been really digging the 12 o’clock piggy back red dot on top of 1-6 razor on a 1.5” mount. I really just leave the razor on 6x and it’s down low for prone and precision shooting. The red dot on top is the perfect height for heads up, fast and close in work. It’s also great for passive aiming under nods and is ambidextrous... I run both my personal rifle, and work rifle the same way. Only difference is my work gun has the ATACR 1-8.
I’ve been using the 1.70 lpvo scope mounts from badger ordnance. It’s essentially a lower1/3 height. I use the same for red dots so everything is consistent across the board, and you don’t get as much next strain when shooting prone on a 1.93 and up.
i'm looking to get this same mount but black is all sold out, plenty of tan options out there in 1.7 but no black
@Emmanuel Goldstein trying to use use nods behind an LPVO is a clusferfuck IMO, typically I’m gonna use either an offset red dot, or one mounted above the LPVO. eye relief for LPVOs range between 3.5-4.5”, NODS hang out at least that far. I’ve got a set of 31s, some of the lightest/shortest on the market and still, I’d have to be so exact getting on target it’d be nearly impossible to train around that deficit to get fast enough to be effective.
Kinda what I’ve been thinking lpvo lower and rds on top . Kinda the best of both worlds for dmr style setup.

This makes a lot of sense and I've not seen anyone break this down into the logical use case scenarios like this before. For my HD guns I'll also take out to the range and plink with like my CZ Scorpion, 10.3" BA Hansen 300blk AR Pistol and 5.56 1.93-2" seems the best, but for a 308 or 6.5 Creedmoor, you want the height over bore as close as possible

Great video! I think you've helped me solve my LVPO height question!
I will be using a Steiner P4Xi, 1x4x24 on an Armalite M15 tactical (chambered in 5.56/.223), with an anticipated 25-foot to 200-yard engagement range and with an occasional 300-yard distance shot.
With that setup, I'm opting for a 1.93 in. height, which will allow for heads-up shooting from a standing position and also from awkward positions as well (e.g., kneeling, crouching, lying, etc.).
To solve the cheek-rest issue, I plan to replace the Magpul STR stock (which I like because it's well-made) with a LUTH-AR Adjustable Carbine Stock (either an MBA-3 or MBA-4). The MBA-3/4 is designed for carbines, appears to be well-made, is easy to install, and offers several adjustments, one of which is a cheek riser. So whenever I bring the AR up to point of aim, my cheek should rest more or less comfortably on the stock.
The only downside to the MBA is it adds some wight, at 18.5 ounces.
i prefer even red dot at a more precise cheek well position, thanks for the video, will defiantly go with a lower mount.
Here's another one for you. My eye lashes don't curl up and instead go down. Hence in a standard mount like 1.5 I've found that my eyelashes interfere with my visuals through the optic. I think moving to a 1.7 or 1.9 would help me better visualize through the optic to keep my head more upwards.
my eyebrows obstruct my sight picture on a 1.5. moved to 1.93 to fix it

Definitely a pro high mount guy when it comes to RDS, but I've learned like you mentioned here that eye box is everything with LPVOs.
Maintain the cheek weld to maintain the eyebox, and stop chasing the reticle to maintain your index. Just keep your cheek in place and you can spin in circles without losing the eyebox.
You can also still maintain a heads up position for a tiny bit of "recoil penalty"
Just add a piggyback rds and you've got the best of both worlds. High placed rds for 1x and good cheek weld for the longer range stuff.
I’m curious about what techniques one could use to compensate for issues shooting out to 300 yds+ on a 1.93 mount in prone. Issues like parallax and inconsistent chin weld.

