Introduction -
Black Chicken Gravy is an iconic delicacy of Maharashtra. This recipe is dark brown in colour which looks almost, black. And if you are fond of the masala-loaded Chicken Gravy, then try this delicious Black Chicken Gravy made with the goodness of spices and herbs. Its rich, thick gravy is so you can enjoy it with chapati, paratha, roti or even rice. Make this for your family and relish it together.
Black Chicken Gravy Ingredients :
For the Green Spice-mix -
8 Garlic Cloves
2 inch Ginger (chopped)
4-5 Green Chillies
1 cup Coriander Leaves
Water (as required)
For the Marination -
750 gms Chicken
½ cup Yogurt
Salt (as per taste)
3-4 tbsp Pre-made Green Spice-mix
For Black Spice-mix -
1 Onion (charred)
½ Coconut (charred)
Water (as required)
For the Gravy -
4 tbsp Oil
½ cup Onion (chopped)
1 tbsp Green Spice-mix
2-3 tbsp Garam Masala (recipe given below)
1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
Pre-made Black Spice-mix
For the Garnish -
Lemon Juice
Red Chillies
Recipe for the Garam Masala-
4 tbsp Coriander Seeds
3 tbsp Sesame Seeds
10 Spicy Red Chillies
2 Black Cardamoms
7 Cloves
20 Peppercorns
12 Triphals
10 Nagkesar
1 Star Anise
2 Bay Leaves
2 inch Cinnamon Stick
1 Mace
1 tsp Salt

Back in the days we probably didn't have the science to tell us that burnt food is pure carbon and consuming it is carcinogenic! You have such a huge fan following, I wish and hope if you could be a bit mindful and probably read about what I have said and humble request, please take this recipe down.
@@nkiran22 I believe it's an age-old tradition to cook in burnt dry coconut & onion for a few of the most mouth-watering recipes in some parts of Konkan (Maharashtra). It's tried and tested having consumed it since childhood and the Konkan community is still adopting this style of traditional cooking and are still hale and hearty by God's grace. In my opinion Smita ji has done a wonderful job Mam in bringing this recipe to the table. Again, to each his own, no two people think alike, just wanted to share that this technique actually adds flavor to the food, no damage done to me atleast 🙂👍

This curry is best before adding the carbon mixture. If you will intake this type of foods then definitely you will remember one day. Eating spicy is no problem but don't eat charcoal,100% burnt food for color. Suggest to the chief you also don't eat this type of food and don't make this type of food. Doctors are telling these type of foods will cause cancer and this is also happening becoz just think if you are eating a waste material or pure carbon then where it will be deposited ?? or where it will be store ? Definitely, this will impure your blood and make you blood toxic. You can google about this.

Mam can v use black til in a smaller quantity along with onlon and dry coconut paste to get a little dark black colour to the dish .......just a suggestion.
