David, the car does look great. But you could reduce cost more and make it look even better buy reducing the size of the GIGANTIC front end. Mid engine cars normally have a smaller front end. GEN III, move the front wheels back a bit, reduce the front making it more sleek and not so long. I'm an industrial designer and this is just my humble opinion. Again, I love the GTM, it looks amazing, just something to think about. Great job so far and wishing you much success!
OMFG!! This is a must have! I've been a fan of Factory 5 since well before the GTM. The Type 65 coupe has been on my wish list for a long time now, but I think I might bump it down in favor of this Gen 2 GTM. I like all your improvements and think the car really looks great. Moving the vents off the wheel wells did a lot. Thank you so much for the work you've been doing refining your product line. Detroit is definitely in your shadow.
Getting GMPP to put together a kit is a nice touch. I don't mind killin' a convertible 'vette with an auto for the project though! If GMPP can beat the price of a used Corvette, that's the way I'll go for sure. It really sounds like you're well on your way to creating a kit that includes everything except the wrenches! Way to go! As soon as I'm finished with my Blazer I'll be placing my order!
Yeshua Hamashiach is God in the flesh, the Son of God, the Word of God, and he died so that you may be presented blameless in the sight of the Father. And so you may inherit his kingdom. The LORD Yeshua Hamashiach is the only way to the Father and his kingdom. Repent of your sins accept him into your life as your LORD and Savior before it's too late, every day is not guaranteed. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me. May God bless you all.
Glad you like the Gen 2 GTM! Unfortunately, the kit is not currently in production, and we are not sure when production may resume as well as what updates and changes there may be. Stay tuned to our website and social media pages as we'll post updates on the GTM and other projects we're working on as the info becomes available.
great stuff. i can't wait to hear more on the trans. also had seen the episode with the crate motor & i say the 8k ish for it is a bargain! i like the wheels to
sweet. I want one.. who cares about sound damp. It can have a Ls6 or 7.. thats all the sound you need. :p And cant get any more reliable then GM factory parts.. in a supercar body. I think I found my perfect ride. All it needs is a cork supercharger or twin turbos and you will be good to go!
Great runthrough, it was a pleasure to watch. I must suggest that you smash that so-called "HD" camera and get a real one, this video is more like bad 360p rather than 720p HD.
I would love to build one of these cars, but I agree that it's the cost of getting the body painted that scares the bejesus out of me. It's nice to see you guys taking steps to cut that down.
Would it be possible to get a paddle shift gearbox on one of these? It's just faster, and all the Euro cars this competes with have them, and I think it would be a nice detail for a touring spec.
What is the basic Hr bulid time for this New 2 Gen GTM? my question I have is this I have a LS-9 Engine would I need to do some mods to make it fit or should I look for a LS-7 ? Also will this new trans work with 800+ RWHP and what about a Keith Black Engines I have one I can have.
@radvigor Some of the "professional" builders say it takes about 200 or so hours to build. Considering there are 2080 hours in a regular work year, that's not a lot of time. That said I'd still double or tripple that time at least. Learning and building at the same time means you'll be building it several times in your head and thinking as far ahead as you can before you even touch a part in that area.
@Deffe200SX Guessing from the steel tube chassis and Simpson belts, it will destroy anything lighter and bounce off anything heavier. Occumants will be disembowled or beheaded by the g-forces.
