    Hi. I'm Joey. I sure loved your video. Maybe my dad will take me hunting like this someday when I get older.

    Howdy Jason. This hunt looked a lot like my elk hunt last year! Everything I tried ended in a failure. But I learned from the mistakes and plan to put it all into action this year! Thanks! Later on Jason...

    Jason have followed your hunts from the early Powderhorn Montana. You film it the way it is,every hunt is a memory that can never be taken away. Such is the luck when you hunt with alot of public pressure. No matter thanks again for letting us tag along!

    I like how you intertwined your successful hunt from 4 years ago to the one from 2 years ago and shown the vast difference.
    It is neat to go back to the same place years later and relive such a great memory and hope that history repeats itself.
    One thing nice about Wyoming and Montana is the seasons are long enough and with the right tag 🏷 one can hunt archery 🏹 and come back for rifle if one can swing the time off.

      @@jasonmatzingerofficial amen 🙏 you definitely are and be thankful for those blessings as I know that you are. Whitetail archery 🏹 season 🦌 here in West Virginia lasts from September 29th to December 31st with a couple week rifle season, a week muzzleloader and an early rifle doe season sprinkled in. I am thankful for the many days that we have as an opportunity to hunt.
      As a non resident that lives far away from Wyoming (22+ hours) and a new to elk hunting it would have been tough to pass up the gift of the young 6 point. But someone who is a veteran hunter and lives among the elk, one can afford to be more “selective” and keep the hunt and adventure going, even if it might bite them in the butt with tag 🏷 soup 🍲, but an appreciation of their past opportunities.
      You’re welcome Jason I always enjoy the great stories that you put out there.

    Great episode, hunting is memorable in so many ways.

    GREAT VIDEO! One thing the audience may or may not know is, when filming a hunt, a filming permit must be acquired which restricts you to a certain area for hunting. This limits you to an area that may or may not be productive. This is why the filmed hunter cannot simply hunt several areas and does not reflect upon elk populations state wide.

    Great Hunt! Thanks for taking us along. I , and I suppose a lot of other hunters know the experience of not seeing the game that we are after on our quests. That's why it is called hunting . Nice looking country out there. Oh and , what calibre of rifle did you take along this time?

    I think there are a lot of good areas that get shown on UA-cam that the following years get a big influx of hunters. If any prominent points are shown or certain topography, hunters will scour google earth to find out where it is. Never underestimate the abilities of lazy hunters when it comes to using other hunters on UA-cam to scout out good areas.

    Great film as always. Just curious as I see your video say it’s September 1-3 in the beginning but the video shows you in the woods with some sort of rifle or muzzleloader. Never heard of any type of fire arm season in early September in Wyoming. Was that just a video mix up or you actually had some sort of tag with a firearm season in early September for elk?

    • @jasonmatzingerofficial
      @jasonmatzingerofficial  2 роки тому

      I was hunting with a rifle in September during a general tag.

      Thanks for the reply Jason! Guess I got some more researching to do for a tag like that. I know of a few rifle tags that start in later September for rifle but hadn’t seen one for earlier September before.

    Awesome video but how did you get two Wyoming elk tags in 2 years!?
    The smoke has been brutal the last two years.

      There was a year in between my tags. It has been really smokey. Hopefully we get some good moisture this year!

    🤠 Montana Mountain Man - High Country??? 🤭 You were hunting in the flatlands of Montana, tender footer! 😂 High Country doesn't start until you get at least over 10,000+ feet in elevation! 🤥 But, judging by your physical fitness level, I don't think you would be able to do so! ☹

      He was in Wyoming (which he stated) first off key stroker and Jason's a bad mofo and puts out some awesome content. You don't like it then push on. You know what most elevations are in Montana? Below 10k!!! A lot of big stuff dies below 10k and who said into the high country meant above 10k? I also never realized that to qualify as a mountain man you had to be above 10,000 feet?

      🤔 His Title was "Hunting the High Country", not the Badlands ("Lowlands")! 🤭 The Title doesn't match the country he was hunting - not even close! 😏 Where I come from, those are called "Foothills", not "Mountains" son! 🌄 I live in the "Rocky Mountains", not the plains! 🗻 Flatlanders from Kansas may call them "Mountains", but not out here in the "Rocky Mountains" - that is the lowest of elevations in our entire state! 🤪 Most of My "High Country Hunting" is done between 10,000 to 12,000 feet - not 3,000 to 5,000 feet! 🙄 Hell, my home in my home town is a mile high (5,280 ft), Looking "Up" at the Mountains! 🤷‍♂️ Where he was hunting was obviously lower than that, with no "Mountains" even in sight! 🤓 So, it is a "Valid Criticism"! 🧐 If people watch that video, they will get the wrong impression of hunting in the Rockies and then come out and won't make it up the first Mountain they encounter, because they will not be prepared to physically face the challenges they will encounter and I would be doing them a "disservice" not pointing that "FACT" out! 🤫

    • @ronlowney4700
      @ronlowney4700 2 роки тому

      🤔 If you look at my Home Town (Butte Montana) on a map - I can look out my window to the south and see several mountains (Red Mount and Table Mountain) being above 10,000 feet! Immediately to my west (right at the base of Anaconda, 30 miles away is Mount Hagen (10,700 ft) and to the Southwest is Mount Tweety (at over 11,000 ft)! These aren't as big as the mountains that I hunt - Just What I Can See from My Living Room Window! 🤷‍♂️ Maybey the videos that you've been relying on for your "understanding" aren't giving you "adequate information"? As for me, I live at the base of the Rocky Mountains, so I know! Hell, the place where I live isn't even close to the highest town in Montana! Cook City Montana is at an elevation of 7,580 feet ("in the valley") and it is still looking up at the Mountain peaks! Yep! 😯 That is the part of the "Rocky Mountains", nearer to where I like to hunt - look it up!

    • @ronlowney4700
      @ronlowney4700 2 роки тому

      🤷‍♂️ Once you do, tell me if the country that he is hunting in this video looks anything close to that? 🤔 Absolutely Not! 🙄

    • @ronlowney4700
      @ronlowney4700 2 роки тому

      😂 Google the Absorka Beartooth Mountains Map (down where I like to hunt) and see how many Peaks are between 10,000 and 12,000+ feet and then tell me if it matches what you saw in the hunting video? 🤔 Not Even Close! 🙄
