- Centuries of conquest have allowed the Aztecs to become the mightiest empire in Central America. But when strangers appear on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, Montezuma, emperor of the Azetcs, is unsure whether they are conquerors...or gods. Can a vast empire of warriors using obsidian spears and cotton armor hold off mounted invaders armed with metal armor and gunpowder? Will the Aztec island-city of Tenochtitlan continue to conquer the Americas, or will it crumble beneath these foreign conquerors?

At the start of the game you can send two trebuchets to destroy Purple's castle and TC and he will resign. Same with Cortez Navy but there you only need to destroy the TC.

Viper, you may want to try Defensive stand, so the units won't stray too far from their original spot.

Sleepy Alchemist yeah I agree in the campaigns it would be but I doubt he'll do it. doesn't play into his super aggressive style. Back when I played against the AI defensive stance was my best friend
I feel like he was patrolling the units and they start chasing the first scouting unit they came across
Viper, when they said they demolished the southern causeway at 06:30, it meant they destroyed the southeastern bridge

A fun fact related to these turtle ship: in AoE3, a similar event happened. In Chinese's campaign, their convoy appeared in America and met the Aztec.
Those turtle ships were heroes to him cause he lost them soon after he realized he had them 😂
You are really going to like the Portuguese campain in the african expansion. Its all combat.
This mission was my personal all time favorite mission of AoE. I played this so many times and eventually developed somewhat of a build order. This mission was pretty ruthless if you weren't quick but once I figured out I could defeat the Cortez Army with the turtle ships alone this mission became very easy.

If Viper reaches 100K, we suggest that he plays the Age of Mythology campaign! ALL OF IT without interruptions!
The cutscenes have the best graphics in Age of Mythology. It really feels like Arkantos is a real person. ;)
Age of Mythology is by far my favorite mythological game, even better than God of War!

I hope Manzikert is next, it's my favourite scenario in Conquerors. I don't like Tours all that much, sure it can be done fast, but once you lose one of the goals, you have to play a normal game vs 2 enemies.
I think he's gonna do them in chronological order so Tours is next!

Tenochtitlan was a truly great city. Despite being destroyed and rebuilt, it has since become Mexico City, one of the largest cities worldwide.

Am I the only one who thinks this campaign was a wasted opportunity to swap the roles of player and AI?
The whole campaign always has you fight Spaniards who can produce new units. Wouldn't it have been really surprising and challenging to take the usual "limited number of troops to reach an objective" thing that RTSs do from time to time and make the AI have limited, but OP units that have to reach the objective, vs. you with your strong but fragile units trying to stall and ambush them, and ultimately kill them? It would underline the fact that Cortes did not get many reinforcements (apart from mutineers) for his Spanish army.
Well, it is supposed a campaign for an expansions civ. And there isn't much known of the great battles of the Aztecs besides their final ones.
I'm not saying the scenarios presented are wrong, if you meant that. Just that instead of reusing the Conquerors demo level (Montezuma-1, with the temples) they could have added something like this instead.
in all the missions that you have limited troops you couldn't possibly win if the AI just attacked with all of them. not sure how you'd avoid a player gathering their forces
I think they tried that with Incas campaign also known as El Dorado. Those campaign missions are horribly bad.

@Viper: Just a little tip to save on stone: in 9:35, if you build a gate over wall foundations, you don't actually get the 4*5 stone from the disappearing wall foundations back. You lose 20 stone every time when you do that. It does save time though, maybe that's why you do it? I've seen you do it lots of times on twitch too, so I thought I'd mention it.
Oh, and another little trick I use: if you are checking idle vils but you have a clump of them together waiting (like in 11:23); you can just move them as a group to a nearby spot so they're 'busy' and you can actually go to the real idle villagers you want to discover; none of those in the idle group.
I'm aware of this, I only do it if I feel the 20 stone isn't a big deal. :)

Please chance the encoding back to what it was before 3.5, it's still turning the whole screen blurry if the camera moves.
I'm not sure why that is, I have changed absolutely nothing on my end. I'll look into it though.
TheViperAOC - Age of Empires 2 You need to remember to change volume before the 'cutscenes' like You did in your earlier missions. The story is low volume. Would be nice to have back this feature :)
This might be a problem with the grass texture, since it seems to have very little luminosity change, and compressing video usually takes the form of splitting an image into "luminosity" and "chrominance" and then dropping a lot of the quality of the chrominance layers because human eyes are far more focused on luminosity than chrominance. What that means for AoE II is that the nearly black-and-white city tile texture in Tenochtitlan will look good even when scrolling past, while the grass texture will lose a lot of quality as soon as the view moves, because the luminosity map only has a few rapidly changing dots (that might even get smoothed away completely in motion).

Taking out the TC with 3 trebs conquers the Army and Navy; only real battle is with the Ally. The Army can be conquered in the first 5 minutes and the Navy a little while later. Saves lots of time!!!
i usually deal with purple by rushing trebs and destroy the tc. purple auto resigns.

I do this on hard. Assign all vilager to gold mining, create 3 trebs and 1 transport ship. Assign trebs to attack army TC then navy TC.

i think you should focus to kill one by one. purple or red first. max pop is only 75, so you make the game harder yourself! and after your monk were slaughter, you should know ai upgrade tech that make convert harder and stop buying monk! btw your micro when landing troop to blue is amazing.

I don't know if it was Bari but that mission where you have to take out the enemy city from a distant village and they have gold mines to the east... that was a pain in the ass. I think I played it 5 or 6 hours before I could break them.
Yes that was Bari, I had to play that mission for 12 hours in game time before i finished it

That moment when you're Mexican and you knew from the beginning how this would end. Still a very enjoyable campaign though I wish they would have continued it until the complete tragic downfall of the empire.
