Am I the only person who feels like attendance awards are like totally not okay? If the kids are late because of the parents, how is that the child’s fault? And after Covid why are we encouraging kids to show up to school sick or making them feel bad about not being able to go to school if they’re too sick?😩😩
yup! i grew up jewish and my parents always kept me out of school for the high holidays- I never had a chance at winning the school attendance awards
But still kids who woke up early and attended every single day deserve a reward for that effort, we shouldn’t stop encouraging wanted behaviors only because some might not be able to do it due to their own circumstances. However, Other kids can still have different kind of awards rather than the attendance reward.

@@ireallyafaf9045 no because it’s literally praising kids for never getting sick. Which they have no control over.
Unfortunately a lot of federal funding is tied to student attendance. Until that changes, schools will continue to “motivate” students to have perfect attendance.

Don’t even get me started on testing! Like you said, WE KNOW OUR KIDS! Also, why on earth do we have to cover or take down all the things when in real life we use resources to help us?! 🙄
