I love your videos man. I'm in my second year studying mechanical engineering, and I currently own a '93 Dodge Stealth r/t I've been working on and fixing up. I've got some crazy plans for it largely inspired by you
You explained this briefly in that livestream a couple months ago, appreciate you diving into it in more detail here! Finally scanned my Supra and will be working on a bumper for a it over the holidays, this is great timing :). Thanks man, you're an absolute asset to the community!
@@klausAZ good luck on your project! I said it in another comment but this time around I'll be doing the process in more detailed defined steps rather than parts of the car.
Thanks for making this video. I'm a Fusion 360 for beginners FB group, and i've got about 5 years of experience with it. I'm not a newb, but i'm there to help answer q's. BUT so many people download .STL's of meshes of a model they want thinking that the mesh IS the model and "why cant i do anything...???" Well, bud. you cant lol. you need convert the mesh into a solid... I wish this was widely understood more.
That looks great! The 3d scanning was wild! That makes a ton of sense with only purpose of needing the 3d scan to get accuracy in measurements. 👍🏽I get it now
looks so nice. love to see the renders. would those scanning dots still worked if you put them on a thin magnet strip? that way they can be moved around, reused, and have an easier clean up ?
I have an old S14 I've been holding on to for sentimental reasons, and I hope to get a scan of the car someday, so I can start working on the wide body kit I designed for the car 18 years ago... lol Now with 3D printing and scanning it can really help bring my vision to life. Hope to get a good quality scanner soon. Good video.
Great Video. Thanks for the reverse engineering description of 3d scanning. I was in the scan the headlight group type thinking till you explained that
I just bought the Vega thanks to you! I bought it for scanning my Kei van. I guess I need to get the bigger tracking dots! The Kei van is a whole lot of flat space.
A banger. Been using solidworks for a while but have been considering learning a polygon based modeling software for a few reasons, including car parts, will try maya over break
Neat, are the renders being put into Automation (AFAIK this is what the cars are being rendered in - this is the Tundra Photoscene IIRC, and the last one was one of the beaches)

Would you recommend the Einstar, or the Einstar Vega for a first time 3D scanner, for similar automotive work? Is the Vega good enough now?

@@RicheyBLS yep, people 3D print little triangles and stick the stickers on them. Problem is not all panels are magnetic, especially with newer cars.
