    Some clarifications to an otherwise very helpful video. Don't confuse the camshaft hall SENSOR with the magnetic cam adjustment solenoid (which was replaced in this video). The sensors tell the computer the position of the cam whereas the solenoid adjusts the position of the cam based on readings/signals received by the computer. I believe the torque values on this part is 5.9 ft. lbs. Also, there is a set of sacrificial cables sold and it would be a good idea to replace those as well when changing out the solenoids. I bought my set for $40 @ FCP Euro, which also provide a lifetime replacement warranty on anything they sell.

    You saved me money. Instruction are great! The only thing that I had to do different for my 2007 GL450 was to unbolt the oil-check cylinder so that I could get to that tough bolt. Thank you

      This was a helpful tip, I did the same thing and it made taking that bottom bolt off way easier.
      FYI for my 2007 GL450 I used 8mm female torx rather than a 10mm like in the video for those 3 bolts.

    Great and helpful video but I think you made a mistake stating which sensor your changing. I say this because in the beginning you explain which is bank 1 and bank 2 along with the intake and exhaust sides. You say that the sensor for intake is the inside and exhaust is on the outside but while starting to remove the intake side you instead say exhaust side??? So you actually removed the intake and not the exhaust sensor correct??? It was a bit confusing. Thank you again for the great video!

      I would recommend you call a few reputable shops in your area and ask them. Most will not charge you more than one hour labor per magnet.

    This was very helpful. Thank you. The bolt size is E8. I replaced the same magnet yesterday, but after that my car threw a P0016 code. So I went from P0015 to P0016 by changing the magnet. I wonder if I need to drive the car for some distance in order for the code to go away completely.

    • @sat_sonic
      @sat_sonic  6 років тому +1

      dtddtd1 - some people say to replace all of the magnets at once as they are not that expensive. Then I’d clear all codes and you should be good. I don’t think your P0016 is directly connected to P0015. Likely a coincidence.

    • @sat_sonic

      PKing - they are not very big bolts and it’s plastic housing. Just snug is what I did. I don’t have exact torque value.

    Great Video! I have a 2007 S550 same exact magnet/code. May I ask what your symptoms were before replacing? Any rough idling while in Drive with the brakes on like at a stoplight? THANKS :)

    • @sat_sonic
      @sat_sonic  6 років тому

      MRBADASS
      Sorry I don’t know of the symptoms because I replaced the sensor the same day I got the check engine light. As it’s referred to as a camshaft position, I think if you don’t replace it in a timely manner it can cause severe damage to the camshaft and or timing of the entire engine.

    I have a 2007 ml 350 code P0015 says exhaust timing cam delayed
    Also code p2006 manifold runner control stuck closed bank 1
    P0455 emission system leak detected (gross leak/no flow)

    • @edwardandrade4390
      @edwardandrade4390 4 роки тому

      What I had to do for the runner fix was actually the hole manifold. Only reason is the runner could have just broken on front or the hole runner. Mine was both after taken all out and checking

    Anyone... so I've got a question the code say the magnet or the sensor next to it too? I've got the P0012. Should I'd replace both or just the magnet?

    • @sat_sonic
      @sat_sonic  4 роки тому

      I think typically it’s just the magnet. But for me the code was P0015. So if you have 2 codes you may want to replace them both as these parts aren’t very expensive.

    íf the intake camshaft sensor or magnets cause an error it might be the timing chain since its directly connected to the intake camshafts. if its the exhaust camshafts the timing chain is not affected, lenghtend. the exhaust camshafts are directly connected to the intake camshafts without any chain. intake and exhaust camshafts twist in the opposite side of each other directly connected over teeth. long story short. exhaust errors are mostly caused by the magnets or sensors. worst case scenario might be a damaged or dirty camshaftregulator that doesnt go back to the 0 position anymore. try changing the magnets first as shown here, sensors second and if that doesnt solve the enginelight to turn off after a while its a mechanical problem. hope this helps you getting mislead into an expensive repair :D

    I have this exact code on my S550 it rides fine however I have a smell as if it’s running hot after about 20mins of driving! Will this code make the car smell like that?

    • @RothBeyondTheGrave
      @RothBeyondTheGrave 3 роки тому +1

      Burning oil, or burning fuel smell? The cam magnet has an o ring which does leak and if it's gone on long enough, it could reach the manifold and burn. Also could be many other things of course.
      Very easy to spot one of these magnets if they're leaking by a quick inspection around where they mount into the timing cover
