I ran at the DII level in grad school when Callum was in the US. I’ve been around since the beginning. It’s been so much fun to say I ran against him in college
currently returning to running after an injury as well, and seeing your perspective on the mental side of dealing with not being able to run was really helpful for me to see. Injury is tough and truly is a roller coaster of good days and bad days. can’t wait to keep following along. keep up the great work, callum!
Thanks for showing all parts of your amazing story; gives us a real insight into being injured as a pro. Amazingly well filmed and edited, as always. Can’t wait for more Callum content!
I admire your positivity through this period. It's really tough to keep a positive attitude and smile. If it happened to me, I would have been so depressed and negative. All the best for your future runs!
You never know how you will react until it happens to you! For me, positivity is the only way, or I would really struggle. I remind myself that people recover from far worse in life & I can cope with this 🙏🏼
Hey man, extremely proud of you. It's extremely tough to work through stuff like this. I'm super excited to see you get back out there and tear up the oval! Also, the thought of someone's spikes slicing your achilles is terrifying. That sounds awful bro
Glad you are back to running🙏 I also fell while running in april, had a knee injured (couldnt bend my leg and was in crutches) Your content came just at the right time :) Unfortunally my injured is flaring up again at the moment😢
Love this journey man🎉 So happy for you to be back running again! Been out for almost an identical period of time to you (December to July) with an illness that I’m only in the last couple weeks able to run properly again this one hits close to home. Freak accidents can happen to anyone, they’re not your fault and that’s often the hardest thing to take.
Great news, and very relatable after getting a stress fracture in my foot in May - finally back to continuous running now 🙌🏼 Thanks for sharing your journey and keeping it real. Onwards!
Time flies by so quickly. We're excited to see how rapidly you'll regain the level of fitness you once had. It would be great if you could document your progress. Good luck to you! The tiger is back in action!
Great to hear you are back running! Not at your level be a competitive age grouper. I broke my leg 7 years ago, had to have two surgeries and was in a cast/boot for 5 months. Did the run walk build back. A few years from now you will be at a place where you don’t think about the achillies but between now and then dont get to high on the highs or low on lows. Focus on the process and be diligent with all the PT and strength work. At my late 30s and into 40s I was able to get better than I was pre injury so no doubt you’ll be hitting PBs in the not too distance future!
Great to see you back running, Callum. I have been through the process of recovering from Achilles surgery (nothing as severe as you underwent) and the first time back running (from memeory it was a 2 minute effort in my case) is very traumatic. Will the leg hold up? Can I remember how to run? From what you said in the video you are aware of all the possible pitfalls ahead and have obviously been very well advised throughout the rehab process so I reckon that you can look forward with confidence. Expect to see you tear up the track in summer 2025!
This is a brilliant watch. Here's to a continued come back through the rest of the year. I'm sure there's much more to come. Nice one Callum and Charlie.
I've been out with achillies tendonitis for 2 months now, nowhere near as bad as you, but I can empathise with all the mental strain injury inflicts on you. Any tips for returning to running would be hugely welcomed! Just did my first easy 5k yesterday - Elliott
