Thank you so much ! I literally put this latch in 4 times before I found your video and realized the handle haves to be face down ! You turned my 20 minute job back into a 3 minute job!
Your instructions worked perfectly! Thank you so much! I’m the wife/handyman in our house and my kid kept kicking and stepping on my middle console to play with the moonroof for school and he broke my latch. Now I’m all set thanks to you!
Totally understandable….everything is made out of plastic nowadays. So glad this video was helpful because it’s super annoying when the lid won’t stay down 😂
Thank you for telling us exactly where that spring goes… Had to watch three or four videos nobody said how to do it put it out five times but once you showed me where the spring goes, then it worked in less than five minutes thank you thank you thank you
It was a total pain, and once I did it the wrong way once, I was like “let’s make sure no one else gets stuck like I did” so I’m really happy you found this video helpful!
You saved me too! Mitch I saw your comment on another video and it directed me here. If not for the part about the spring alignment, I would’ve lost my mind thinking I bought a bad replacement piece!
Thank you for the tutorial, I appreciate it! The plastic with the hole on the right side snapped off of my assembly. Luckily, I found the piece that broke off and superglued it with Loctite Ultra Gel Control. After letting it cure for a few hours in the baking heat/sun, I followed your instructions for the pin, put it in the right side with the hole, and used a flathead screwdriver to push it flush into the left side. Once I reassembled everything, the handle works good as new! 5/5 ⭐️
My goofie self forgot about the other peice I took off. I was like why is it looking down all sad like so I had to come look up a video. Thank you!!!!!
Holy crap i went round and round had it in 10 different ways had it the right way but didnt think it was right till i seen you put the cover on that held the latch fu@$#^k i was fighting it cuz im some body that can figure things out but i was beaten and had to go to u tube thank you i still love my Honda and now i love you to
It’s so much harder once it’s broken to know how it should be put back together! Don’t beat yourself up. Congrats on putting your Honda back together :-)
Unfortunately when I opened it up that piece was fine! It's the plastic piece on the sliding mechanism I have to replace! 😭 Still appreciate the video showing how it all comes together!

It’s hard when it’s already broken to figure out how it lines back up! I’m so glad you found this video helpful!!

Amazing! So glad you were able to fix this (super annoying when it’s broken)
I think this is exactly what my mom needs, thanks so much.
Awesome! Let us know how it goes!
actually had to change the middle plastic piece. Was able to do it with these great instructions.
Proud of you for completing this yourself and saving $$
Super easy tutorial to follow! Thank you 🙏
Great video.
I feel ashamed of myself after watching this video.
Thanks so much
Don’t feel ashamed, this was not an easy task - hence why I filmed the parts where the job went sideways for me too
I’ll give this a try! The lid not closing on my Honda Civic has been a pain.
Especially when it's spring loaded and keeps popping up!
@@GirlieGarage mission accomplished! A pretty easy fix. Much thanks!! I can’t believe I was considering the dealer fixing this.
@@rockyonguard That's GREAT news! Thank you for sharing and proud of you for tackling it!
Awesome thanks I just had to bend my spring a little bit could not figure out how to get it out😊🎉
My goofie self forgot about the other peice I took off. I was like why is it looking down all sad like so I had to come look up a video. Thank you!!!!!
I feel that! That’s why I put the mistake I made in this video too because it was so easy to miss a couple things. Great job completing this yourself!
You make that look so easy!
Someone please!!!! I don’t have the plate that holds the clip in place!! Where can I find it??
If it didn’t come with the Amazon kit (link in description) you could likely get it directly from Honda (parts department)
This is exactly what I need! Many thanks!
Great tutorial! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! I’m doing my best
Very helpful, thank you!

great DIY video, thank you!
I’m glad you found this video helpful!
Thanks from Pakistan
Does the latch come with the spring on amazon or can you just reuse the old one?
There’s a link in the video description to the part if that’s helpful. It came with the spring: amzn.to/3W8K8yG
