Bet your garden smells amazing Darren. You are so good at remembering all the names of your beautiful roses. I never tire of seeing your garden. Thank you.
your garden is just so beautiful Darren!what a dream it would be to spend a day there 🙂 could you please tell me what that blue/purple flowering tree is that is next to your japanese maple? it comes to the centre of the frame at 22:00
You have an absolutely fantastic collection of roses! My personal favourite rose variety in my garden is 'Syrie Barnardo Sweet Syrie'. If I had to pick a favourite from your garden though I'd go with the wine red one at 4:00, i cant smell it so im judging by colour alone tho.
Ahh, that would be Munstead Wood rose. It is rather special. I’ll google your fave. I’m intrigued :) Thanks for being so very kind. Love to you my friend 💚💚💚💚
Wow…your garden is very beautiful, relaxing and gives immense pleasure to watch. Darren, If I have to have a garden then it must be like yours. Roses, companion plants, hedges, trees and everything looks in complete harmony, I must say perfect English garden. Thanks for sharing.
Oh wow! Your words fill my heart with joy. I always feel a bit nervous showing my garden. I just plant what I love. Never read a gardening book. If you grow what you love, you can’t go wrong 💚😍😘🥰❤️ Thank you my lovely kind friend. Love to you xx
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share this spectacular garden tour! I even learned something about solving a problem with one of my roses when I saw how you had tied one of your plants to train it horizontally. Gardening is hard work, and sometimes I feel like giving up, but seeing your garden is tremendously inspiring.
What a beautiful garden tour. Would you please let us know what your favorite most fragrant rose is? Thank you in advance. I'm new to growing roses, but I have about 40 of them planted. It's year 2 for me.
Your garden is simply stunning, Darren. I love the profusion of colors, and yet there is an overall harmony, nothing jarring or out of place. That's not as easy to do as one might think, but it helps that you have an overwhelming number of Austin roses which are meant to mimic old roses, which fortunately have no screamingly loud tones. Well done, and thank you from southern California.
I love to see your garden grow! All of your hard work is worth it to get to see the new growth everyday and soon harvest! l’m harvesting my first fruits and veggies of the season. Everything taste so much better home grown doesn’t it? I still have so much to learn as gardener and UA-cam creator and I appreciate your tips, tricks! I would love to learn more about gardening from each other. Happy Growing!
So glad you were able to get an Othello! It’s such a lovely rose, a beautiful shade with such a great perfume to it. Idk why they decided to discontinue it, it’s been doing really well in a pot for me. (I’m growing mine as a climber, though, as it sent out some long, floppy canes early on & I just decided to let it be what it wanted to be rather than fight with it.)
Totally agree my Othello has bloomed a week ago this scent.. Oh my holy god! Ive bougt it as a bare root rose and I didnt have any idea how she smells. Now I know, its gorgeous
Massive collection of gorgeous, well-maintained roses all in the same garden! How old is your garden? I hope to nurture my garden to look a fraction as good as yours one day. Thanks for the inspiration.
You have the same style and taste as me . ❤ Ludwig bench , terracotta, stone statues , bird bath , arbour and green shade paint , I have 30 DA roses and 15 clematis, and Acers all bought last year . Thank you for sharing your heaven .
You have a LOT in just one year. Very impressive. I look forward to hearing / seeing how your garden matures. Do keep in touch and enjoy your beautiful garden. Love from me xx
Your garden is just lovely. Oh my! It was a delight to watch this video - I grow all of my roses in containers, including a David Austin rose. I would love to see more of your container-grown roses in upcoming videos. Thank you for sharing your garden....it's just beautiful.....(PB from the USA).
I really really enjoyed this garden tour thank you for sharing your beautiful garden!! I love all your roses , I’ve been eyeing on Florentina yours just made me buy it.
I recently watched a review of Boscobel and the reviewer said theirs does the first big flush, sheds every leaf, then resurrects itself for more blooms after a break. I had one potted up last year, and while mine took a little break now and then, it didn’t suffer from leaf drop at all. How does yours perform throughout the year? I’m wondering if mine is just too young, and if maybe the big show of the first flush taxes the plant too much once it’s established and much larger… Hope you’re doing well this February, Darren, my friend.
Absolutely beautiful garden so many flowers beautiful plants .. I would like to know the name of the purple/blue tree ( min 23:45 ) is a crape Myrtle beautiful
I had a sniff of munstead wood today in Watford.. i must have sniffed it good 15-20 times .. was just bowled over by the fragrance ( i’ve got 26 damask, gallica, centifolia, alba, hybrid perpetuals & fragrant moss roses coming in November) .. wonder if you could sell me a cutting of it please Darren as it’s now discontinued along with a Shropshire lad..i would be very grateful to get hold of it
Hello, can you please tell me more about your gorgeous ceanothus? What's its name? When does it flower? Is it hardy? I just bought Gloire de Versailles and Concha but I think yours is a more beautiful blue.
