No one needs to know this buuut this video is weirdly emotional to me. My dad passed when I was a teen and I never had a father figure during my beard stage so I never learned. Taught myself but it comes out goofy sometimes. This gave me more confidence in doing my moustache so thank you!
I’m glad this was helpful for you. The older I get, the more often I get emotional over things. Embrace it. Cheers.
Man it’s all good, sometimes you just need to let it out. My dad passed away 4 years ago when I was 19-20 before my mustache really came in and got thick enough to know how to cut it, so I didn’t have anyone to teach me either, I taught my self and wish my dad was still here to learn from him. Sorry for your loss brother.
Same here. Learned myself too.
This is honestly one of the best mustache trimming videos I have seen, and I’m not even exaggerating! Very helpful
Oh wow. Thank you so much for the kind words.
Completely agree. I have messed up so many times and this is the first video that worked for me
@@cknight4281 thank you for the kind words. I’m very glad that this video has been helpful for so many guys out there.
for real, I've always had the thick stache and could never figure our how people managed it.(turns out most just don't grow mustaches like that, who knew)
I'm 47 years old and literally have waited this long to grow a mustache. I feel like a teenage boy trying to figure out hygiene....
Thank you for this vid.
Yes sir. Happy to help. Let me know if you have any questions.
I messed up, and Poland had to pay for my mistake
What?
LMAO
I can’t believe I never tried to use my tongue to assist in the mustache/beard blending. Great tip. Very appreciated, friend!
Yes sir. You are very welcome. You can also blow air into your cheek to puff out each side. I use that just as much as the tongue.
My dad hates facial hair, so he wasn't able to teach me anything about beard maintenance except how to shave it all off.
Currently going through UA-cam to figure out basic maintenance and learn how to keep it from looking scraggly when it gets anywhere longer than an inch. This has helped, since a lot of videos seem to either ignore the mustache when talking about the beard, or treat it as though the beard and the mustache look and act the same when mine really don't
Right on. I’m glad this video was helpful to you. I have several videos where I break down a full beard trim as well. Let me know if you have any questions.
You are the first person I’ve found that has an identical mustache to mine. Other video tutorials don’t quite exactly work for me but this one is super helpful. I feel like I’ve been only doing 70% of a proper job for the 8-9 years I’ve had one now. Mine doesn’t connect to my beard as well so I’ll have to play around with the blending aspect a bit more.
I didnt know it was The Ned Flanders i am going for. Thank you for the lesson baby boy
Happy to help.
Best video bro. Glorious mustache and beard.
Thank you so much.
I'm finding it was easier when I clean shaved every few days 😅 thanks for the video!
You are welcome. Find whatever works best for you. Don’t be afraid to change it up occasionally.
That's basically how I trim my moustache 2. Gotta keep it off the lip
Oh yeah! Not too high though?
Thank you - I needed some tips to cut my brother in law's mustach who is in memory care - he won't let the lady who cuts hair do it - going to attempt in a few days - this was very helpful!!
So glad that it helped. Let me know if you have any questions. I trim my dad’s beard and mustache often.
Thank you!!@@beardsandbanjos
Great video Bryan! I usually go against the grain but I’ll try this routine next time
Great video! Fixed my “wiry” mustache
Definitely an art to doing this. For me, it's been a lot of trial and error.
I can agree with that. It takes some experimenting. It always grows back. Too many guys are afraid to try new things.
Great video. I’ve been rocking a fuller beard but haven’t figured how how I want to do my mustache. My wife hates the long mustache and I’ve been trying to figure out how to trim it and blend it into the full beard, and this is exactly what I needed!
Thank you so much. I’m glad you found it helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.
I wish I saw this earlier today.
@@LouisPerez-k1w oh no! Sorry. I’ve gotten several comments like this. Luckily, mustaches grow pretty quickly. Good luck!
Subbed, this was so easy and it actually worked, I’ve tried trimming beards/moustaches for years but always messing it up! Thank you!
I’m so glad you found this helpful. Let me know if you ever have any questions.
@@beardsandbanjos Thank you and will do!
What timing Bryan. I was just fiddling with my stash working myself up to trimming it.
Your mustache style may not match what I was going for. I’ve made several tutorials when I had a larger mustache too.
@@beardsandbanjos My approach is going to be different but it was still helpful, thanks.
Helpful video! I needed the right technique to take some of the bulk out of my mustache, which is the only strong part of my facial hair overall. I used a 4.5mm guard to keep it tighter, my hair is jet black so it gives me a clean look without any patchiness. I appreciate it brother!
Yes sir! Happy to help.
Great video Bryan! Very good video and tutorial. Gonna start calling you Flanders when you are due for a trim. 😂😂
Thanks Shaun! I appreciate it!
Gonna watch this while I cut my own hair & clean up the beard.
Have fun!
Hey man just wanted to say thanks for posting this video! I’ve watched a few and this one helped me out the most. I feel like my mustache is like yours more than anyone else’s video I’ve watched and I just did your method and worked out perfect. I’m about to turn 31 and I’ve grown my mustache out a few times but always end up just clean shaved and giving up. Now I’m trying to dedicate and let my beard grow out and I’m just a little over 2 months in now. Literally the longest I’ve ever went without shaving 😅. But to be honest this is the first time I’ve felt like my beard is decent enough to let it keep growing so I’m hoping to keep it growing for a good while and see what happens. Thanks again!
I'm growing my first moustache and its abit bushy. This video has explained everything and giving me confidence to go in with the trimmer.
Thanks. Great advice.
I’m so glad this video has been helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions.
@@beardsandbanjos thanks gonna trim later 👍
Thanks Bryan, this was very helpful. my stashe grows in the same way and i gotta do something similar. -Pete
if you ever play golf that would be awesome to have you on the channel
Thanks for the suggestion. I’m not a golfer. I have enough other expensive hobbies…😁
Good looking beard 👌🏼
Nicely done. My approach is very similar. I’m looking forward to learning how you deal with ear and nose hair.
Thanks. I’m hoping to get that video out next weekend.
My husband is 53 we went to same school he had to shave his privates in high-school on a bet who would think that's it really in style now!