What LPVO mount height(s) are you limited to if you’re also running PEQ15 @ the 12oclock?
I already have a 1.53 Geissele mount. Am I forced to side mount the PEQ?
It does obscure the bottom part of the optic on 1x but any higher magnification and you don't see it as much.
Great video. I was considering buying the same Geissele mount (1.54" height) for my Razor 1-10, but was concerned about FOV obstruction if I put on PEQ15 or a similar laser / illuminator device at the end of the rail on a 18.6" build. Do you think the 1.54" height would be adequate in height? Or would the 1.7" probably be the better height for this setup?
If you plan to use the 1x on it I would go 1.7 height. If you plan to use it like more of a scope. The peq leaves the fov at 1.5x so it's not a big deal.
Just curious... why the higher mount on a rifle with a longer barrel and brake? Wouldn’t it make more sense to swap them? The first build seems like a more cqb type but I could be wrong. Id love to hear your philosophy.

What types of mounts do you have? (Referring to the red dot on top of your lpvo and the 45 degree dot mount)
Do you run back up iron sights on any of your guns with lpvo's? I'm seeing about a 50/50 from everyone I talk to. If I were to get back up irons, do you recommend a 45 degree offset or traditional style? I guess then I'd have to use a QD style mount for the lpvo.
I don't. I use an offset red dot instead of irons. Personally I find that to be a better investment and something I'll use vs irons.
@@KineticConsulting what if you're on a budget kind of like I am? An offset red dot isn't really an option right now for me. Just wondering if the cost of offset irons is even worth it. Am I just over thinking all of this or are iron sights with an lpvo even necessary?
@@floridaman9026 if you're on a budget, don't waste that on irons. I say vote them off the island and just rock on. Expecially if this is just a blaster you will be taking care of and isn't for duty.

They are the now bro. I don’t believe red dots will ever be obsolete of course, but I tend to believe LVPO will take the place of just about all fixed magnification optics.

@@CertifiedBullpupHater Yeah I have a dot and felt fine until I saw Chris Costa say, "We may see the body, but we probably won't. We'll probably only get glances of the head". Yeah try hitting a bad guy in the head within a second or so, at even only 100yds, with a red dot. LPVOs look better suited.
Would you recommend putting an offset dot on a riser plate so you can still be naturally heads up and keeping a lower mount for a vortex 1-10 on a professional/duty rifle?
You can see how I prefer my offsets in the video I made a couple weeks ago.
What mount do you have to mount the pistol red dot above your LPVO?

I use 2 different ones. A geissele and reptillia combo and I also use spuhr

Depends on a lot of different things.
I'm a weird dude who only owns a 9in 300blk upper. I'm actually interested in getting an LPVO for it. Am I crazy? I just want to see what my supers can do and be able to switch back and forth between them and subsonics and still be accurate enough to hit a head sized target.
Not crazy at all. Seeing better at distance is a thing.

Here is what I am running into… my kit is a little on the thinker side with level 4 plates, mags and pouches up front. In the flat prone I feel have to really work and crank my neck over to get sight picture. Would raising the height over bore help? I have a 1.50” Aero mount, and feel like a 1.91” or 2.05” would benefit this 14.5” 400-450 yard gun that stays on 1X 75% of the time. Thanks
Buy a cheap picatinny section, to use as a spacer, to raise your mount to see if you like the height.
I just bought gen 3.. what brand mount do you suggest? I do not want a cheap mount.. i seen badger con 1, giesselle and unity.. would u say the 1.7 height is universal
1.7 is 1/3 on a red dot if you're familiar or have experience with that.
@@Logaweed this is my 1st scope on an ar15 still learning all the terms for ar platform..
1.7 inch height is a very good compromise. Low enough to achieve good consistent positioning while still being tall enough to allow for a faster "heads up" style.
Would a 1.70 mount be a good in between 1.53 & 1.93 or is it still kind of tall
Although it's not an LPVO, I have a prism sight on my 11.5 using a 1.7 mount and I find it is a good balance of both worlds. It doesn't cause me to have to duck my head too much while still allowing a solid cheek weld BUT, as he mentions, I'm not using that setup to shoot anything at distance.
i feel like 1.70 is sweet spot. The badger Ordnance condition 1 is perfect height for me.
Depends on you and your preference. I don't mind it but prefer the 1.5 for longer stuff.
I also find it a nice general height for a 3-gun type rifle with LPVO. I use a Wilson Combat Accu-Riser, which s puts it right around 1.7" center height and pretty much the same as a lower-1/3 when using 1x, which is where I prefer my red dots. Prone takes a little head-balancing, but that's the least kind of shooting that the gun will likely see, and it's still plenty doable.

