I really enjoyed Convenience Store Woman. I listened to it on audio as well. She was the happiest while working at the store yet others felt that COULDN'T be enough for her. They all judged it. The social commentary was really well done in this book. I went back to see what I said about it on Goodreads: "I have never felt so awkward and yet so in like after reading a book. Most of all I loved the social commentary in Convenience Store Woman."
I listened to this audiobook about a year ago and still feel as in like with it as I did then! Great vlog, Wiebke!

Thanks Mary. It struck me how pushy everyone was and how insecure she was for not understanding social norms and still finding a place she felt at home.

This video is pretty wonderful. I love that you have such lovely cool and damp weather to walk in, and that you share what you are thinking about the characters in your book. (5:05-5:16...I think the word you reference is mooching...but smooching is oddly comparable!)

I'm precisely like you. Other than music, I watch every single UA-cam video at 1.5x - 2.0x speed (you are a 1.75x, btw...lol). Once used to it, normal speed seems like a snail 🐌 . I find myself irl rolling my finger in that "hurry up" motion when people speak. 😂

Yes. Most booktube is on 1.5 some even more. The brain just gets used to it.

Read it earlier this year, or was it last year? what even is time..?
Anyways, I remember really liking the first half, but not loving the second half quite as much.. Loved hearing your thoughts as you go and then a conclusion at the end :)
