    • @jasonmatzingerofficial
      @jasonmatzingerofficial  5 років тому +2

      Aaron Thurber I didn’t have my rifle positioned correctly on my shoulder. I felt comfortable when I shot but looking back at the GoPro footage I could see that the butt of the rifle was more in my armpit. First time I ever got scoped too... Haha. Live and learn I guess.

    • @aaronthurber1364
      @aaronthurber1364 5 років тому +6

      @@jasonmatzingerofficial Yes, I noticed that it looked like the rifle came far back in recoil and got you with the scope. So with the gun not in your shoulder, you must have had enough parallax to cause you to shoot over the bear. That's a tough one to miss! Love your videos, love the musical scores, love the comraderie with friends, love that you get out and actually hunt, love that you show the misses and not getting every game animal every time. Keep up the good work! When you do get a critter, I would like it if you would give a very brief rundown of the gun/bullet/terminal results so we could learn from that also.

      dave h hunting animals plays a key role in wildlife and habitat management all across the world. People don’t think of bears and cats as manageable species but they need us to look after them just like the deer and the elk. Bear meat is also delicious, I don’t think many people are aware that hunters eat the bears the same as a fish, lobster, deer, sheep, cow, etc. To hunt bears is being an active steward of the land. To hunt grizzly, an animal I know can hunt me just as effectively, seems to level the playing field. I appreciate you asking these questions!

    • @mora118
      @mora118 5 років тому +3

      A lot of hunters are usually after the head and pelt. However there is more to it. The memories you make on a hunt can be incredibly special. There is something about hunting that big game or dangerous game that just.. Is really amazing. Its hard to describe but honestly check out Whitebone Creations on here. He does a great job of showcasing what it means to get to go on these hunts.

    my opinion you missed that shot because of the anticipation of the 338 recoil--- i would have used a 7mm or 30-06---two hundred yards -for sure it was the recoil--learn and live--all good

    • @jasonmatzingerofficial
      @jasonmatzingerofficial  5 років тому

      Thats a great theory! What actually happened was related to not getting comfortably set before taking the shot. Although I was solid and right on him I wasn't in a great shooting position. After reviewing the footage I could see the butt of the stalk was not properly located on my shoulder. It was more in my armpit which caused the rifle the recoil up way more than it should have. Your totally correct when you say live and learn!

    You state that you saw a pup and yet you still killed the adult? You say you ‘put it together’ when you only floated around a bend and saw it? Utterly crass, utterly sad to take a life of an apex predator that has young, utterly psychologically damning that you feel the desire to do this. Protect lives - don’t take them for your own vanity or misplaced attempt to be ‘a man.’ I think you need to ask yourself some serious questions. Hunt for food - not a hard on.

    • @jasonmatzingerofficial
      @jasonmatzingerofficial  5 років тому +3

      The wolf didn't have young, the pup was 50 miles up river. I would never take an animal with young.
      I am a conservationist through and through and that would be against everything conservation is about. However, to deny the predators need contolled as well is just being shallow minded and uneducated in my opinion. Why don't you ask the natives to those areas how they feel about predator control? I would maybe start asking yourself some questions as well. Thank you for your opinion and for watching!

    I hunt, fish, live outside. I take my ethics seriously, because in the end it is all we have to justify our pursuits. I had been enjoying your videos. Good hunts for the most part, good camera work and production, and good sentiment. Then you posted a show about shooting (not hunting) whitetails over bait in Canada. Now you're shooting wolves out of a jet boat in AK. You are not a fair chase hunter. You are just another internet self-promoter. You are everything that is wrong with American hunting.

    • @jasonmatzingerofficial
      @jasonmatzingerofficial  3 роки тому +1

      Haha. If you don't think bowhunting whitetails in December in Northern Saskatchewan is a hunt then we can't be friends. It is a grind to sit all day in sub zero temps even with the best gear. Of course you're entitled to your opinion but there is nothing unsporting about shooting a wolf from a boat in AK. The motor just cannot be running when you do. I have always been a fair chase hunter and am proud of it. Sorry your definition does'nt align with Goverment Regulations or Boone & Crocketts defintion of "Fair Chase".

    Unsubscribing...I don’t cotton to using a motorized vehicle to shoot from, it’s not fair chase and doesn’t make a good, still rest to shoot from. Look how the boat is still swinging left to right when you shoot! Then, what’s the logic of going into the biggest chunk of backcountry around to kill a wolf? Not for the meat, not for control of problem animals preying on livestock...sorry, I don’t buy your hunting ethic.
