For landscape and studio photography, typical requirements are resolution, low weight, decent speed, inheriting autofocus from Z8/9, and decent video capabilities. The Z9's many capabilities are pretty different, and I see no problems here. They would attract other users. I have the Z7 and am just waiting for the Z7 III. I am looking for better focus and a slightly faster speed.
Z7 ll still on sale a b&H for 33% off. The 3 must be coming. I did some calculations and 45 to 60 MP allows an image 1.333 larger. Do we need it when 45 makes 20x30." This is not like the old days when 4x5 beat medium format by a country mile. Pro photogs who sell wall size work for families need it. Who else. Remember super resolution in photoshop will get you 40x60. Best you invest in a tripod?
Golly I was sure the Doom and Gloom forecasters regarding Nikon's future were all but gone however it looks like yet another Sony fan boy has thrown his hat into the ring. This time though it is a corporate financial expert and I believe he should share his knowledge with the board of directors at Nikon and not people like me who haven't a clue about finance....but I can read. With a high pitch of glee in his voice he warns Nikon that there is ruin in their future if they don't mend their conservative ways. Another conservative leaning company is Toyota and we can plainly see the trouble that has caused them. To be honest both are profitable companies . Being conservative is part of Japan's culture I believe. Nikon is made up of 5 divisions, Imaging products, Precision equipment, Health care, digital manufacturing, and components. Nikon manufactures the machines that perform lithography which enable silicon chips to be etched. They also manufacture large flat screens, camera sensors that, according to their literature, are sold to Intel, Sony, TSMC, Toshiba, LG and others. This arm of their business, from Q1 to Q3 2023 show revenue and operating profit up 20%. The imaging division ( cameras and lens ) which Q3 showing profits up about 42% having sold 800,000 camera bodies and 1. 6 million lens. ( Z8 & z9) Also don't forget that Nikon purchased a very successful cinema company, RED. They now own all the technology, patents and manufacturing know how. That isn't such a conservative move, what do you think? Back to the high MP war, instead of a 60 mp sensor, why not use a 45 MP sensor and pixel shift to 90-120 Mp?