@radvigor the HP rating of the new transaxle is 650 HP. i would think alot would have to be done to a LS-9 to make it fit since it has a front mounted throttle body. You could use an LS-9 long block and put an Eaton R2300 (basically the same type of supercharger on the LS-9) with a rear facing throttle body, just to make it super easy to install and i bet its cheaper as well
@7upbottlesdown You need to find a C5 corvette for a few suspension things, brakes, the motor, and ECM. But other than that you need a transaxle and 200 hours of free time.
the whole new transaxle idea is great, 600hp rated 5 speed is awesome, but i was thinking it would be a 6 speed and have a 750hp rating with c5 corvette t-56 transaxle gear ratios.
i dont think so.. there are changes, but really just a few adjustments that make it look better. i think the only real enhancements are in the slight suspension adjustment and the diffuser, as the rest just make it a little easier on the average joe builder
@caesarjamesaugustus I don't remember where I read it, but I remember it being said that the GTM was supposed to be a GT40 kit car. However Ford stopped selling licenses for the body shape because the Ford GT was about to release. You can see amazing similarities to the GT40 in the front end of the GTM, but it could be complete internet rumor, too.
@7upbottlesdown If I were you I would go to the FFR Build School (Howell, Michigan). You won't be building a GTM, but you will learn how to build a Factory Five there. And you'll defenetly learn many of the basics. And just like shananagans5 said, you can always pay someone else to do the parts you can't do. And there is the FFcars forum, too!
@7upbottlesdown It is fairly hard to build a car. I haven't built a kit but I have built several off-road cars. I would suggest at least moderate skill before even trying to build one. That said my first real project was rebuilding and puting a big block into my Camaro back in HS. It took a long time but it turned out fairly well.(diligence pays off) You gotta start somewhere and if there is something you cant figure out you can always pay someone to do that part.
I like kit cars because fiber glass is actually a high performance material, better than what's used in mass production. not a huge fan of this crude ford gt steroid quarter back look but the quality looks good. I would encourage developing a second sportscar model that is more elegant, not quite as wide, finer features, narrower wheels, super light, no over the top air intakes, aerodynamic and with electric drive in mind. maybe call it Europa.
@kaylynne88 look at 6:03. gap looks normal. the quality all depends on who builds the car. the car runs the price because of the engineering behind it. it is technically a competitor of any Ferrari or Porsche based on power, weight, aerodynamics, and skid pad results. it does come with an interior and the only suspension components you need are the control arms from a c5 vette (cheap). you and all the people bitching about its "quality" are people who probably can't afford one anyway.
@Casey1821 Hi, Its not about the money I'd save by buying a brand new car, its about the fact that I "built" my own that matters... And when you say 2400lbs, you mean minus the drivetrain right? (read engine+transmission+exhaust etc...)
@112namrepus I've seen 5.4 engine swaps done in mustangs and the results are disappointing. The 5.4 iron block is very heavy and I'd hate to upset the balance of the car both in terms of handling and the suspension. I like what Capstone has done and turned this car into a hybrid powered by microturbines. Hate to say it but that's the way of the future.
Hi first I like to complement you for a greate car. Im totaly sold in the design. But I could not find any real information about safety? Do you got any more details in form of safety and such. what happends in case of an accident?
Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to mount an electric motor to each of the rear wheels and convert this to an electric car? I was looking for a project to make an electric car from scratch, and this looks like an awesome place to begin with... Also, would it be possible to fabricate the chassis from aluminum to cut weight?
I just don't like the splitter. I think it should stay flat, not bump up in the center. It would look way better. Plus it would let less air under the car, increasing downforce.
Hey it loks like a Ferarri, wait no, it looks like a GT-R! hmm wait no, it's a Ford GT? no? Aston Martin? Hmmmmm they really nailed all the design cues.
No need to win the lottery, only $25,000. All you have to do is find an LS engine ($5,000 to $10,000) and a Porsche G50 gearbox ($5,000). For $40,000 + labor you have yourself a supercar that turns heads and stomps other supercars.
The problem with this car is it weighs 2500 lbs or so and you want the customer to use suspension from a 3600 lb ( Corvette ) car...WRONG....You need to have an engineer design suspension parts for this car...Beautiful car great design, but not the right suspension
Prime example of an uneducated individual... This car uses the control arms, spindles, brakes, engine, fuel tanks, and a few other odds and ends from the Corvette. The coilover setup is designed for the weight of this car. Not to mention that the attachment points for the suspension ultimately dictate the spring rates and shock valving due to how the weight of the car is leveraged against them. If you actually went on the Factory Five website and looked at the parts list for this car, you would know that your comment is BS. All it takes is a little research to avoid spewing nonsense for all of the general public to read.
