These videos are becoming a highlight of my week. As someone who loves to ride and enjoy the open road this is brilliant. I'd love to see a video about what you do in camp. So setting up your sleeping setup, your cooking setup, videos like "Top 5 must bring essentials for Bikepacking" something like that would really help your channel grow as personally I often find channels like this through videos of setups and such(I found yours through you setting up your bags on your bike for example). Would love to see this channel get big as it really deserves it.

One does't learn those lessons until in the editing room. It was my first big trip to film. I have a lot more how-to videos planned for this summer, along with a few more small trips, and another big one in the fall to release another series over the winter. ~ keep the suggestions coming!

I stumbled upon your videos while looking for bike packing trails in BC. I must say I love them. The scenic views and the towns, I really love them. AM from Kenya and would one day like to come to BC Canada and thanks for introducing me to the province already.

Iohan is a beast, he's tough as nails. The trails he tackles is truly amazing. I can only dream of having that grit and fortitude ~ but then, I'm old and injured, so I roll at my own party pace. That river is awesome to float down, in general it's very safe from Princeton all the way to the take out at Chopaka Bridge (85+ km) but because of very high water every spring, braided channels change, so you always has to be on the lookout for old log jams. I've gone down many different sections in my fly fishing pontoon boat when I lived in the area. And the Ashnola is apparently quite fun at high-water. ~ I'm not a kayaker though / bad shoulders.
At first I opted for music without lyrics, but I'm finding it works much better for the trip videos. Harder to narrow down my music selection, but well worth the effort. - thanks for watching & commenting.
The Ashnola is a pretty place to explore, technically its not a through road, Provincial Park on the East of it, and access to high elevations to the West… there is one way to 4x4 west to hwy 3 at Copper Canyon.
Your content is inspirational and motivational, and the scenery just stunning. I think my favorite moments are when you ride through small towns. Such an interesting vibe about those places. Reminds me of road trips with the family through Montana, Idaho and Wyoming back in the 1990s. The old days? HA

Yet, now since I started shooting videos, they take on a completely different vibe, than what I remember them as... it brings them to life in a way I could have only experienced from a bike.
Really enjoy your channel. My three young daughters and me rode the KVR last summer, from Kelowna to Penticton where mom picked us up. We’ll have to explore the rest in instalments. Safe travels, Salty.

Yes, there is mountain bike trail that runs the from the back of Nickel Plate. There's lots of cool places, trails, 4x4 roads and old mines to see in that area from Princeton to Osoyoos.

Thanks :). I enjoy the challenges of finding the right music for each video, well worth the extra effort. The greatest bits of advice I can offer.. know your bike, and how to repair common issues (tires, spokes, chains, brakes, derailleurs) and leave on a trip all tuned up with fresh brakes. (bring one set of used pads with you) One can't be prepare for every possible issue, because you can only carry so much on a trip. All of these items I have used at some point: - various types of tire repair (including curved needle, dental floss & gorilla glue to repair sidewall slashes) - extra spokes, & nipples (know basic wheel trueing skills) - small length of chain in case you bend some out of whack. - spare derailleur hanger specific for your bike. (I've snapped a few off) - know how to turn your bike into a single speed, if you totally blow up a derailleur. - zap straps, can be used to fix racks, or broken straps. - one set of extra brake pads, I've cooked a set of new ones off during a 1000 km ride at the worst time. (excluding bikepacking races) Other advice and the most common issue I see on the trail... overextended expectations in milage or time. - plan for only 50% of your usually daily max. - managing non-riding chores always takes longer than you think. - Try to have a planned lunch spot that can be a camping spot. If you're running ahead or behind, you know that you only have to go about half your planed distance to camp. Bikepacking is not as bad if you're in an area that allows wild camping. - if you've planned correctly, you should have enough in your legs to double your milage on one day to get out of a jam, or to a town, etc. - and when planning routes, think about bailout points, or ways to design a route that you can cut out milage if you need to.... and maybe some detour plans. - having this under control will allow you to "enjoy" a trip, rather than feeling like your rushing to the next point, or camp. - Be flexible with that plan. If you just want to chill out and explore somewhere. Do it, and cut out something else. It's not about the miles, it's all about the smiles. oh... and a metal spork. LOL.

We are lucky to have such an amazing play ground. I was wondering what kind of handlebar is that one? Hola! BIENVENIDA a BC mi amigo! You have lots of great areas to explore. My handlebars are Jones H-Bars. They have been cut down a bit, and I'm running Ergon grips. I have a fused wrist, so I need something that conforms to my ergonomic limitations. Another great multi position handlebar is Surley's Moloko bar. Thanks for watching. This fall trip was originally planned to go into a lot of different areas, but due to the smoke and a few other factors it changed along the way. I have ridden the KRV countless times, and while it's an amazing ride, it gets a lot of attention, so I felt like taking a little different route to my destination. The KRV should be on everyone's "must do" list. Old Hedley Road, parallels the river for about 30km and joins the main highway about 6km west of Hedley, and it's a mother 25km to the town of Keremeos (services).
I absolutely loved this series! Watched every minute of it.

Think about getting a fat bike. I love my fat bike for bikepacking trips year round.
I've been thinking about a 29r+ bike, but for now where there is no snow or sand, I think I'll wait.
