    why does almost every "how to make lofi" tutorial start with insulting the genre and everyone who listens to it

    • @haruchxn
      @haruchxn 4 роки тому +86

      cuz lofi is simple and people don't try hard to do actual good lofi, like trap "beats"; only because it have a simple melody, hi-hats, banger kicks and 808 bass they call it a tRaP bEat.

    • @Maniclout
      @Maniclout 4 роки тому +51

      For the same reason people insult vaporwave. Lots of people just take an old piano sample and put some drums under it and call it lofi. Don't forget the fact that lofi had a reputation of consisting of detuned pianos and very weird snares before it became mainstream.

    • @daveguyouthere2080
      @daveguyouthere2080 4 роки тому +5

      Harukana but dude trap is always that simple, i totally get what u saying but trap music is usually in a formula (im only talkin about the hiphop trap, not the dance one or etc)

    • @daveguyouthere2080
      @daveguyouthere2080 4 роки тому +27

      Maniclout thats true, for me the real lo fi music is vintage filtering , boom bap drums with unusual samples and a jazz piano , doesnt matter if its slow or not , these days people think lofi is just sad slow piano melody with shitty drums

    For anyone trying to got deeper into harmony: The II-Chord in the minor scale is actually a diminished chord, with a diminished Fifth (6 half steps) instead of a pure fifth (7 half steps). The 7th chord for that is a half-diminished seventh chord (and there is another "full diminished" chord, with a diminished 7th on top). This is quite a dissonant interval, which is why it makes sense to kick it out and use a II-7(omit5) or a II-9(omit5), like he did here.

    As a guy trying to learn software and rolls his eyes anytime the person making the tutorial has 0 music theory knowledge.. This was very satisfying to watch those guys almost get mocked but yet you still get taught a ton about everything this man is doing. If you don't know theory then this is good for you. If you do then you can still learn how the program works and how Lofi is built. I don't know why this works but it does. I learned about the software, I didn't need the theory lesson but its great for those that do.

    08:09 note how the 3rd and the root of the chords are now further apart and doesn't clash with the root as much
    that's also part of the effect you can hear, not just the "boominess" of the lower root
    If a chord sounds muddy, do this or put the 3rd an octave up!

    One thing I LOVE about this channel is that you explain music theory *_correctly._* I know it's a nitpick, but it's so obvious when a UA-camr hasn't studied music theory, but makes the video anyway because they think their ears are good enough.
    It works for some, but their explanations of the "theory" always make me cringe when they make up terms instead of explaining the intervals.
