    Teton Sports Camp Pillow Review
What it is : Luke is back with another review and this time, he’s reviewing a camp pillow from Teton Sports.
Find out in this episode all that it does right and areas where it may fall behind.
    Materials :
Fill : SuperLoft Elite 4-Channel Hollow Fiber
Inner Shell that’s around the insulation : P5 Poly Hi-Count
Outer Shell Outer: 100% Brushed Flannel with Envelope-Style Opening
Storage Bag : Taffeta Stuff Sack with Drawstring Closure
    Dimensions Stored : 4" x 7" x 9"
    Dimensions Unfolded : 12” x 18” x about 3”
    Weight : .8lb
Colors : - Black and red flannel
    Brown and red flannel
    Yellow and green
    Grey and red
    Price : $18
    Review Pros :
very comfortable - more comfortable than many down filled pillows that I have tested out that are much more expensive.
    lightweight
    Overall size is good
Fabric is very comfortable and feels good against the skin
handles being compressed very well - I’ve had this for 2 years, it has always been compressed and it is still comfortable
Fluffs up very good considering that it is a synthetic material
When folded in half, it offers a lot cushion
Works great in a tent and just as well in a hammock.
    - Has done a great job of retaining its shape even after 2 years of use.
    - Quiet - doesn’t make any noise when moving around and making adjustments. That’s not going to be the case with all camp pillows.
    - Machine washable
    - Price is good
    - Lifetime warranty
    - Storage bag is large enough for the pillow to fit back into it easily
    Review Cons :
I mentioned that it isn’t heavy and that’s true but it is bulky
Will require as much care and maintenance as a real pillow. But you don’t have to worry about puncturing it and it going flat.
Some might complain about the size but it’s a camp pillow - it was designed with a balance in mind - size, weight, compressibility, etc.
Comfort - I only mentioned this as a con because of this - comfort is going to be subjective and this is especially true with a pillow. Some want an extra thick pillow, some want extra firm, or not as firm, softer etc. This is one of those items where some are going to love it and some are going to want something else.
    Summary :
Overall, this is a great camp pillow; it’s not one that I always carry with me when I’m backpacking due to the larger stuff size but when I’m camping in the truck, in Bento or in the Van, this is what I am using.
The price is good, the size is good, comfortable especially when folded in half.
The overall size is an important aspect, consider the dimensions so you can decide whether or not it will work for you and your comfort needs.
I can easily give this a thumbs up, it’s a great pillow.

My workaround for a pillow is to pack a spare pillowcase, turn my jacket inside out and stuff it in the pillowcase.

This reminds me of the hotel pillows that I hate with a passion; I have to arrange 3 of them together to almost be useful. I just bring my pillow from home (of course, that does limit my trail camping, but so would a night of sleeping on a bad pillow at my age).

They are a nice pillow, it is a little large in pack size but totally worth taking it for getting a good nights sleep, I currently use an airplane pillow I “borrowed” when I flew in business 😂

So my wife and I bought this pillow for our grandson's camping with the scouts adventures this summer which includes the upcoming National Jamboree in West Virginia. When he got home last night from his first week of summer camp he told us that pillow was the best thing he brought with him. Apparently the camp cot provided for him was not in very good shape, the pillow he said provided so much comfort to him he was able to sleep soundly despite the poor cot. Now I'm sure all the activities he was involved in had a lot to do with it too. Fact is, he loved that pillow! Thanks for the review, you made us look like smart grandparents! Thanks for what you do!

It looks very similar to the My Pillow Roll & Go. If the case is sewn the same way, you can roll the pillow up and tuck it inside of the short overflap on the case either for storage or to use as an extra firm pillow.

WRT bulk: if you put mine (thermarest) in a ruck on the bottom or even the side of the pack you can compress it to nearly nothing by packing stuff above it. It looks like that one would be the same if you just crushed it under other stuff in your pack.

