- My Sony 200-600 mm lens started acting up on my Sony A1 recently. The focus spot disappeared while out in RMNP. What to do? I asked YOU and you delivered. Thanks!

Amazing video once again
Thanks!
I’ve had my 200-600 completely lock the camera up, I had to remove the battery to restart it so I’ll have to check the firmware. But I’ve not had the same issues you had. Hopefully it stays functioning for you!
Did updating the firmware work?
7:07 You had a visitor walk past your gate! 😀 Did you see him?
Silly goose right?
@@CattailChronicles Yes! 😉😃
You did it, love your personalities.👍👍👍
Haha Thanks!
Looking promising. Hope it's fixed. Best wishes for you all.
Thanks! You helped a bunch!
@@CattailChronicles Helping each other out and sharing with other photographers is what it's all about in my book. Hope you have a great holiday weekend (or had a great holiday weekend depending on when you see this).
Glad it's working. Let us know how it goes when you field test it. Yes, firmware updates can be a double edged sword, lol. I do tend to upgrade sooner now than later as it is important. If the firmware on my camera is having problems, Nikon is only a phone call away fortunately.
Will let you know. I was about to update the camera then saw some warnings. Will wait for the next version.
I use same setup - 200-600 and a1 and I swear my image stabilization has just stopped working. When I'm trying to shoot handheld video, there appears to be no stabilization at all even though it is set for stabilization on both the lens and camera body. I have no clue? I've been mostly using the Sigma 500mm prime which is amazing and so much lighter and easier to travel with than the 200-600. Hopefully Sony makes a version 2 of this lens and makes it considerably lighter!
Since these lenses require power from the camera to work, I bet dirty contacts is the culprit. My 85mm 1.8 did this. I removed the lens, reattached it and it worked. Whatever was on a contact was removed when I attached the lens back on the camera. Since we are using electronics in photography, we have to maintain the contacts and make sure they are clean. I would think a little rubbing of alcohol with a microfiber cloth, like those used to clean lenses, will work great. We do abuse our equipment even though we treat them better than our children.
