Honestly it's so great! The rev had such a kind of old metal and new metal mix to his drumming. Like 1980's meets Mike Portnoy haha Thanks for the comment!! 🤘🤘
Thank you for the comment Darius! I actually just finished recording M.I.A, Brompton Cocktail and Hail to the King (but with slightly different drums 😁🤘). So stay tuned for those, because they turned out SO GOOD! Haha Do you have a favorite a7x song? There are so many! Cheers!🤘
Hey Thanks Marcus! Sorry for the late reply and I'm glad you were digging some of the older covers! This song is one of my favs. especially that snare part were the doubles are mixed in on the hats and splashed right before that breakdown section.

Hey Brayden, There is a lot that goes into the floor tom sound, or drumset for that matter! Type of drums heads you use, mics, actual drum wood/ material, the room your in, how you EQ (or mix) it, how you actually hit the drum, how you tune the drum, etc etc! If you need a trick to get rid of hums and ringing, I recommend drum rings (just cut a hoop out of an old skin). those get rid of some nasty overtones!! rdavidr is a youtuber, I think he has a good video on how to make them! _________________ But here is what I do for the most part. It's a 16x16 Maple floor tom which gives a warm punchyness already, I use an Evans EC2 on the batter and a G1 on the reso side. with the mics, I have a cheapo set of mics right now but I just played around with the EQ and brought up some lows and a but on the high end to get a sound where I thought "Hmm that sounds decent". Also the room I recorded that in was an unfinished basement, so there was no "Sound dampening" in that room. I'll actually be moving the current bass drum mic to the floor tom to see if I can get it dialed in even more. (Recently was able to upgrade to a Shure Beta 52a for the bass drum). Also on how you play, If you notice, I play hard LOL probably more aggressive than I should. But, it just takes time, I spent years just watching the drummers who influenced me the most, then tried mimicking their styles! Tommy Lee, The Rev, Steven Adler, Chris Adler, John Bonham, the list goes on! haha With tuning, my drums are VERY low, but I always keep the reso head slightly tighter than the batter. I think its a trick Bonham used? I could be completely wrong though LOL. I also use a Drumdial to make sure certain lugs aren't cranked. when I record. Anyways, short novel for you to read! The takeaway is just have fun!!! its all about learning and enjoying what you're doing :) Let me know if there are any other questions. Cheers :D
fuck that was fun, again love those little fills, they're perfect man, i wanna make a request for Blinded in Chains off of City of Evil, i fucking love playing along to that track, its a work out
Ooooooo man, good choice, at one I'm fearful of because of that bass drum solo like 3/4 of the way I'll try that pattern out tomorrow and if it turns out well ... I'll do it because that song absolutley rocks!
haha surprisingly not really! :P When I record I usually have a span of 3-4 days (its usually when people are out of the house). So its usually 8 hours/ day getting as much recorded as possible. Hence the gloves! But yeah, they get mangled pretty quick lol
