Those were Jack Smith's circumstances. His legal moves were fast and sophisticated. I think if he had another 18 months, even with these events, he would have won. Also, I have 10 bucks that says Aylene Cannon goes on the Supreme Court. Smith knows he is out of time and the corruption only grows. If there is a chance to know, by a report, what a trial would show, then I want to see it, not abandon the chance to get it.
That’s the hand you’re dealt in criminal cases. Did Smith or Garland decide NOT to challenge and have Cannon recused. Why so lackadaisical about going after Trump in DC. Who stepped on the brakes instead of the gas? Who didn’t wake up until after the House 1/6 committee forced the Smith appt. Process is outcome determinative.
@johnflannery2185 All well taken. I don't defend Garland. He had grand jury subpoena power all during the House hearings and before. Nearly two years lost. Smith was in Europe. Without that, Trump would have been tried, on the merits, while avoiding possible delay tactical error of appeals on jurisdiction. I will admit surprise at the overt corruption of Cannon. But she was sly about it and her BS scheduling and sitting on nonsense rulings. Maybe the 11th Circuit would have moved fast on recusal but any number of months to get it and set up new shop ( with all the "up to speed" BS for a replacement) was a serious time concern. Smith repeatedly asked for a trial date. Meanwhile, the SC took seven months to manufacture legal nonsense on a case they should not have accepted at all. To me, the Garland and Smith conduct are not directly comparable. I admire what Smith tried to do and believe he would have succeeded absent court corruption. The federal cases are dead but not from insufficient effort. At this point, nothing keeps the federal cases alive. On the other hand, Marshan could hammer Trump, without interference. Time to start relearning how to message just a bit more smoothly and make sure my message is understood. Ive heard good work does not go unnoticed. We shall see. tyvm JF.
Good evening. Today we had the pool cage that Milton blew away re-erected. This new one is much more robust than the one it replaces. While this is a boon in that we can now open our doors and let the fresh air breeze through the house, it drastically changes the dynamic of my budding friendship with the blue jays. Our morning meetings will have to be more deliberate. I can't just open the sliding glass door, step out and drop the peanuts at my feet anymore. We'll have to move our breakfast venue outside the lanai. Some relationships are worth a little work. On the "Fate of the Democracy" front, I'm beginning to play a game with myself to try to imagine where the Cabinet nominations are really originating. I include Vance in this as well. So far, all but two seem to be not Cabinet Secretary choices in the sense that title has been used heretofore. Hegseth, Stefanik, and Gaetz are pretty clearly Trump's (or maybe Bannon and Miller's) ideas. They are to be his strings to a completely puppetized Executive. Vance was a Thiel purchase. Gabbard, though, is the most intriguing, literally, so far. She is almost surely a Putin behest. By the way, I think Musk bought himself a seat at The Chef's Table and Trump will soon tire of him when the foreign money starts to flow. All that said, this reality show is getting much too real for my liking. Unlike my situation here in Florida, after the storm wiped away my pool cage, I have been able to build another, more robust one. This was possible because my house was intact and I have good insurance. If these yayhoos manage to blow down the country, we are homeless and who will be our insurance? I hear a lot of folk saying we should simply stand back and let MAGA have what they voted for. Gabbard makes me think that's too dangerous. We may, in fact, not be able to stop it but I think we'd better think that through. I also now worry if that message might not be one some foreign actors might promulgate to discourage resistance. Extreme vigilance, caution and solidarity are the order of the day, it would seem to me.
On a lighthearted note...frumpy upstate NY's Stefanik sure looks like she got herself a stylist? Mom always said---a little botox & a fresh box of makeup CAN get you into the UN as an ambassador!
I agree. A report is worthless except for its historic value of stating what could have/should have happened but didn't. That's assuming it doesn't get axed or buried, of course.
I am so very concerned about this idea of bypassing senate confirmation hearings to get incompetent people in office. We cannot allow these changes to take place that will allow djt to take over our government. He needs to know he is not a king or a dictator. Than,s for your daily thoughts John. Dictators want yes men, not competent men. The department may turn into the injustice department, but Gaetz is a bridge too far, and the advice and consent rule is clearly constitutional. I don't know how they think they can pull that off. Hopefully the republic will survive, perhaps for motives less than ideal.🗽🇺🇲⚖️

Thank @JohnFlannary. The talk was very interesting and informative, refreshing and crunchy. Makes me want to go out and walk which would be good for me. Thank you so much.