David, the car does look great. But you could reduce cost more and make it look even better buy reducing the size of the GIGANTIC front end. Mid engine cars normally have a smaller front end. You guys are awesome. I can't wait to own a GTM some day. Hopefully you guys still make GTM's in 15 or so years!
3 year update? :)
7 year update ?

love the design and the passion of Factory 5.
great stuff. i can't wait to hear more on the trans.

Will there be a gen 3
On this KIT - Concept one of Mate Rimac was build. He is selling his car for around 800 000 euros :D
omg I love u guys
Will y’all have an option for a trans with a high bhp rating because I’ve got an lsx with twin turbo so I’ll need a heftier trans for it
just beautifuul
This video was posted 8 years ago, Is there going to be a further update to the GTM platform?
And Your comment was posted 2 years ago.. Whats up 😁
@@silvia-nw8fz and your comment 4 months ago :P I guess the answer to the original question is the F9R ?
dave this is a awesome car
I would love to build one of these cars, but I agree that it's the cost of getting the body painted that scares the bejesus out of me. It's nice to see you guys taking steps to cut that down.
Love it
am still building he first gen GTM
Nice looking car
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!!!
when you buy the car from the website do you get all the parts or do you have to go find some
this is comparable to cars at $75,000.00 to $100,000.00 or more. Great Work!
Wow if I win the lottery im going to buy one of these Awesome cars!!!!
You don’t have to win the lottery to get one of these cars
what trany was that in the vid, i no its a mendeola but what model?
Would it be possible to get a paddle shift gearbox on one of these? It's just faster, and all the Euro cars this competes with have them, and I think it would be a nice detail for a touring spec.
It's better looking than the RCR SL-C coupe but not designed as well. So the choice has just got a lot harder!
How is the car wth respects to being used as a daily driver? how is reliability? And with respects to sound insulation for daily driving.
@leloodallasmultipass This is what I'm curious about...
How do all kit cars stack up to the Ultima GTR, in all aspects..?
why is the steering wheel mounted wrong?
Lovely looking car are they available in the UK ?
oh my god the front end is similar to an f50 gt! i think i'm gonna HAVE to order one lol.
and what exactly is the cost? how much to get one exactly like the yellow one in the vid?
how much is the kit if you have a doner c5 corvette?
@radvigor Some of the "professional" builders say it takes about 200 or so hours to build. Considering there are 2080 hours in a regular work year, that's not a lot of time. That said I'd still double or tripple that time at least. Learning and building at the same time means you'll be building it several times in your head and thinking as far ahead as you can before you even touch a part in that area.
it is a wonderful product! Any chance you'll do a body that sort of reflects the Veyron profile, but with a nice looking nose of your own design?
@Deffe200SX Guessing from the steel tube chassis and Simpson belts, it will destroy anything lighter and bounce off anything heavier. Occumants will be disembowled or beheaded by the g-forces.
@radvigor the HP rating of the new transaxle is 650 HP. i would think alot would have to be done to a LS-9 to make it fit since it has a front mounted throttle body. anyone know the weight of the body and chassis? including glass
@7upbottlesdown You need to find a C5 corvette for a few suspension things, brakes, the motor, and ECM. But other than that you need a transaxle and 200 hours of free time.
What about a 6 speed manual transmission for an option?
@usernamesnot how did that work out?
I have a 99 firebird, can I use that as a donor car?
the whole new transaxle idea is great, 600hp rated 5 speed is awesome, but i was thinking it would be a 6 speed and have a 750hp rating with c5 corvette t-56 transaxle gear ratios.
