Looking at your Bevel box brought back how I repainted mine, I complained to Triumph about this saying that the powder coating has laminated and there reply was no one has complained about this issue before and if mine had a problem it was down to poor maintenance. Very funny I thought as I paid £13,000 for a machine that had paint peeling off in less than 4 year old, anyway back to repainting the bevel box. I removed all of the loose powder coating with a rotary wire brush first then gave the remainder coating that was good I rubbed over with a fine wet and dry emery paper, then gave the bare alloy metal an etched alloy primer which stabilized the surface from further corrosion. Then I spray painted 2 coats of Plastikote black base primer then rubbed this back then sprayed 2 coats of Plastikote black top coat and finally 2 coats of Plastikote satin clear lacquer. This may seam over kill but now after 3 years this is still as good as new.
That sounds like the same response I got from Warrs H-D when I asked about the infamous fuel tank swelling up that caused the covers to lift off... 'we've never heard of it mate' lol Easy excuse aye? Fact is, we all have to accept that contrary to many people's beliefs, factory isn't always the best quality, after all they are motivated by profit, so what else can we expect... i took my rocket rear wheel to a one man garage once and left it with him, when i went back to pick it up the job was done, but as i was carrying my wheel out of the garage he said, and don't bring that effing wheel back hear again,, lol
Good Lord! Even that front tyre looks bigger than the rear one fitted to my sportiest bike.( Triumph T595). Did you replace the tubeless valve stems as well? - a perished stem was the root cause of my recent self induced unpleasantness with my CBX. I’m glad you got the front done successfully. And safely. What a great idea to use gum to test fit the weights. Another thing I’ve learned. I really admire your approach to a job and your work practices.
Hi Nick, with the valve stems, Triumph use a metal angled screw in valve adaptor that points out to the side and every time I've found them on any bike, they've always been original from the factory, never had to replace one... Oh and temporary stick for the weighs is actually the white version of Blue Tac and just dirty, rather than chewing gum lol Have a good week mate.
Holy moly that back rim, almost needed a truck tyre machine 😮 Had the same hub issue with an ST1300 I'm currently doing, previous owner had brush painted what looked like Hammerite over the lot........only didn't do the bottom of the manky thing...lawd, pain of a job, oh and also 'lost' the spacing shim off of the abs sensor, only a £16 part 😢 The old girl's coming along nicely, look forward to the next installment 🖖

Those tires make the ones on the Road king I used to ride look like scooter tires ! It looked like the tire machine was even struggling with the rear tire. Probably dimmed the lights in the neighborhood briefly. 😁 I'm looking forward to the process to fix the paint on the gear case. Thanks for all the hard work Del and Penny. Blessings to you both. ❤👍👍
You said that right mate, at one point the tyre machine was spinning the rim inside the rubber, which meant we had to start again because the dot was out of line and then we had to nurse it on in stages with two of us holding it to try and get it to pop over! It was the same kind of difficulty level as the wide run flat tyres on Porches, according to the tyre fitter! Thanks for your kind support, as ever, have a wonderful week, D&Px
I install the new tires myself on my bikes. It is true that when you do it yourself you take better care of all the little problem that you encounter when the wheels are out. Remove the rust and corrosion, grease the bolts, grease the bearings seals and shafts, clean thoroughly the wheels.I also always find exciting when the tire pops into place.
I too do that mate, but not on this one! The front tyre, no problem, as I explained in the previous video, but the rear tyre has no relief groove, and I don't care who you are lol, you absolutely, will not, change a Rocket 3 rear tyre with levers, even the machine struggled! ... and most experience tyre fitters dread doing Rocket rears! But other than that, I love doing all mine for all the same reasons you do mate.
Del, I would like to point out that a correction is needed for the Description...It says "Nothing like a new pair of boots to make you feel good".... Of course im used to light bikes like 12oo bonnevilles. One question, when yvwere turning the front wheel after installation it struck me in comparison to the bearings on my bonneville and gsxr 750, at leat visually, that you were picking up a fair amount of resistance on the hand spin. Could you explain that ? Only rodea rocket 3 once, forcanty extended time, so my experience is minor , and i was concentrated most on getting that rear tire to turn onvthe twisties. Ver last, wonderful vids in different settings, whichis much appreciated. Thanks, bobg.
Sure thing Bob, the resistance on the front wheel is fine, it's just a really heavy wheel is all, in fact the whole bike is heavy!... so there's a slightly different mindset on everything you do to it, but once you get your head round that, everything translates!
If this bike final drive is similar to the ST1300, the service manual will call for a specific specification of grease to be applied to the final drive gear upon re-installation of the wheel. In my case it calls for molybdenum disulfide paste.
Well done, nice to have new tyres on the bike. I also made my tyre exchange by myself and balance them as you do. Good work, it is always nice to see your videos on your garage ! Take care of your bikes, and of course your family also :-)

If the wheels are not painted or coated in any way, then thinners or a dab of petrol wipes it straight off, otherwise if they are, I soak them in WD40 for an hour or two, usually gets it off!
Menzler's tires? Aren't they great, I get about 18,000 miles off my rear tire on my old 865 Speed master. I'm on my third pair
My word thats a lot of miles, i can't imagine these will last that long in a Rocket 3, certainly not the rear, but absolutly great grip right away for sure.
What are your thought on balacing beads?

TR3 tyre pressures 36/42psi ... or should I keep watching before typing?
Brilliant. Love seeing the tire change and the static balancing. I should say thanks because from watching one of your old videos on tire change and balancing I did my own at the beginning of the riding season.
Thanks for sharing that mate, am glad we were a use, and good on you for getting stuck in!