Walking can help you find the media res - the middle way.
Thank you … the weight of democracy was on AG Merrick Garland’s shoulders … and he shrugged it off. And now the rabbit has the gun
Thank you John!🙏💕
I agree. A report is worthless except for its historic value of stating what could have/should have happened but didn't. That's assuming it doesn't get axed or buried, of course.
DeJoy will be staying at the Postal Service....Thanks Joe !
I am so very concerned about this idea of bypassing senate confirmation hearings to get incompetent people in office. We cannot allow these changes to take place that will allow djt to take over our government. He needs to know he is not a king or a dictator. Than,s for your daily thoughts John. I enjoy than greatly❤
We're doomed! Is there anybody that can help us? Thank you john
Yes. Us. And an unforeseen development - those happen ALL the time.
@@dawnjohnson8739 yes
We must save ourselves. Continue to stay informed and call our reps.
Have courage! Those who will help are God and Us. Resist! Become involved. Be a thorn in the side of the people who will eventually shift into a place where they will make a difference. Never back down! And most importantly, know you are not alone! We're with you. 👍🏼😊🙏🏼✝️🕊️
Great conversation... Heaven help us... But I must say our Justice Department has failed these past 8 years............ and that is my opinion ..Too many have been bought and paid for to look the other way.... Enjoy your evening...
Thank you, John.
Regarding Gaetz ethics report. Now that Johnson has refused to release the ethics committee report we can be pretty confident there is some damning info in it. So why doesn't the DOJ subpoena the report from Congress?
Thank you John. 😊
I think it was Thune that said yesterday.."if Trump says jump 3feet and scratch your head ..our job is to jump 3feet and scratch our head"..😢
It wasn’t John Thunder. He’s taking Mitch McConnels job. It was some other congressman that out trump back in power by not removing him after impeachment. A yes man. T is filling his cabinet with those types. Raging Wolves every damn one of them.
Cowardice
It was not Thune. It was a member of the house from Texas I believe.
Merrick Garland..was he pressured by the federalist society? I just don’t understand how he took 2 years to do anything.
Yes. One wonders.
$$$$?
Garland needs to investigate whether or not Leon Musk interfered, but I doubt he has the courage..
Agree! Trump's intentions are so obvious and in plain sight that they are being missed, maybe deliberately and maybe naively.
Thank you. We want to see that ethics report too considering we own it.
😂😂😂 cognizable talents 😂😂😂 t only wants loyalist criminals, the worse the better. That way he’s got a good grip on them, and it assures they stay loyal.
Thank you John.
Thank You!!💙🙏
Thx John 🌿 Why can’t Biden do something? Assess the incoming threats and take action! 🤷♀️
If you look up the word cowards in the dictionary, you find a picture of The Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building, in DC.
My favorite guy! L9ve your look❤
Have a good meeting!
Not bottom yet,#2, PresBiden set 🥇 standard,#3, Conservative UNSUSTAINABLE by definition 🇺🇸🗽⚖️
Imo these “people “ being appointed and being incompetent are fodder for dear leaders follies. They can’t make a sound judgement so dear leader speaks through them. If there’s fallout he will throw them under the bus. It’s an old movie. The question is what is the path to correct. I dunno maybe I’m wrong.
Thanks! Stay warm. 💞
Thank you John, I've held back my commits for reasons, I have been with you. Believe me I have questions and deep concerns. I'll leave it at that for now. God bless you and yours. To God be All the Glory.
Crazy times John……
...and DOD? he SAID he wants the ability to deploy military against civilians
Yup. It’s what dictators do. And it’s why that’s the first thing t is doing, trying to get a hold of the military.
Thank you John for taking time out of your busy day I have done my small part to make my pleas for justice and to save our democracy I have called the WH twice and made my wishes known take care John
I'm still ashamed of my country, the country I defended, the country that shat on me, and seems to still shit on myself and family.
The Right might be facing off politically vs the Right here in this next year. We can only hope for the best
