Not almost every one, the ones with uncapped frame-rates did and he did mention it here at about 12:20. Or maybe it's a huge conspiracy to cover up the fact and we'll all be in FEMA camps by Christmas.
@@davidste60 OK, let me clarify what I didn't think needed to be stated: Almost every game THEY TESTED in their video. It is patently obvious that only games with unlocked framerates with get a framerates boost unless patched later unlock it. Same with resolutions that need to be dynamic to benefit and can only benefit up to the maximum resolution of the original code unless patched. As for FEMA camps, sure if the Socialists get their way it is indeed possible and far worse.
@@sammysokosammysoko It's not patently obvious or even true. A game with a 30fps lock that runs mostly at 25fps will indeed get a boost, just to 30fps and the same for games locked at 60fps. With resolution there is also the possibility to bump it up on games without dynamic resolution, though I haven't heard of any plans to do it. But I've done some 3D programming and setting the resolution with 3D APIs is one line of code to change, I'm sure they could manage it though some games would benefit a lot more than others, just as we see with sixth-gen console emulators in high resolutions. Yes, socialists could in theory do almost anything, except anything good. Anyway, the frame rate boosts were mentioned in the video.
@@davidste60 Well there is a difference fundamentally between a game getting an automatic bump that is locked at 30 but misses the mark from time to time as opposed to one with an unlocked framerate I think, particularly when talking comparisons. As for the one line of code thing, assuming that is true (no reason to doubt you), I guess we can only hope devs will do so.

You can store the Ps5 games on an external, but that's just to keep the base game and all updates installed without having to delete them for when you need storage. But you can't play the upcoming Titles like the new HZD or new GoW from the external, as the internal SSD is bespoke to the console and is optimised to allow those new games to utilize all the Console Tech (apologies for the over explanation).
@@cameronfell4415 quote from the video "after system data and updates you have about 667GB for your games this wouldn't be as a big if problem IF YOU COULD STORE games on an external drive and transfer them to the console when you want to play them UNFORTUNATELY the ps5 is not capable of this at launch, for now you can only use external drives for playing backwards compatible ps4 games." so he is saying you can't store ps5 games on an external
@@TanoGamess Nah you can. Multiple reviewers say that you can STORE the ps5 games on externals but you can't RUN the ps5 games from the external... they only function properly from the onboard SSD
Wait...The XBOX Series X is already the world most powerful console....it looks like it’s the worlds fastest console as well. The PS5 loads games slower than the XBOX Series X. WOW What a crushing blow to Sony after all that SSD talk. 13:13
I wonder if this review and testing was done with the current newest system patch or just the one that came shipped. The newest firmware update apparently reduces load times by quit a lot and makes some other stuff better. Astro bot got a big overall improvement with it.
Good review guys! Really like the controller but I've heard the battery drain is crazy and that it only lasts about 5-7 hours. Can you confirm battery life? I think I'll start out with the Xbox Series X. Kinda feel like the back compat is way better there. Maybe it's something Sony can fix with time. Also, no quick resume one PS5? Why Sony??? So Xbox first for game pass and the great back compat and when Sony irons out the kinks and releases some must have games (not a huge spiderman fan) I'll consider the PS5.
I don't understand how the PS5 SSD is slower than series X? I thought it was like double the speed? I understand these are just back compat games that aren't optimised? But the series X back compat games aren't optimised either?
I read that comment and I looked into it but I can't find evidence? I understand xbox put more time into backwards compatibility as a whole but not to optimise games. Hopefully the new games load way faster on PS5.
That is mainly because of the implementation of the backward compatibility itself instead of the hardware. All of the games shown are older ps4 titles. The ps5 's SSD is simply faster than Xbox's on paper
It's just with Backwards Compatibility. Microsoft has placed a huge emphasis on backwards compatibility so it's no surprise that the Series X can run older games better. Sony's done the opposite. Their main focus is new games. Miles Morales takes about 10 seconds to load in from a cold boot and it takes roughly 2 seconds to load when fast traveling. Backwards compatible games likely haven't been patched or optimized properly to take advantage of the SSD.
It is curious. Someone else in the replies has already pointed out that the games might not be optimized, but the bc titles on the SX aren't optimized either.
How are the triggers for driving games like Gran Turismo? One thing I didn't like about past controllers was their lack of feedback especially when breaking.
My concern is that developers won’t use all the features that ps5 has to offer. Adding 360 audio and haptic cost money and time that may not actually bring any additional revenue. They will default to keep things the same through all the systems.
I think Xbox and PS rushed it. When the RTX3090 and the Radeon 6000 will be available but hopefully things will change or can be changed so it's better to wait and not to buy any at the moment.

Digital Foundry played a TON of backward compatible games on PS5 and almost every one automatically ran flawlessly at 60fps without any specific updates at all. Why didn't they mention any of that here? Curious.

