Your Mathmos Astro you said you change the light bulb to U S light bulb what was the brand and type you use ? I have the exact same type of lava lamp the European light bulbs are very expensive to ship to the United States thanks for the video
The Astro takes a 30w 240v bulb. Easiest way to power it is to get a voltage converter transformer or you can desolder and take the U.K. screw base off the 240v bulb and put it on a standard 30w 120v American bulb. Then you only need a U.K. To US plug adaptor, and you can use the original plug, cord, and switch
Imo the mathmos are far superior in every way. I like that yellow mathmos lamp you managed to pick up. I like the shape and the colour combination! I believe they don't make the jet model anymore...that's a shame because ide imagine it would still sell very well! I like that shape. If your collecting lamps its nice to have a range of shapes and sizes instead of the generic astro shape. I just ordered about an hour or two ago the astro vinyl lamp in black with purple liquid and orange wax which imo looks the best...I want to get another black vinyl astro with blue liquid and green wax! They should look great next to each other on my living room shelf and should throw off some stunning light at night as my living room walls are white💫 I also bought a very tall 1meter tri colour lamp (red, green, yellow) just a few days ago and that only cost me £35 which is around $50....that is really nice when it gets going after an hour or so! The glass is coloured on this one and the wax is clear. Interesting lamp with a black base and the same shape as the jet model. The colours remind me of the Jamaican colours...very cool for the price.👍🏼
If my channel takes off, and I can start a business, I will start a LavaLamp Company that will create all these types of LavaLamps, and Vintage ones as well. They will use the old formula, to be as bright and vivid as they were back then. However, at the moment, I don't have the resources do that, unfortunately. However, at the moment, I can do 3D CGI LavaLamps though! But when and if my channel takes off, I will start a company! :)
@@blenderbachcgi I have several lamps myself and the mathmos is by far the most superior....your right when you mentioned the vividness of the colour....the purple liquid with orange lava is absolutely stunning at night, the way the wax moves compared to my other lamps is very obviously superior too. They definitely nailed the ratio in the lamp that allows the lava to flow at an optimal level. The one I bought cost me £95 which is around $138-142 which isn't cheap but considering how long it will last if looked after and the finish quality I felt it was well worth it. By the way the vinyl models in black are absolutely stunning👍🏼👍🏼💯
Liked and subscribed that's an awesome collection I can just buy the standard lava lamp where I'm from by the way I know this might sound random but have you ever thought about doing an ASMR video because for me this is what I'd call unintentional ASMR another reason I like this video anyways much love from the UK
Hi! Can you make a video on how you replace master fluid? What’s your recipe, how do you do it, do you have any tips? I have no idea how to replace mine and would love to learn from you! Love your collection and vids btw
oozinggoo.ning.com/m/discussion?id=1566398:Topic:387664 This thread gives details on how to replace master fluid, in vintage lamps you need a lot of epsom salt . Some lamps get bubbly wax with epsom salt so I use Propylene glycol instead, the proportions are similar to when using salt.
@@BAFVintage have you tried smart dimmers and have them on an extension….you can control then all at once then…I use them on mine and they are voice controlled
@@seaandbells my only issue with that is a lot of my lamps act differently and need to be on different levels on the dimmers, it's a good idea in theory though and I'm glad you found it useful
I love your collection! If you ever get tired of your mathmos jet please let me know!

@@BAFVintage thank you!
I got a Mediterranean lava lamp i cant get the wax to flow much can i use a 30 or 35 watt bulb..?
they take 25w bulbs, sounds like a problem with your wax or fluid
@@BAFVintage Thank you so much I know the older ones are kinda difficult also ive never seen a yellow wax Mediterranean
You need a dimmer mate 👍
