I know a teacher who was asked the day before school started to go from second to fourth grade. She had to have her classroom ready that fast! I can’t imagine. Your room looks great though, and I love your positive outlook. You’re going to have a great year!

I do the same with my post-school chill clothes. I teach pre-k in a very small school in rural Maine!

This is why I am so thankful for my union. They would give me MINIMUM two weeks notice before I had to transfer and start. Sending well wishes❤️ You got this!

Something similar happened to me, but I didn't have to transfer schools. I had to leave K and move up to 1st...to be honest, first was okay, but I love Kindergarten. I was able to go back to K the following year. It looks like you will be great in K, your room looks ready for your new students. Enjoy Kindergarten (but it will be tiring the first few months), it's a really rewarding grade to teach.

Hello! I am a kinder teacher as well! Happy for you! For the above lockers I recommend still numbering them and using them for extra student supplies and for their change of clothing if they wet themselves. We have each student bring a change of clothing in case of accidents if you don’t do that then don’t mind this comment!

That is just like elementary school when I was in my class and some one ask can we have play time and my teacher said you guys don’t nt earn it it is because we was talking over her but ya and we never had free time for now but ya❤

Kristen! I am so sorry that you had to not only move schools but grade levels as well! A teammate of mine on my 1st grade team got displaced this past week so I know how tough it must be. However, your new classroom looks amazing and those Kindergartners are so lucky to have you! Fortunately you moved down to Kindergarten so the students really don't know what is really going on so thats lucky for you-haha! :) Also Kindergarten is tough, but in the best way possible. I taught Kindergarten 2014-2020. They learn and grow so much throughout the school year and for some it is their first school experience so you get to show them that learning is fun! Good luck! <3

I have never heard of this happening before. Does it happen because one school doesn't have funding or another school is left in a hard space because someone can't work? In Melbourne, Australia, we are technically hired by the department, but the hiring process is up to your school so you stay at your own school. If you want to move schools you reapply or ask for a temporary transfer, so this seems so foreign to me. You poor thing though. Moving rooms, schools and students so soon after the start of the year. I thought I had it hard when we compressed 7 grade 2 classes into 6 to move a teacher to a different year level to cover for another teacher and so I moved rooms 8 weeks after starting at my new job. If I had to do what you did my brain would have exploded. Learning a new school and procedures and names etc has been tough so I feel you ❤ Hope this change has a silver lining and it has opened new doors you may not have on your own. I hope it is a blessing in disguise for you ❤❤❤❤❤

As a teacher, a lot of frustrating things pop up unexpectedly, and they can easily mess up my day. I'm still learning how to quickly turn my mood around in a positive way. I really admire your positivity.❤

I'm nor sure how the American system works. In Australia (in my state) we have day 8. This is just the cut off day where school funding for teachers are finalised based on the numbers of students enrolled. So schools can either gain or lose a class based on numbers. Is that what happened for you?

Wow! I cannot imagine. I am so impressed by how quickly you transitioned to your new school and classroom, and with such positivity. I teach kinder, too. There are many things that are “so kindergarten” and the growth you’ll see with children academically and social emotionally is so rewarding. I hope you have a great year! Your kids are so lucky to have you.

As a parent of 4 kids, so thankful for all the work you put into your classrooms. My last 2 kids are in 1st and 2nd and I love watching to get inspiration to have a nice small setup here at home.
