      Great vid! From what film did you get the clip of the Japanese cavalry attack on German rearguard camp?

      @@TrulyToasty Haha a bit of me mashing to things together to make it look like Germans facing Japanese. Its the movie "War Horse" for the German side and a Japanese mini series called "Saka no Ue no Kumo" which depicted the Russo Japanese war

      Used to live in Qingdao, beautiful city. Most of the german buildings are located in badaguan area. Now full of craft coffee shops and restaurants. Used to go there for a walk with my wife, it was our favourite part of the city

    What an amazing overview, thanks for making this video!
    My g-Grandpa was a mechanic on Kaiserin Elisabeth so this is really improving my understanding of my family history ;)

    The Imperial Japanese Army had been created with assistance from German advisors, so when WW1 broke out, it campaigned against Germany with much less enthusiasm that the Navy, which had been trained by the British.

    Great video! I used to live in Qingdao, so this was really interesting to me. I've actually been to the old German quarter there once.
    One thing though, the city's name isn't really pronounced like "Tsingtao." It actually sounds a lot closer to "Chingdao."

      @ThePacificWarChannel  3 роки тому +2

      Yes I know, I remain incapable of ever pronouncing anything right T.T. In the following podcast for this episode I mention how I miss said Qingdao often haha. I would like to see the old city myself some day looks awesome!

    The premier for this video was just recommended to me, and I am so glad that it was, because I love your channel! Your high level of research really shows, and I learnt a lot about an incident which I thought that I was familiar with before.

    Aww I love your birds already, african grey knows to look at the camera even ha. Informative video though with visuals that match the pace of what you're saying at any given time throughout. No real critiques, well done.

    Love what you have been doing and will always give you a like. This said, can you please work on your pronunciation? Your German, Chinese and Japanese are all off most of the time. Please please.

    Probably an extremely random question, but what's the name of the Chinese flavored music you use as a background in the Pacific War videos? I like it a lot, and would like to listen to it more.

    It's a shame that the Asian and Pacific fronts of the Great War aren't as well remembered as the Western or Eastern fronts in Europe. The First World War, much like the second, was a truly global war spanning most of the world's continents

      Both are coming up after the WW1 episodes, and the next episode coming out is China during WW1 (covers May 4th a bit as well)

    Qingdao was actually returned to China by Japan in the 1920s. I don’t know why. Was it international pressure or something?

    • @ThePacificWarChannel
      @ThePacificWarChannel  2 роки тому +1

      Separate agreement between China/Japan was signed in 1918 to gradually hand it back. But yeah there was a ton of pressure to do so.

    The first of your videos I hated. A nice story about brave Germans and the hero pilots carreer. What about the Japanese? 1st attack by carrier based aircraft on naval vessels, land installations. 1st carrier to be in a battle group juring an action. Who were these groundbreaking pilots and their incredible daring? And being on the winning side they are defacto heros far beyond the ground based german alternative? Otherwise, keep up the good work and thanks for tying!
