Truthfully, I was a bit scared to do any pruning on my first year roses, so I left most of the tall canes to go a bit wild...lol! This year they should be more established, I'll be pruning and shaping to maintain their sizes.
Un petit jardin, mais vous avez fait une véritable toile de peinture. J'adore, tout simplement !❤ Quel est le nom de l'arbre hydrangea paniculata qui surplombe ce coin de jardin ? Il a une très jolie couleur !❤
Thank you!❤️ I am not quite sure what the name of my purple rose is. I’ve had it for over 10 years now, and back then I did not keep the tags. I’ve done some research over the years to see if I can find the variety, and it does appear to resemble one that is called “POSEIDON”.
@@health.bites.5615 I general will plant different type of plants around my roses, and this may change from season to season. I find roses look good with most flowers:)
Thank you! Watering schedule really depends on the weather. If we’re experiencing super hot weather, I will water more often. If it has been raining, I will not water til the soil gets slightly dry. Newly planted roses will get more water than established roses. I hope this helps.😊
wow - I see round circles cut in your leaves too.......what do you think is doing that??? I am definately going to plant more roses in the Spring...I garden in Zone 4 a in Canada.... I need to get creative in building some rose arbours....do you build your own?? It would be lovely to see you build one...from ground up
I believe the circles are made from some kind of bee. It does not harm my plants or effect the rose blooms so I’ve just left it alone. I am not handy at all so I have never attempted to build one.😅 Rose arbours look amazing with roses on them. Go for it!💪🏼
@@health.bites.5615 So far I have tried my best not to use any chemicals in my garden. I get Japanese Beetles but for the last 2 seasons they have been manageable. I remove them by hands. I spray water when I get aphids. These have not been too bad as well. Which pests do you deal with?
Hi there! I garden in zone 6a. I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'how close do you plant IN THE GROUND', but I'm guessing you're referring to how close I space my plants. I usually plant a lot in the small space that I have. I can not stand 'empty' spots/spaces:)
I have been applying slow release fertilizers this year for my roses. I applied it once at the beginning of the season in April, then again I think late June or early July, I can’t remember exactly.
Your roses are so beautiful but I am wondering about your phlox. Did you grow from seed and are they perennial or annual? I think the whitish with pink interior is bright eyes.
All of my phlox are perennials. They have all been purchased as small plants from my local garden centers. I have very little luck with growing flowers/plants from seed. I’m working on getting better each year.😊
If you live in zone 6a, how do your roses cope with winter? Which varieties do you recommend? I live in zone 8b and my roses, which I have over 140, sometimes cannot survive winter temperatures if they go below 20 degrees centigrade.
So far, all of the roses that are planted in the ground have done very well for me. The ones that I have been trying to overwinter in pots have not survived. This year I’ve placed my potted roses inside my unheated garage to see if they will make it through the winter.🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 I try to buy roses that have been bred for my climate, this seems to help.
@@ContainerGardeningWithAmy Thank you for replying! How stupid of me - I live in zone 6b (not 8b) which used to be 6a. The temperature has recently fallen to -20 Celsius at night. I overwinter the potted roses under my balcony, so far so good :-)
@@gardensenglishandtrivia Last winter I lost 4 roses that were planted in pots. These were all left outside:( This year, I've placed them in my garage, hoping this will be warm enough for them. Fingers crossed! Please keep me posted as to how yours do in spring. I'm still learning how to overwinter potted flowers/plants in my cold climate. Good luck with yours!
@@YRzone8a I have not had any issues with grass growing on the stone paths. When I redesigned my backyard I got rid of all of the grass. Before laying down the stones and pebbles I covered the ground with landscape fabric which I think has helped to prevent any grass from growing back.

I also have lots of earwigs, slugs, snails, aphids etc😭 For the most part if they are just eating the leaves, I tend to just let them be. Looooovvvveeeee your rose tours!! Will you be buying any grace farm or David Austin roses for next year?
I don’t think I have any more space for more roses😅 No plans at the moment to get more:)
Wow… obsessed with peach glory. Did you buy her online? I’m trying to find it, thanks
I got her at a local garden center last year.

Beautiful, could you provide the name of the peachy, pink tall rose towards the beginning of the video.
I think you might be referring to "Peach Glory". I've tried my best to include all of the rose names in the video, bottom left corner.
Very beautiful but can you provide a name for the purple one? I just purchased Quick Silver and it looks similar. Vicki
Hi Vicki, I wish I name the name of the purple rose. I bought her over 10 years ago and at the time I was not keeping track of my plants. Sorry!
Could you tell us which ones are fragrant? Next tour.
I'll try my best to provide more details in the next video

I didn’t see any roly polys on your ground. Do you use an insecticide?

As someone with a little garden (I solely use containers), your tours have given me so much inspiration. Do you have an instagram?
I’ve only started gardening in containers recently, but I absolutely love it. Great way to “expand” our growing space😁