@@KineticConsulting 11.5 I’ve got pretty bad astigmatism. Red dots just keep getting worse for me. An etched reticle really helps.

Yes, still an issue.
That's crazy to me when you say you have a harder time getting a good sight picture with a higher mount. It's harder for me to get a good sight picture with lower mounts lol

Mpunt makers really need to make them more adaptable i.e. additional spacers, and rings that can slide within the mount's foorprint.

Yes, it's great. Put about 1000rds through mine. I have both geissele and larue and I dont think I can buy another geissele given larue price point with similar performance.
Best trigger you can buy for the price, very undervalued IMO
It rocks dude. I’m not gonna say wether or not it’s better than other high end triggers on the market as that is subjective, but it is fantastic and for the money it simply can’t be beat.
I have one and really like it. I do plan getting a ssa-e someday and compare but the larue is very good
@@andrewgutt276 Geissele is better IMO, but the larue for pure value can’t be beat. I’ve got 6 Geissele triggers and 3 larues, I don’t feel out of pocket when I shoot the larue.

Great info.. so I have a odd question/scenario for ya. I’m new to LPVO’s, running a 1-8 SFP. This will solely be used for a wheelchair 3GN competition build (never even competed before). I’m not sure what mount height I wanna run because I’m not technically “running and gunning” but I will have someone that pushes my through the course. You mentioned your 3GN rifle being a 1.93 so should I look more towards that, even though I’m sitting and will be in some awkward positions at times? I may be overthinking this but want the best advantages I can get. Thank you for your time sir 🤙🏼🧑🏻🦽
If it will be more in a seat or awkward positions like you said I'd go with a 1.5 and offset a red dot.

what distance do you zero your 1.93 LPVO vs the 1.5 LPVO....both 100 yds? Do you zero both rmr's at 5O yards, or do you zero one of them at a shorter distance like 25 or 36?
LPVOs at 100. RDS at 50 most of the time
Chin weld? First time I’ve ever heard that. Should we be shooting with a chin weld, and not resting on our cheek with LPVO’s? 👍
If the mount is higher, you can't see through it with a cheek weld. So you reference your chin.
I believe there is a manufacturer that makes a 1.72 mount out there somewhere. Soumds like a nice bridge to that gap.

@@sebastian3540 Im getting the Primary Arms SLX Nova 1- 6 for my airsoft gun (KWA EVE 9) and was wondering the same thing, what mount brand. The video tells me I'll want a higher rise like a 1.98 due to the cqb nature of airsoft. This was a great video brotherman, I do know what height now.

I don’t understand why you are not willing to add one Magpul’s light weight rigid add-on cheek stock extenders. Puts your head up where you are far more comfortable, then add the mount height to match, for a solid creek weld.

The only good mount is the ADM Delta CH 1.93. It's compatible with night vision, retains the beat zero, has titanium levers and you can mount a Holosun 509T.
Also, mind you, 1.93 is meant for night vision compatibility.
this comment is wrong. 1) 1.54 and up can be used with NV. He’s literally using a NV laser/ illuminator on his 1.54 in this video
2) ADM is an option but there are several better mounts badger ord, Geissele, aero to name a few
Red dot mounted offset with a centerline axis of +/- 1.9” and your LPVO @ around 1.5”…..problem solved.
Maybe solved for you. Not an overall solution man. Some need different solutions
