native language, Urdu, and he still enjoys Pakistani music and films. In high school, he stepped outside his comfort zone to join both the Theatre Department and the Health Science Occupation Students of America (HOSA) Club. Participating in these groups allowed him to pursue his diverse passions for science and the performing arts. Now in college, Shoukat is advancing his experience and knowledge in these areas as a biology major pursuing a minor in theatre.

This was amazing!! So we’ll spoken at 19❤️“We’re not running out of time. We’re running too fast for time to keep up with us.” thank you for this!
When your best friend is delivering something so impressive you just have to watch it !! :)
Amazing talk at that
It's funny because when I was searching through the videos I was going to go with the one with the least amount of time.
Hahaha
Can you please tell me how did you find it funny?
The irony
I think his point is not that we should unnecessarily drag things, but we should recognize and respect that some valuable things take time and we can't realize the reward of the process if we don't accept the wait.
He is so young, yet this is the most enthused I have ever been by a presentation. It flowed so well. I hope to hear more speeches from him!
I sped up this video.
Time is a consistently depleting resource.
Haaaaaaaa
There's always someone screaming at the end of EVERY Ted talk. LOL. Joking aside, I felt I'm impatient and thought that's wasting a lot of my life in procrastination so I searched this issue and I really love the way he started his talk talking about digital age. It just totally makes sense to me how technology has made me impatient. It's hard to admit because people will finally put the blame on you yourself (and they're right to some extent) but no one can say we're not affected by technology. Nice talk.
Am slow,I made myself slow ,I react less, and only if I want ,Over and above all the hard training that I've been through , everybody looks at me with fire in their eyes just cos they can't handle my no-reaction strategies .this hurts a bit ..cos they're pushing you backwards while you tryna to push forward .so literally I enjoyed this TEDtalk and yes I liked the opening part☝... that's an Ace ♠
Hey! Care to share your no reaction strategies with me? Thx in advance.
Please share how do you do that. Need to learn no no react strategy
Omg reading my comment right now I now understand that depression made it easy for me just to not be led by my emotions! . Sorry guys but I now understand my method to not fast react was unhealthy . It's been 2 weeks since I started curing my depression that lasted 7 yrs up till now . Now I see everything clearer and this by itself can help you to be selective when it comes to reactions .and by the way today I graduated as a civil Engineer .it took me 8 years of being patient . Patient with my depression that made it harder for me to graduate in 5 yrs .😊
Wow this is the best talk I ever heard.
Thank you.
Understand what patience is, he can always be responsible for everything again!
If we’re not careful, it will take a near drastic experience for society to really understand the value of patience.
Prophetic
Isaiah Anderson How about that?
Brent Foster it’s like you knew corona would come humble us. Wisdom speaks
Isaiah Anderson If you pay attention to history, it basically tells you what to look out for. Unfortunately, most do not.
Imagine being 19 and doing your own Ted talk, what an absolute boss.
With today technology people can get what they want when they want it. Patience is easily forgettable since everything can be delivered and ordered from your phone. Society isn’t helping as we expect technological growth at a faster rate than what is possible. The world is changing but it takes time and patience.
What a supportive group of people he has! You can tell by the comments and the genuine applause at the end!
I want to know how to be patient. NOW! Don't have time to watch all of this. NEXT.

I don't like how you make millenials seem like their impatient lol everyone is impatient to an extent. Its just human nature. Maybe millenials just don't know what dial-up internet was like but thats not their fault. They're just used to having internet be faster. The same could be said about adults... you try driving on the highway and see how impatient people can be.
No offense but this audio quality is unbearable.
Whiner
I don't have time for 12minutes video🙄
He's only 19 he hasn't been through much lol
Another obnoxious teenager thinks he has all the answers. Remember who created the computer-NOT THE MILLENNIALS
