Highly recommend the Jinhao 100 Centennial! I purchased this dupe on Amazon as well when I learned of the Laban Rosa Lilac. Fell head over heels in love with the design. I purchased my Jinhao in medium and I can say it writes exactly like your Laban. I enjoy jucier medium nibs and this one is great. It also has the slight bulb on the end of the nib, which I like with medium nibs. Overall Im so glad I found this dupe. Since then, Ive purchased a few other designs that mimic Laban and Pilot ..all of them are Jinhao 100s. So glad I found this comparison; makes me feel even better that Im not 'missing out' with the Laban
I love this colour they both gorgeous but for my budget I'd get the jinhao plus I already havea few of them and there so nice to write with a good cheaper option .nice review and thank you
I bought the Jinhao in the Lilac as I’ve been wanting the Laban but couldn’t justify the price right now. So I bought it to enjoy until I could get the Laban. But I’m really enjoying the pen so I’m thinking I can put that money into a different pen. The great thing about the Jinhao version is that you can swap the nib out with another #6 nib. I’m going to either put in a Goulet (Jowo) nib or the Kaigelu Long Knife nib. I got it in a medium and it writes just fine but like that I have the option. Thank you for the review! I’m glad I didn’t hold out for the Laban since it was really only for the beautiful resin.
You made a smart decision!!! I am very much in love with the Laban as it does write buttery smooth but I have my eye on another Jinhao in a different color way in place of a much more expensive pen to satisfy the look of the more expensive pen
I have not done any work on nibs so it makes me nervous. I think I need to purchase some less expensive pens to trial out brass sheets and exchanging nibs to build up that experience
I bought the Jinhao with a fine nib and the same model in the pink marble in a medum nib and they both write like butter with Robert Oster ink and fountain pen friendly paper, at a fraction of the price of the Laban. I have orderd the Laban, but can't test it yet against the Jinhaos. I can't imagine though that the Laban is any better than the Jinhao I have. Perhaps I was just lucky with the nibs.
I’d be interested in hearing what differences, if any, you notice in the nibs. Now that I’ve had a bit with both brands/pens I might revisit a comparison video
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 unfortunately I had the Laban sent to a relative in the UK, and will only be able to test it when I next travel there and am able to pick it up. That was also the reason I purchased the Jinhao, to keep me amused until I am able to hold the Laban in hands. I am very happy with the way the Jinhaos write. I will update here once I have the Laban, but as I said it may take longer. I would be very interested in an update on your experience after a couple of months use of both pens.
@@thejoyinpensandpaper890 I have managed to inspect and test a Laban Rosa with a fine nib compared to my Jinhao centennial 100, and noticed the following. The Laban's nib felt a lot bouncier than the Jinhao's nib. With the right ink both write lovely though. My Laban's (I have 3 - two Rosa (one of which is still in the UK, and one 325) both have an issue with the cap threading though. If I don't line the cap up with the body sufficiently the threads tend to catch, and I have to unwind and restart again. This has never happened with the Jinhao, no matter how I put the cap on before I turn it back on. The other thing that I noticed is that the Jinhao has an o-ring where the body screws onto the nib section, to prevent damage from possible overtightening. The Laban does not have the o-ring. So in those two aspects the Jinhao seems to be better manufactured than the much more expensive Laban Rosa.
I just bought the Jinhao because of the beautiful body and it arrived today but I am at work. Thank you for comparing. I knew the quality would not be the same but couldn’t afford the Labon at the moment. 😊 I’ve have other Jinhao pens and the nibs need to be worked in order to write nice. Unless you have a super wet ink, then it’s okay.
Yes! I saw another review of a Jinhao pen with a medium nib and I think it’s much more similar to a Laban extra fine. I am thinking of purchasing one to review in April
I have that Jinhao pen and LOVE it. It is one of my favorites, writes well and has held up.
Good to know! I might buy the same one with a medium nib to get the same wet writing experience
I've been wanting this jinhao for awhile now and this is my sign to finally get it
Let me know how you like it!

I was just checking out the centennial! I’m trying to limit myself to one pen a month so I might snag this in May

I also like the band on the jinhao compared to the laban silver one .
Most welcome! Jinhao is exceptional quality

If I turned the sound down I would have thought you were comparing two models from a single manufacturer.
They are SO similar!
I had to loosen my EF nib on the jinhao 100 and now it writes sooooo juicy beautiful love love love it
