Rihanna should've done a lot more Rock songs and should've definitely ventured into Country music. The original roots of Rock and Country music have been erased and a lot of artists that look like Rihanna are primarily depicted in an oversexualized "urban" manner which is utterly racist, sexist and offensive. I always felt like Rihanna has a "Rock" sounding voice because she always added that edgy appeal to her music. Rihanna is definitely an underrated singer (yes she may not be the best), but when she does try, Rihanna can sing her behind off. Rihanna should've definitely did more slow ballads like Adele. "Diamonds" and "Stay" are perfect examples of Rihanna's vocal power. What made Rihanna a huge global Pop star today is because she was really diverse and could perform many genres of music. If I'm not mistaking she is the #1 selling artist of the 21st century, has the most #1 hits out of every artist in the 21st century, and is the 2nd greatest selling female artist of all time behind the Legendary Madonna (Madonna 330 Million Records sold and Rihanna 280 Million Records sold). I hope Rihanna returns to music soon. I really do miss her but she has so much music within the 12 years that she did music from 2005-2017
At this point you need to react to her ANTI album she’s shows depth and vulnerability and show cases a full vocal range. A genre-bending and eclectic album too trust me you’d love it.
Yeah, she did show off her vocal range and control in this one!!! The only song of hers that I'm really familiar with is "Umbrella" but it doesn't showcase her vocal virtuosity near as much as "California King Bed"