My tent and my sleeping bag are both Tetons, and I'd been considering getting this pillow. I do love this company and their products. I was just worried about the longevity of the loft, considering how cheap it is. So I'm very glad to hear it's still lofting after 2 years even with materials that justify an under 20 price tag. I think I'm about to go buy it right now :D

    • @__GALLANT__
      @__GALLANT__ Рік тому

@@Funkteon True. $7.00 at "OZTrail". Of course it's an Australian product and they don't sell them in the USA or ship them so you have to fly to Australia to get one. Qantas has round-trip business class flights for $8,812.00. So adding the seven bucks for the pillow, it would cost you $8,819.00 for that pillow. I'm thinking the $18.00 for Luke's recommendation may be a better idea. But that's just me. : / 🙃

I'm a 2 pillow person. These are not great for backpacking but I take one anyway. I put my inflatable on my sleeping pad. It has a strap.that holds it in place. I put my Teton Sports pillow on top of that. I let a little air out of the inflatable and get an amazing night's sleep this way. I should mention that I am a side sleeper and this method works awesome for me. I call it my luxury item. Absolutely great pillow for the price!

i brought a thermarest pillow almost 30 years ago.the seams and shell have never needed mending despite lots of use and many washings. it has a pocket and drawstring with a toggle lock and you roll it up into the pocket then tighten the drawstring to store it. when unrolled it fluffs up in just a minute or less. and it is only now after 30 years having some of the stuffings breaking down a bit; but it is still perfectly usable. it was and is a great camping pillow. unfortunately i cannot remember the model.

We love ours, we have 4. I got one to go backpacking then my wife stole it to use for our daughter in her car seat so I got another one and she stole that when our son came along then I just bought 2 more. We use them in combination with air pillows (we are side sleepers) the first one is about 7 years old and we get it mixed up with the 3 year old ones all the time, they hold up well. My only gripe is I wish it was thicker but I'm also 6'8 375 so nothing quite fits me hence using with air pillows for side sleeping.
Overall can't beat the quality to price ratio

How does this handle in the laundry? For reasons of health I don't normally use home pillows longer than a year (if that) and that because even if they claim the pillow can be run through the wash they cant. On my cot I use a baby blanket wrapped around my heavy shirt and yes a baby blanket is a good size to drape over your knees when sitting around and your legs get the cold feels, or folded onto of my sitting mat keeps the backside warm too.

The difference between a comfy sleep or not can be the difference between a good day or not. Good quality sleep is definitely an issue to consider…

My daughter purchased this pillow for me at Christmas. I haven’t used it yet but will be taking it on a backpack trip this Thursday. I’ll review it for you and share my thoughts. Thanks for reviewing it, Luke. 😎

I want to know if it gets wet how long will it dry out vs an air pillow? If it gets wet during day hike, will it dry out when I'm ready to crash out?

Lol, my husband and I debate pillows while hiking. I just use my dry bag stuffed with my puffy and extra clothes, which I carry anyway. He has a Trekology pillow.

The Z-packs stuff sack \ pillow it’s a good option.

Nothing beats the Thermarest pillow, I’ve tried them all

The best solution for packing is not the stuff sack, just use a thick large ziplog bag, put the pillow in and roll from the end and squeeze out all the air and seal. This will make it totally flat and stay flat inside any backpack.

Missing A trick. The slot/ pocket in one end means you can fold the pillow over from where the closed end is and tuck it in. It massively reduces the size off the pillow when stored. Coleman did a pillow that folds that way and it's small 😉

I put the video on pause, then bought the red and black checkered pillow. Now that the brain tumor is finally gone I plan on putting a rooftop tent on my Jeep Cherokee, then have an adventure filled summer.

the pillow is probably the most important. the fact that the surface you lie on is a little hard and lumpy doesn't matter if you have a good pillow. have tried different types, the ones you blow up, they rarely stay under the head. I use something similar to what I have at home.

I'm actually in the market for a good pillow that I want to take on week long trip. Looks like you can get this pillow in Germany for around 60€. Which is roughly $66. Guess I'll check another pillow out instead..

Teton is a very intersting company. Their offering makes so much sense.
There are some bugs on their website though :)

The inflatable pillows.... have one, hate it. My neck aways hurt the next morning. The Thermarest packable foam pillow type is what I prefer, despite being bulky. A small compromise for pain free the next morning.