Need to thinout the headlights and I'll make mine elecric thank you
i dont think so.. there are changes, but really just a few adjustments that make it look better. i think the only real enhancements are in the slight suspension adjustment and the diffuser, as the rest just make it a little easier on the average joe builder

The yellow one had Rhode Island plates
will you the make the gtm in an automatic version or will that be the decision of the owner?
true but,
how many people have a GTM?
can someone who barely know what there doin bulid one of these faily good or basically what im tryin to say is is it easy to build
I LOVE IT YOU NEED A METAL
Post vids of the new carbon fiber font engine mold!
I am about convinced that I should build one of these now I just need to convince my wife
its not bad once your in, but it will be one hell of an acrobatic act getting in.
@masterchief819 well its a kit car so you build it but if you have some one build it and you do not have a donor car ~30-50K i think
@7upbottlesdown It is fairly hard to build a car. I haven't built a kit but I have built several off-road cars. I would suggest at least moderate skill before even trying to build one. It certainly looks much easier to build than IT was before but how does it compare to building an Ultima?
looks like a NSX (the back part) and Ferrari in the front
I like kit cars because fiber glass is actually a high performance material, better than what's used in mass production. not a huge fan of this crude ford gt steroid quarter back look but the quality looks good. Are kit cars street legal?

Go with these guys!! Please do not go with Super Replicas THERE WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY! These guys are the real deal!

Yeah... Kit cars will be the super cars of the near future. So we are down to about $40K to finish the car now?
i just need to come back alive from deployment and i'll start my project
My Channel so did you come back alive or nah?
I just don't like the splitter. I think it should stay flat, not bump up in the center. It would look way better. Plus it would let less air under the car, increasing downforce.
because that's what its
Cool car only if it was bigger.
Hope they knew the steering wheel is upside down..
Every Factory Five car that is owned by Factory Five has the wheel upside down. Not sure what the deal is there.
the steering wheel is upside down
Hey it loks like a Ferarri, wait no, it looks like a GT-R! hmm wait no, it's a Ford GT? no? Aston Martin? Hmmmmm they really nailed all the design cues.
But it has no bumpers.! 😳
Can't wait to bye mine 🇦🇺🤑🤑🤑👀🤣🤣🤣
for 40k i could make a vette even faster...tube chassis, twin turbo, fully adjustable suspension
No.
Rather build an RCR GT 40 : ))
@fs93543 What... the.... fuck...... I thought it only costed around $50,000 complete.
When I hit the lottery, I am getting one... I dont have to hit the lottery for millions... just enough to cover the cost of my debt and this car!
There's always financing.....
wanna build this car with a sbf thatd be BA screw the corvete stuff
Can you make it as efficient as OPEL ECO SPEEDSTER so I can give the oil industry the middle finger as I fly by.
i have a boxster thats just beggin for a 818 body swap.... lol
never trust a man who tucks in thier shirt with no belt...
Boxer Boss Never pay attention to a man’s comment when he spells “Their” “thier”!!!
Hug ?
can you add nos
Yes
No need to win the lottery, only $25,000. All you have to do is find an LS engine ($5,000 to $10,000) and a Porsche G50 gearbox ($5,000). For $40,000 + labor you have yourself a supercar that turns heads and stomps other supercars.
Double that figure, and you might be somewhat close, realistically.
yeah ...without the doner car math boy...they want you to give them a vette AND 40k
Ok mate two things not loving the car, give me a gt40 anyday, and the elephant in the room sort the dress code Jay Leno
Had me until he said 5 Speed trans
But you can choose what to mate the engine to
like 4 maybe 5 have been duped...jajaja
this guy should be on the american top gear instead of those other wankers
How much less expensive is the new trans? That was one of the biggest turn-offs of the last generation... a $5500+ G5 trans.
The problem with this car is it weighs 2500 lbs or so and you want the customer to use suspension from a 3600 lb ( Corvette ) car...WRONG....You need to have an engineer design suspension parts for this car...Beautiful car great design, but not the right suspension
