    Last week i got all the clothes out of my closet and looked at them ! I haven't wore half of them in like 3 years but i'm still keeping them, that's what caused me the weird feeling of not having things to wear despite owning a lot of pieces ! I organized everything and only kept the pieces that i could imagine me wearing them in the next years ! I then asked my cousins whether they wanted some of the pieces i didn't like but were new and pretty and OH MY GOD they were so happy and they found things they really liked and thought were amazing ! For the old things that weren't really pretty but were warm and nice i cleaned them and gave them to families i knew were in need to clothes for winter and everything ! I felt very happy about what i have ! Now i can easily think of what i need to buy even before going to shopping ! I have a picture in my mind about what i need in my closet and what i can wear for 6 hours at school !
    I started thinking of the type of person i want to look for myself ! I like looking innocent and cute the most ! Even though the trends nowadays is more on the casual sporty side i just don't like the way i look because it makes me act a certain way that i don't appreciate ! I like my skirts, dresses or my hoodies and comfy jeans ! I also stopped shipping by internet because everything looks good on the models and because it's not cash i usually spend a lot more than what i'm supposed to ! I like going out, touching the clothes, looking at them, trying them and making sure those are what i want ! If something is cheap that doesn't make it prettier ! Yeah maybe that shirt is like so cheap but i can still save those dollars because i'm not wearing it any time soon

    When I first watched this video nearly 3 years ago I had no idea the impact it would have on me. I've recently been able to start shopping for myself more, and your videos completely shaped the way I think and shop.
    I've found that impulse purchases don't bring me even a fraction of the joy that I get from a highly-researched staple piece.
    I've also been learning how to alter my own clothes, and it's helped me feel so much more confident.
    I've found that keeping a note file on my phone with my current 'To Buy' list has been so beneficial for me. I write down a piece or accessory that I want, and then take mental notes of every time I try to build outfits or think up ways to style other pieces and think to myself "Hmm, I wish I had a white pleated skirt to go with all my pretty tops" or "I wish I had a grey hoodie to put under this flannel"
    If I am in a position where I would HAVE to buy it that day, I think about every way I could style it currently, and how difficult it would be to alter.
    Since first watching your videos I've found my own style to be a lot less 'Classic & Elegant" and darker/alternative/grungy or brighter/flowery/cottagecore. Overall it's a lot more 'Girlish' I'd say. It makes sense, I'm probably doing my whole 'emo teen phase' in my own way, BUT somehow everything you teach still applies to any aesthetic or style.
    Your videos are truly life-changing.
    (Edit: 8 months later and I was totally right, my grunge/alt phase lasted all of 4 months, if that. I'm going back to what I've always loved, Romantic Academia.)

    @biancarivera9342 5 років тому +20

    I've been wanting to change my wardrobe for a while. Because I'm 21 now and I want to be respected and taken more serious. I'm more inclined in dressing in a emo/grunge/ gothic style, which I love, but lately I haven't been feeling sastified with this style. When I was 14-18 I used to feel happy and confident, but when I started college, slowly I've been feeling less confident. So I decided that I want to change my wardrobe, yet not losing my essence. Because what made me realize is that is not wrong to dress this way, what was bothering me was that I felt that I was dressing in a childish way; by wearing grafic teas, shirts with cartoons and etc. And its not bad....but it dosent resonate with me anymore, I just want a more monochrome wardrobe, mostly dark colors because it's how I like it and dress in a edgy way but not looking extravagant. So I'm in process in becoming a more confident and secure version of myself which i hope I can achieve.

      @@kailyndonnelly06 of course!! So what u do is mark how tight u want ur jeans on both sides. So let's say u want to tighten them by an inch, so on both sides u would mark half an inch in. But if your jeans are stretchy I reccomend doing a little more because it loosens throughout the day.
      After marking the ½ inch in, make a long line that starts from the mark and ends at the side of the jeans. Try to make the line kinda long cuz if you dont it might create a corner on the outside of the pants. So for example it should look like this:

This meant shopping in fast fashion stores and buying clothes that wouldn't last long. I'm on a budget but I'm currently trying to build a capsule wardrobe: I have a list of the clothings I need such basic t-shirt, white-button down shirt, etc. Thanks to you I learned to recognize my color pallet in clothing, now I just need to learn to recognize quality clothing so it lasts long.

    "Buying anything that gets your heart racing..." SO true!! I used to do that constantly--now I try to, if I'm shopping online, leaving things in My cart for 24 hrs, then coming back to it when I'm feeling less impulsive. I also go through my other items in my wardrobe too, and if the item doesn't go with multiple things, I typically leave it. Your thoughts on dressing for who you are is gold! When I was a little younger, shopping gave me anxiety because I was always trying to keep up with celebrities or trends. So glad I have realized and embraced that fashion is all about expressing who I am and what I love, not someone else. Also, i used to work at VS too! This is a great video! Subscribed! ❤

    One of the most valuable things I learned is that you don't need to put items on hold and look through each and every shop searching for 'something better'. There's no better. Each piece of clothing is either suitable for you or not. If it is - buy it, if it's not - forget it. Made my life much easier.