Perfect beard & moustache 👍🏼
Brilliant video - thank you!
My pleasure. I’m glad you found it helpful.
Turned out perfect! Thanks for making this video.
I’ve been looking for a video like this. Definitely will help me when it’s time to trim my mustache.
That’s great! I know it’s a tricky thing to trim your own mustache. I hope this video will help lots of guys out.
honestly really great video ! This is the exact look I have been trying to replicate over the years. You are very right on the barbers side of things. Thanks for the great content.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I have gotten so much positive feedback from this video. In fairness to the barbers, most assume that you will do no trimming before returning in 4-5 weeks. I think that's why many of them trim shorter than one would at home who plans on doing maintenance trims every week or two.
The detailed video I had been looking for such a long time...
One question I have is on how to trim the bulk right below the nose...i feel like i have a small hitlers mustache hidden that i can never trim properly.
Great video great commentary and great play by play visuals
Thank you so much. I hope that it helps some guys out.
Stopping by to show love to you Bryan awesome video
Thank you very much. I really appreciate the support!
Nice explanation…
Great video, very helpful. Thanks Bryan.

Awesome video B&B! 💯
Thank you very much!
Great narration. Thanks.
Yes sir. I hope that you find it helpful.
Thanks. Very useful !
Happy to help.
You compiled and edited this video nicely. Also your voice is soothing. Question: My mustache grows outward more than it does down. How do I combat this? My beard balm doesn't help too much. Do I just need stronger product?
Thanks for the kind words. You may need to let your mustache grow out longer so that it has enough weight to train. Feel free to reach out to me on Instagram and send me some pictures so I can give you more specific help. I had a lot of success using the mudstache wax from Bossman. It works much better than wax for training - amzn.to/4agUtwz

5 star tutorial
Thank you so much for the kind words. Please let me know if you have any questions.
I've been using a clipper for years and I've been doing using it wrong!! Thank you for your video, I noticed if you use the clipper in the opposite direction you get a lot of patchy areas.
You are very welcome. Going against the grain will definitely be shorter and can show patchy areas more. Let me know if you ever have any questions.
@@beardsandbanjos do you have any recommendations of how to trim down thick eyebrows in a similar manner i.e no patchy areas?