Loved the video, and I really appreciate that you say the name of the flowers and that you go by each one so we can look at them. I've been following you since last year because of that. I've come to love jude the obscure and lady of shalot. I bought desdemona this year. Another one that I'm liking is Benjamin britten; I don't think you have, but another youtuber that I follow has it. Hope to see more of your garden.
Thank you so much!! I have just filmed a review of Benjamin Britten. Look out for that to come over the next few weeks. I’m so pleased you like my channel. I’m so happy you return for more. Much love xx
Hi Darren, thanks for another fabulous video. Roses looking so dreamy. I was wondering how you get your Olivia Austin to stand so proud, the flowers on my seem determined to look at the ground...
Thank you my friend. Olivia does nod at times… especially if it’s been raining. Maybe the plant grows stronger over time? I’m not sure. How old is yours? Lotsa love xx
Hi From Türkiye Bodrum. Thank you for this heaven. 3.29 second I want to learn the name of before the golden celebration rose. I dont understand or her the name. Thank you.
That's excellent you have left the self seeded thistle, looks like a cultivar as it looks less spiny. I have a cultivar called Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum'. As well as the flowers and seedheads being great for wildlife as you said, the thistle leaves are one of the preferred caterpillar food plants for the Painted Lady butterfly - these butterflies lay their eggs on thistle leaves.
@@darren-harwood There's a great relaxing video on a channel called Filming VarWild about the Painted Lady. I am so happy you have a plant for butterfly caterpillars in your garden. Other foodplants for butterfly caterpillars include the wildflower birds-foot trefoil, nasturtium, sorrel and wild grasses.
Ohhh I’ve watched this so many times! I see something new each time. You didn’t mention it but I’d love to know what that intense pink rose is to the right of Harlow Carr or maybe it’s in front of. It’s so gorgeous, I must know!! 💕
Lovely garden🥰🌹...My rose garden is chemical free too..But I spray trichoderma based fungicide and neem oil based insecticide whivh are organic. Grasshoppers, bees, beetles feel free to party on leaves and flowers in my garden.
Hi Darren, I am a new subscriber and love your rose garden! You have lots of experience with David Austin roses. In your experience how long does sit 5ake a newly planted rose in garden to get established and produce good amount of blooms? I got three new Daive Austin last November, they are blooming now but not that many I expected. I love arose called Charles Darwin, it has amazing fragrance but it does not have a lot of blooms, only produced few so far. Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks for sharing and happy growing 😀!
Hello dear Mary. Re: roses - First year they sleep, second year they creep and third year they leap! It’s true ❤️ patience and love is all it takes. I’m so happy you’ve joined me. 🥰😘😍💚❤️
OMG what a beautiful tapestry of colors. Drooling & so so jealous. 😍😍😍. I got sold on you Jude the obscure. The chalice cup shape is to die for. 😘. I'm always looking forward to your jubilee celebration. You do not have Japanese beetles. They decimate my garden especially the roses at this time. Keep up on those videos so I can just have a vicarious experience even if I don't smell them 🤣
Ahhh!! Don’t get me started on Jude 😍 And jubilee celebration. Amazzzzing scent! Wish you could pop over to smell all the roses. Thanks for being so lovely. Lotsa love to you xxx
Your garden is amazing! You’ve got me on the hunt for a classical statue! Quick question: I have a brand new Harlow Carr, and she is underwhelming, with small blossoms. Should I give her a chance, wait a couple of years to let her come into her own, or do I replace her with Lady of Shallot?
If I may - I planted a bare root Lady of Shalott in a very large pot in October/November last year and half a dozen blooms which I would say are large have just opened, and there are dozens of buds just about to open, on a nice round bush maybe three feet tall and across. I have watered and fed it well and it is in a sunny position. The fragrance is for my sense of smell underwhelming, but the flowering and health seem very good. I haven't got Harlow Carr but understand that the blooms are slightly smaller, as is the bush, but the fragrance is strong. So it seems to be a choice between fragrance and size (and of course colour) if you are just considering these two.
Darcey is my baby. My first DA and she'll always be my baby. She's so good. While all my other roses are losing battle with bugs and mildew, my Darcey is a champion. I'm so sad she's been discontinued. 🥲

Hi Darren! I particularly enjoyed seeing your Jude the Obscure, so lovely. Mine is in it's second year and I'm wondering how you achieve such massive blooms with it? Incredible!

Absolutely beautiful. Your garden is a little corner of heaven. Your house looks very similar to mine at the back.
