A couple of years ago people thought "Baku is the most boring track of the year, just 90 degree corners, straights". It's proven itself to be one of the most entertaining GPs this year and last year
Yeah, the first race wasn't that exciting, then things went up a gear in the last two years, now it's becoming a must-watch race.

haha red bull was stupid here for not giving any orders, you could see both drivers were feverishly fighting agains each other and under a lot of pressure and desire to defeat each other. They really needed them to calm down.

I guess that's what happens when you combine a street circuit with a good overtaking circuit. There's no room for error on street circuits but there's minimal passing in Singapore and none in Monaco so Baku has that added element of risk so it's just pure chaos.

Alonso was the real driver of the day. 2 wheels drive back into the pits and still finishing 7th despite having a damaged car was a MEGA drive
Bottas --> excellent race with supremely bad luck
I agree that Bottas race was good, but he did not have to fight for any positions during the race. He took the lead during the safety car. However, Alonso firstly had to drag a totally broken car back into the pits, damage his entire floor and sensors and still manage to finish 7th. That's why he deserved the driver of the day. Many teams would have retired after the incident but not Alosno. He continued like a warrior.
Thanks to the safety car Alonso didn't finish two laps behind Hamilton!

The Azerbaijan GP is already much better than the Monaco Grand Prix. We can say that Formula 1 has managed to bring a street GP that brings great emotions and that makes us have history to tell on Monday.
Monaco won't go away because it's one of the legendary tracks from a heritage point of view, plus over half of the drivers actually LIVE there. Finally, Monaco is almost like an annual informal summit for the rich and famous, who sponsor all the teams.
Monaco is historic, but for F1 cars of today it's really not that good. Impossible to overtake other than Saint Devote and chicane, if not you end up like Button and Wehrlein lol

Frank dms Monaco was never suited for any F1 cars in the first place. Heck it doesn't even suit any of the best European supercars let alone the the Rally cars. It only exists for that province to make money every year and generates the most money of any the of F1 tracks on the Calender. The other reason is it kept is because winning there is truly special for any Driver. Senna did it 7 times. The track was never designed for such speeds especially when nothing has changed since inception in the 1930's.

This is so much better than Monaco
Tbf i even think this is even harder track than Monaco for drivers. In Monaco you can pretty much give your car high downforce settings because its pretty much only corners, but in Baku there is also that 2.2km long straight so if you put your car too much downforce you gonna lose a lot of time on that final sector. So teams has to adjust the car to be both good in corners and fast on that final sector, what makes drivers job a lot harder. Also that turn 8 is pretty mad looking because you cannot mishandle it even slightly or you end up in a wall, probably one of the hardest corners in F1 atm.

1) max was 20 at the time so is it that much of an achievement?
2) danny has shown he’s incapable of adapting to a car that doesn’t suit his style.

Vasco Barbosa the track is so damn long it is difficult to clean it completely. However, there's this thing I cannot fully understand, why was there debris in the main straight when there wasn't an incident? Alonso's car debris? But that was early in the race so...I still don't understand. Sad for Bottas, he deserved that win.

It was debris from collision between Magnussen and Gasly at the restart a lap ago, which hasn't been shown. Bottas couldn't see it lap earlier, because there was none.
Race Control didn't allow to clean the track, observer from marshal's side informed them twice before SC went to pits, so...

It was pretty good, but gave Vettel a chance. By comparison Vettel reducing the length of the straight was far more advantageous after the first safety car. Check out the F2 feature race for some safety car restart shenanigans.

Without any doubt. That mindblowing acceleration of the mercedes by Bottas in that move is what comes to my mind first when i think of this race even there was a lot of other actions on the track

Killermickey the reason why Kvyat was replaced so quickly was because Verstappen was looking extremely quick in Toro Rosso and they were just looking for any reason whatsoever to get Max into RB. There isn’t really anyone at TR as quick as Max

Based on what? Having a good year? Kvyat had a good year too in 2015 when he outscored Ricciardo. And then he had a bad year, 2016. And got swapped for Verstappen after 1 really bad race.
What is Verstappen much more capable at? Crashing into other people? Yeah, he's demonstrated that really well in 2017 with him crashing into 5 people within 1 season (Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Massa, Vettel and Hamilton, some of them multiple times). Great result. But he's definitely going to surpass that this year given that he's up to 3 already and it's only been 4 races.

I remember in 2016 when people said ' No Baku was going to be another boring street circuit just like the old European gp.' But it seems that people are wrong. One thing is for sure: a super long straight + first corner that is hard to get it right = good overtakes + drama.