3:24 I know for a fact that if I tried doing that I'd slip and there goes half my mustache!
You definitely need steady hands. Go in with confidence.
Remember shaving clean except my mustache 1 time ever and Flanders is exactly what I said about it….
Oh yeah! The perfect paintbrush mustache!
@@beardsandbanjos if it were only 1971
@@brianbailey1681 right on! A solo mustache does seem more mainstream now than anytime since the 1970's though.
should we go a bit more on mustache than the rest of the beard? I go on both beard and mustache with 0.5 and my mustache remains bulky I would say ... thanks
You definitely can.
Cheers! Helpful. What brand of glasses you wear? Very clean and classic look.
Thanks. I believe the glasses are Columbia.
Any reason to not just pluck the hairs right below your nose? Seems like everyone cuts them with the tiny scissors.
That’s just personal preference. I tend to keep my mustache pretty large and change it to a handlebar every once in a while. Trimming those hairs would start to thin it out a bit and give it a more manicured look. Definitely nothing wrong with that.
The length on mustaches seems really much longer than 6 mm
My stache is pretty thick and i fell like i have a lot of unever hairs kinds wana try that with a 6mm
Shaved head would look cool on you
I’ve definitely considered that. Right now I’m trying out some hair restoration products. If that doesn’t work, I’ll probably go for it. Thanks!
@@beardsandbanjos I've a full beard shaped pretty much like yours with a few more white bits mind....I shave my head because a beard takes just as much grooming
Where do you get a 1 or 2 guide that DOESN'T have 2 inch long forks!?! I cannot get anything close because of the LENGTH of those tongs, forks, fingers, guides....whatever you want to call them.
Where and what is it?
@@Yeetin_Boomer_Actual great question. You need a Brio Beardscape. Check out this video Don't Ruin Your Beard! - How to Trim Your Beard with Trimmers

how can i grow it thicker and more full. i cant hardly grow a stache 😩
There are definitely some genetics involved. Mustaches get better with age too. You might just need to give it some time.
First time here , I can image your old image , this is much better , I think you have room to play on the beard growth if you chose to get a bit more density and length on it , provided your wife says that's okay , I wouldn't go Amish or anything , as far as the mustache , this is definitely without question much nicer , its very clean , sharp and organized , it adds a very classy and gentleman like feature to your face .
I currently have quite a bit more length than you on the beard , not sure where my finished result will be after I trim it finally , I've been in a long growth period to promote density and support for fullness when I do decide to make my first real cut on it .
I need work on my mustache which will grow over time with the beard , I like the look you have on yours , it's full , but not messy or bush like in any way , it's sharp , you trim it down and thin it out yet it covers a lot of canvas I suppose I mean . Mine has sort of a notch effect in the very middle under my nose naturally and I'm not sure if time will create more hair growth there to fill it in since I do see growth , but it's slow .
Where my cheek hair meets my mustache handle bar section , not that I have an actual handlebar mustache , I simple mean the sides below my lip , there is a slight gap of skin which does not connect directly full on , maybe that will change over time .
Thanks for the tips , I'll need to get a good clipper set one day like you got , I use the cheap Wahl systems from Marshall's or winners for 20-30 dollar range at the moment .
Well , thanks for sharing , looking good friend
My wife doesn’t like it when I trim mine. She says it pokes her when we kiss like it’s kind of sharp. Not sure what to do. Right now it’s long and constantly gets food/drink on it and that annoys me. Any thought?
Do you use mustache wax? Heat can also help lock in a style that sweeps it out of your way. You may be in an awkward phase in between short and long enough to style it out of the way. Feel free to reach out to me on instagram and send me some pictures. I have made several videos when my mustache was longer that might help too.
That trimmer dont pinch your Lip?
Great Question! This trimmer doesn't bite me. I am really careful, but I try to use trimmers that have a little gap between the end of the trimmer head and the moving blades. Some basically have no gap and they will bite your skin. Here's the very best small timmer I've used - amzn.to/49oQu1q
Anyone wanting know a good beard trimmer.
Get a decent set of hair clippers.
Trust me.
I've never seen someone go side-to-side on their mustache...
@@frazierwoods9912 it helps get the longer hairs at the top if that’s what you’re going for.

I understand it, lol...I was just completely shocked to see it.
Hi ya, I trimmed my moustache two days ago and it hurts so much to touch. It's so prickly. I trimmed it with a scissors. Any quick fix to soften it? I tried vaseline , baby oil, and hair conditioner. Still hurts so much lol. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

Dude are dyeing you beard?
I’ve experimented with a few to make some content here on the channel, but I don’t usually dye my beard.
if you growing a mustache dont listen to this guy
Exactly! You don't want to trim it like this if you are growing out your mustache. I do have videos if you are going for the bigger handlebar style.
Hi, what do you recommend for a patchy beard etc I seen stuff about minoxidil and rollers but i dont know about it. Thanks side note, I’ve been growing from nothing/stubble sense 1/14/24
Leaving it at the lip line, like yourself, to me, looks messy and like you did nothing to it. I think it gives a cleaner look with the line more visible above the lip.. just the width of the t-liner right above the lip is just right. to me)
Everyone has to figure out what works for them. I don't like the look of bare skin between the lip line and mustache on me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
