- The family of a Michigan teen is filing a lawsuit against Detroit Judge Kenneth King after he ordered her to be handcuffed for falling asleep in the courtroom.
To say that the judge was in his right to “arrest” the girl is absurd! She was not a juvenile of the court system! She was not in trouble, but simply on a field trip!
He was power stricken to say the least. The mom is not trying to get a quick buck! I would sue the judge too if that happened to my child! This story alone shows that we see Black children as adults and we feel we should make an example out of them!

@@makaylacrenshaw1912 contempt of court applies to everyone in the court room. Family members of people being sentenced get thrown in jail for contempt sometimes when they act up. The judge was out of line and should be punished, but the girl and her family don’t deserve a penny.

Should the girl or her family get any money from this. Absolutely not. They don’t deserve a penny. Both parties were in the wrong. They both need to move on and learn their lesson from this.

If he os so remorseful then why did he refuse to apologize to the young lady and her mother? He doubled down and said he was traumatized.
He should be removed from the bench as well.

This is how sad the United States has gotten I'm almost 70 I served in the military common sense is out the window technology is destroying the minds of young people with social disconnection discharge did the correcting teach that girl damn lesson for being a stupid stupid stupid person in the beginning of our life falling asleep in a courtroom how dare you do that he did the right thing and instead of being rewarded he's being removed that means that criminals are made to last

The court is not his kingdom and he is not a king. A judge who has such terrible judgement should not sit in judgment of other people making life altering judgements.
That in fact is HIS courtroom. Even if u don't have a court date but are in that courtroom, u still have to abide by the rules. Then getting an attitude with the judge cuz she fell asleep multiple times. U can't do that.

That's absolutely ridiculous... it's no wonder she is having trouble sleeping. Certainly NOT the judges fault. That fault lies on the parents that brought a child into the world they obviously can't take care of. Judge King did what any GOOD parent would do that.... teaching that brat to have respect for authority, (especially a courtroom) RESPECT is something a lot of parents these days seem to lack the ability to teach. Its no wonder America is going to sh%$ our youth are allowed to do and say whatever they please. As for suing, WHAT A JOKEis the mother that desperate to find a means to put a roof over her head that she'd not only exploit her child but blame her lousy parenting on the system. If you ask me the mother might need a night or 2 at the gray bar motel herself.

She fell asleep and had an attitude in court. It doesn't matter if she was there for court or not. It's called contempt. If u go there to see a family member/friend that has a court date, u can still be held in contempt for not following court rules. Why the mom come on tv wearing a belly shirt? Come on. Sounds like someone is trying to get a go fund me cuz they don't have a home. Why is that? U can't just do w.e u want in a courtroom, if it's for u or just as audience.