Great review. Not just a hodgepodge of the things we already know but also some new little details sprinkled here and there. 👍
It would be great to have a Hybrid graphic mode where it would automatically switch between Performance or Fidelity depending whether you are in Action sequences or just looking around.
That sounds terrible. Dropping in and out of 4k to 1080p would be much worse than frames being dropped.
@@AnthonyClauser Both qualities render in 4k, man. But it would change from 30 to 60 frames and back. It would only toggle stuff like Raytracing.
That's asking too much.
@@RatBonez11 Is it, though? I'm not demanding it. Just saying it would be cool. Doesn't seem that much, considering all the features PS5 is bringing. Seems quite on par with some of the additions.

Could you provide any information on PS5 Full HD performance?
Which setting are used while playing Miles Morales on Full HD?
Same question
Seems the PS5 is asking a lot of custom features that are Console specific, I'm not sure if this would look appealing to cross platform game creators to opt into any of those console specific features...
Especially companies like Active vision, EA or Rockstar... All these features could result in more coding for a single platform and lots of chances the game creators could get it wrong or overlooked as they have to support PC and Xbox versions as well..

@@XZhang-cf1oe A main sales pitch for all PS5 games yes. I suppose not with PS4 games unless Devs patch and optimise them for the new SSD tech.

So far all I've been taking from these reviews. Is PS5s controller is the best thing going for the PS5 right now. And, XBOX SX has no games. But is really powerful.
ps5 makes up for it with much faster loading speed. Both are very powerful, the difference in teraflops isnt really much to brag about as well, as ps5 is designed to get much more out of its 2 less teraflops. graphically speaking, not a big difference at all

Dude I’m getting a ps5 but I’m disappointed by those loading times compared to series x. It thought the ssd was supposed to be faster?
That was two last gen games. It IS faster on specs and theoretical performance by a large margin. Will have to wait and see how it compares in actual PS5 and Xbox Series X games not games that haven't been optimised for it. Still surprising for sure though.
I think its faster if the games are optimized for ps5

6:38 ign review said you can store ps5 games on an extrnal hdd but here you say you can't , which is it i am confused
Can store them on it but not run them off of it.

The PS5 loads games slower than the XBOX Series X. WOW What a crushing blow to Sony after all that SSD talk. 13:13
*on previous gen games
I wonder if this review and testing was done with the current newest system patch or just the one that came shipped. The newest firmware update apparently reduces load times by quit a lot and makes some other stuff better. Astro bot got a big overall improvement with it.
Most likely without the newest patch. A lot of the loading time issues and other kinks are because most games aren’t fully optimized yet
When he sorted library by platform, PS3 was on there. Sony seems a little sus.
I noticed that too. Why is that there?
Maybe because ps3 games can be streamed via psnow
@@TheAlderFalder Correct. Streaming it is.
So you can play your PS4 games on the PS5?
Good review guys! Really like the controller but I've heard the battery drain is crazy and that it only lasts about 5-7 hours. Can you confirm battery life?
I think I'll start out with the Xbox Series X. Kinda feel like the back compat is way better there. Maybe it's something Sony can fix with time. Also, no quick resume one PS5? Why Sony??? So Xbox first for game pass and the great back compat and when Sony irons out the kinks and releases some must have games (not a huge spiderman fan) I'll consider the PS5.
No quick resume? Really? Did they say that. I missed it in that case.
@@memorycard1000 It's in the written review.
@@Meowdegger Ok. Thanks.
I don't understand how the PS5 SSD is slower than series X? I thought it was like double the speed? I understand these are just back compat games that aren't optimised? But the series X back compat games aren't optimised either?
ps5 is faster than xbox ( 5,5 - 2,4)
Yeah I know which is why I'm confused. Why is series x loading games faster than PS5?
@@JAZ_VEIGA I saw a comment somewhere about it wasn’t optimised somehow, it was a detailed explanation
I read that comment and I looked into it but I can't find evidence? I understand xbox put more time into backwards compatibility as a whole but not to optimise games. Hopefully the new games load way faster on PS5.
I'm still happy with my ps4, probably more years to come.
@Jesus Pernia saving money and you still can play some cool games
Best review of the PS 5 I saw so far. Thanks guys!!
So ps5's main draw was the fastest loading ssd but is in fact not the case as xbox still has a faster load.
I feel like PS5 backwards Compatibility needs to be improved.
In what way
my guess is that it will be a future update
My concern is that developers won’t use all the features that ps5 has to offer. Adding 360 audio and haptic cost money and time that may not actually bring any additional revenue. They will default to keep things the same through all the systems.
Xbox Series X has Dolby Atmos and better 3D audio so it wouldn’t hurt to implement regardless.
@@antbrooks1625 no it has not. It has not been possible to compare yet, as sony has designed its own type called Tempest.
@@gullfeber I'm aware. I have the Pulse 3D headset already as well but there's no way it's going to be better than Atmos.
Honestly to me, PS5 feels like true next gen whereas Series X feels like an overall enhancement of the same stuff we had with Xbox One.
'It leaves the company with the tough challenge of topping itself'. No one decided this could be worded better?!
Is this PS4 or PS5? Because the graphics look almost the same.
I think Xbox and PS rushed it. When the RTX3090 and the Radeon 6000 will be available but hopefully things will change or can be changed so it's better to wait and not to buy any at the moment.
Can you choose to only download the save files you want, or will it download all of them
