On this day in 1987 {November 21st} Wa Wa Nee performed "Sugar Free" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'...
At the time "Sugar Free" was at position #41 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, the week before it had peaked at #35, and it spent thirteen weeks on the Top 100...
The Australian group had one other Top 100 record, "Stimulation", it reached #86 in 1986...
Between 1986 and 1989 in their native Australia they charted seven times, three made the Top 10, with their biggest hit being the above "Stimulation", it peaked at #2* for one week...
Sadly, lead singer Paul Gray passed away at the young age of 54 on April 24th, 2018 {myeloma}...

* The week "Stimulation" peaked at #2 on the Australian Kent Music Report chart, the #1 record for that week was "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)" by Samantha Fox...

Waa Waa Nee were so big in the 80's. The lead singer, (stuck to think of his name right now, I think his first name is Paul.) is often touring with Brian Mannix, Scott Carne, Dayle Ryder in a group called Absolute 80's.
