- Virginia Tech was leading #1 Ohio State 17-14 at halftime, but the Buckeyes pulled away in the 2nd half, eventually winning 42-24. Hokie QB Michael Brewer was knocked out of the game with a broken collarbone after going 11-16 for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns.

With the advent of the College Football Playoff in 2014, the ACC will be one of five conferences with a contractual tie-in to an "access bowl", the successors to the BCS.
Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, by seven universities located in the South Atlantic States, the conference added additional members in late 1953, 1979, 1991, 2004, and 2013. The 2004 and 2013 additions extended the conference's footprint into the Northeast and Midwest. The most recent expansion in 2013 saw the additions of the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse University. In 2012, the University of Maryland's Board of Regents voted to withdraw from the ACC to join the Big Ten Conference. On November 28, 2012, the ACC's Council of Presidents voted unanimously to invite the University of Louisville as a full member, replacing Maryland.

During Halftime, Brewer of VT said of one of the first half hits, "they'll need a lot more to knock me out of the game." Later, he was knocked out on a harder hit.

+KwaGod Brown yeah I agree its JT's team next year but it seems that the QB issue isn't completely over. From the way Cardale and Urban Meyer spoke at the post game interview they are taking it week by week. Urban said he was thinking about putting JT in earlier but the pressure from VT made him stick with Cardale because he thought he had a better chance of throwing the ball over that defense that was coming in like a tidal wave. Cardale may start the games and get the most snaps but we will see a lot of JT just depending on who their playing and how the game is going.
+rolled_tide 410 I knew when Cardale played against the terrapins he looked nfl to me. I love JT and he was brilliant last year. But Cardale is huge and he bulls his way through and that was why he was a good choice for this game. They both are going to be so exciting to watch this year, and i think we will see amazing things from them and the whole team.
Poor Hokie fans. I knew at the beginning of the game their faces were doubtful, and their season is gone without Brewer. But, it's a revenge game, and I don't feel too sorry. #BucksNation

+onall4szj Doubt it unless Brewer plays defense. He got injured on a third down when VA Tech was losing 21-17. Then Braxton spun the VA Tech defense on the very next possession and the backups came in afterwards.

He's been working his butt off to prove that and now he can't. Motley just can't back it up. He doesn't have the same level of skill or football intelligence that Brewer had... The one long pass Motley threw was into triple coverage and was intercepted... Our season's over.... #Hopeless

hey maybe that guy will step-up. he looked like he had certain qualities that could make him end up being a good QB. he's a good scrambler. also gotta figure, once OSU's D is in a rhythm it's hard for ANYBODY to get through them, let alone a backup QB. not sure who VT has next week but maybe he'll be able to get comfortable instead of being pressured every time, and then maybe he can learn a bit more. never know

pretty solid game, but they really need to get their shit together in the Secondary. I don't know HOW many times last night I saw VT WR's standing completely wide-open with no defenders within 5 or 10 yards of them. I understand it's the first game of the season and they're still adjusting, but if we would've been playing a tough pass-heavy team last night we would've been picked apart piece-by-piece. I really, really, really hope they can do something to correct that before the MSU game.

The Buckeyes look good but I think they may have to re-adjust a few things for Cardale if he's going to get the majority of the snaps. I know its tough for Urban to let a pro style QB run this type of offense but I think he's willing to try . I don't like how Cardale runs that option he's better running up the middle instead of side to side. Barret is much better at the option but he doesn't put the pressure on the secondary like Cardale. They did a good job of mixing Braxton in the game plan to do the things Cardale can't do. They may have to switch things up to make it work. I expect to see more of JT next week something tells me that Urban isn't totally finished with the QB situation he may take it week by week. I feel you got to let Cardale be the main guy he is just too dangerous with his arm and it opens up the whole playbook for the Buckeyes.Think of those long shots down field he took that got pass interference. He doesn't even have to complete passes he can just threaten the defense with a long ball and draw interference calls in some cases. Once all our receivers are back I really feel Cardale is going to light it up but he needs to limit that side to side option.

Urban Meyer does this better than any other coaches. He is great at half-time adjustments and fixing things up from game to game. I think those options were just to see if they work but if you see Cardale with Braxton running just outside they will take the pitch away every time because Cardale isn't as dangerous running the ball as Miller is. Urban has a lot of options and he knows how to utilize them all.
They will play the game they feel it's unfolding. PS Awesome game.

I doubt I'd want to see at any Thanksgiving gathering I attend any player associated w Urban Meyer; however, he coaches wins and seemingly recruits guys who break the law more so than, for example, Frank Beamer. VT program gotta change at the top, or also ran is the only legitimate aspiration. Save touchdown passes, each employed at the correct time and executed flawlessly, osu killed IT. Give the offensive coordinator the HC chore. Let him chop wood.
