*HELLO* ! I was just asking BRANDON about you a couple days ago and like an early Christmas GIFT - *HERE Y O U ARE* and we are ALL SO GLAD! your mind is always working and TOPCAT may take you away since you can do better than who they have. Those short/low cuts look like split fire wood! Good deal 2 & *THANK YOU*
If you have Aux-2 piping on your skidsteer, you could use it to operate the upper grab independently. They you can use the upper jaws as an accumulator so you can cut several small trees at a time. Westtech shears are set up with a spring-jaw on the accumulator grab for easier opening, works pretty slick and you can cut a snoot-full at a time. When working around surrounding tall trees, try shearing them off as high as you can reach first, then go back after the remainder. Much easier to navigate around other trees and get them laid down without stripping branches off desirable trees that are nearby. These are great videos, there's a lot we can all learn by seeing what works and what doesn't!
nice job. i am 63 . when iwas 24 bobcat had a machine 1080 dedicated to shearing . what i see from your video is the exposed hoses . if a top breaks out and comes down on your quik conects huge expense. look up and be ready just like falling timber. long live the logger and the trucker and the guy who gets up early gets paid for his hard work be smart when cutting trees . peace
Nice I got alot of time with one of those a few years back . Once you get used to it you can fly around cutting. All forestry equipment needs constant welding though!
Those tree shears are designed to run right in the dirt to cut the stump as close as possible to the ground…as long as you aren’t trying to chip rocks with them you can get pretty up close and personal to the turf…that shear is basically like a feller buncher without the the accumulator claw and the disk saw…bobcat made a big skid back in the day specifically designed for sylviculture and it ran a head very similar to this one…it’s all technique at the end of the day…
Mikey for the price you paid for it, you get 10X that back. Its another money maker, the little bits all add up. You could let DB Junior loose with that thing he would have a whale of a time! Good to see you back on your feet!
DB, could you flip the cylinder end where the grease zerk hit to the front like you mentioned so it wouldn’t hit? At least on the one end….. just a thought. Hard to tell from a video glimpse. Looking forward to what’s to come 👍🏼
Have fun with your new toy and I can’t wait to hear about what you have in store for the machine??? I’m thinking there’s something big in the works!!!??? Great to see you on your feet and moving like the OG DIRT BOSS!!!! Have a very Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 and I hope we’ll see you before next year 😂😂!!!! Give my regards to the girls and Max too!!!!
Fantastic deal on that tree muncher, Dirt Boss! I wonder if you couldn't undo that chrome end where the jerk busted and twist it over to have it facing out. You can't do that with the other end, but instead, I wonder if you could spin the whole piston end for end, keeping the hydraulics facing down and then have both jerks facing out. That MIGHT change the dynamics of those jaws opening/closing, but it might be worth looking at. I also thought about possibly some thick hard rubber bumpers you could mount at the jerk contact points.
Yes I thought of that too I think that will work I just didn't want to get hydraulic fluid all over me for the 15th time.. LOL.. I actually plated in it today in the weak spots got a little more to do before she hits the woods..
I used a similar design almost 40 years ago on a 1087B Case excavator cutting wood. Once you get the hang of it you'll love it. I would suggest you keep the trees 12" or smaller, makes it easier on everything your machine included. Keep Smilin,
Yes, I bought this Topcat Tree Sheer, and like you, I bought it from an auction. It came with no instructions, only a plastic back with the electrical wiring. I also was scratching my head until I found your video. Thank you so much. Can you please post a hose connection diagram along with the size of the hydraulic T connectors? Thank you for your videos!
You could always rotate that ram around if you have long enough hydraulic hoses or tap and die som new Greece nipples on opposite side to save happening again or rotate ram and extend hoses if needed I suppose either way would do the job! Good to see you back looking forward to seeing new content after the new year 👍
I have the same one and crazy part I did the same thing with my hydraulics. I was the one that we talked before about the grapple that I reinforced. We must think alike lol.
Very same back to you and the young ones! I was really happy to see your *BIG GUY* drop a new video. Many of us just love that guy along with his great family. God bless!
Mike.....glad your doing well and it appears the back is feeling better. Can't wait for the new content but I gotta say buddy.....any content you put out is fantastic! Happy Holidays and Thank You Mark in Florida
Thanks for the video! My husband and I just picked up one of these attachments and there isn't a website or a manual (that I could find) to figure out what to do with the remote that came with it. It appears as though it can be wired into something, but I'm not sure what. It's good to know that we don't need the remote.
Careful you don’t bite off more than you can chew. I’ve read about guys getting them wedged in hardwoods. Then you have to unhook and break out the chainsaw
Hey mike just to be clear when connecting theae hoses do i connect tee chrome side top grapple hose with chrome side shear hose and same for black side ? Has to be right, if i tee both grapple together it will just fight each other? Help me out get this correct . Thank you
The 2 hydraulic couplers on the shear are larger than the hook up on my machine. Did you have to change yours? How hard is it to find a nipple to go from a metric to a standard??
Hi, what type of Tee did you use? size, dimensions? did you order online? and where? I have been looking all over for them but no one carries British standard pipe fittings which is what my hoses are I believe. thanks

👍great info bought one at Richie bros auction went to Montreal to pick it up really like what you did with the hydraulics
At 15:25 Just remove the pin and turn the cylinder so the grease zerk is on the front. You knocked it off once and you will do it again!
Or maybe it was a compression zerk, no nipple, made for snap-off prone locations.
Nice Christmas present to have you back.
Nice review. Brutally honest, as they all should be.
Good to see you back
You should be ok for cutting just remember no pushing y'all have a Merry Christmas 👍🏻🇺🇸

Nice addition to your fleet mike best part was that it’s colour match to your kubota 😂😂
Could you flip the top piston over to avoid hitting the grease ports?
Thanks for the video. That is the first time I've seen that type of implement on a CTL.

The shear I have uses a sequencing valve. That way the the grab tines never see full pressure.
Pretty nice attachment mike, we'll see how long it lasts, hopefully a long time, it worked good, thanks for sharing

Good to see you back Mike it don’t look like it’s worth it at least to me

Great video Mike. Have a Merry Christmas Brother.
I make tree shears for small excavators with one arm cut for doing small over hanging limbs and that unit looks very good for the price 👌

Neat attachment BossMan!! I can see where this could be useful for sure
You could try flipping that top cylinder over so the grease fitting won't get smashed again

So I take it you will be building a shop there in the woods next to the parking lot.

Can you flip the cylinder eye to move the grease fitting forward?

That top right hydraulic cylinder rod can be disconnected and flipped over so the grease fitting will be facing forward.
That’s killer Deal and Work nice
