This video is super useful. My timer didn't need to be replaced, it had just skipped out of position. Watching this died me just got to get to it, and what it should look like when it was working right. I was about to buy a new washer! Thank you. You really helped me out.

I think mine is the same. I don't want to have to open it up, but this video makes me believe I just need to make sure the timer is seated correctly and the retaining screw is tight.

*Perfect step by step… I would change one thing… remove the control knob before you unscrew the back.*

I just watched this video went out got a small screw driver and my needle nose and in less than 2 minutes maybe 3 it is working .The timer ring was pushing in the metal pointed prong the knob connects too.I was able to grab with the needle nose the pointed shaft and align the ring and snap it in place the knob slid on and the plastic retainer clipped on it is running again.Thank you very much for this video sir.God bless

My GLWP2000M0WW broke... the timer seemed very loose so it was impossible to pull or push the knob in or out.
Showing how to remove the plastic clip that holds the knob on helped !
I was trying to remove the round metal spring.. then I saw the clip in between the knob and the big white plastic "washer".
The timer works fine, but the plastic retaining clips on the back of the panel and the timer broke off, which made the timer loose.
I cut some metal from an old license plate, and epoxied a piece to the one on the timer, and the other one on the back of the panel.
Waiting for the epoxy to dry completely.
The alternative was to let the timer hang out and use two hands to manipulate it... I don't think my wife would have liked that... HAH !

Very good. I have the same machine and it was a great help!!. The only thing was I can't see how to make the timer snap into position before installing the screw. Could not see anything broken off or missing. So I added duct tape to try to hold it down during pushing it in. I may have to add a bolt coming thru the sheet metal in the back to provide support on that end of it. Thanks again.

I have this issue as well. The plastic tabs have broken and that leaves the selector assembly hanging by the one screw. I am considering duct tape right now. How has yours held up?

On my washer there is a small auxiliary clip that holds the mode control housing body to the rear side of the bezel. In addition to this clip, there is a 5/16” screw that holds the housing in place. My clip had broken off, when I pushed on the control knob to shut the washer off, the whole housing pushes away from the bezel and does not shut the machine off. The control knob just flops around and did not function properly.
I made a stainless steel auxiliary retaining clip to hold the housing to the back side of the bezel and super glued it in place. It’s a tall z shape that catches on the side of the housing near the parting line alignment tabs. The bezel looks like a polycarbonate ABS blend and takes well to epoxy or super glue. On the part of the z shape that is glued to the bezel I drilled some transfer holes in the metal for the glue to bite into.
The retaining clip height dimension is .875”.

My timer works fine but seems to have become loose somehow and it caused my control knob skirt to pop out. I've been able to realign it again by reinstalling the knob but I usually have to pull up on the timer stem a bit before the knob skirt can be pop back into place. It works long enough for me to be able turn the dial and set a load cycle but then everything pops out of place again after a few times of pulling and pushing back in the control knob. Could the retaining screw for the timer on the inside of the console panel be the issue?

I have 2 issue, one when I turn the knob it doesn't adjust to how I want to set it, I have to use pliers to hear the clicking sound, the other is after it washes, it won't spin I have to put my hand spin it and then it gets strength to spin. What could it be. Please help me. Luzc

Is it possible that model HTWP1400F2WW By Hotpoints bad timer would cause it to fill up, wash briefly, slow rpm spin , then rapid rpm spin( no draining) water stays in and due to high rpm slings water over top ring and out over flow pipe.
While set on light permanent press, extra small load. Level of water fill was correct, pump can be made manually to pump out water so pumps good. No debris in pump. Lid switch shuts down the spin when lids opened.
I can manually turn timer so it pumps in water, agitates, spins both slow and rapidly, pumps out water. I can not stop spinning with timer moved to off position or by pushing in timer knob. Only by lifting lid or unplugging. Pressure line to level switch can be blown into and itll stop water and then begin agitating off and on 3 times then slowvrpm spin that eventually changes high rpm spin thus sling water over top ring.
