I like to take a bag of frozen Italian meatballs and trow them in the crockpot with Prego and cook them until they are super tender. Then put them on the food table with with slider buns for mini meatball sliders. They are always a hit!
Also, try the homestyle ones in brown gravy OR in white pasta sauce & one packet of brown gravy mixed. Yum! We did both for my daughter's diy wedding reception years ago.
Hi Brooke and everybody, you can also make the meatballs with a can of cranberry sauce and about a cup of your favorite BBQ sauce. Brown sugar, and vinagar.
I've always done finger food. Now my 3 adult children do the same. Also my adult grandkids follow the tradition. We play board games, do jig saw puzzles and crafts with the Young children. Some watch Christmas movies or football. In the afternoon we go out for taking turns target practice. Very relaxed day. Normally I don't use disposable dinner ware. This day we do. It's time after the holiday bustle to spend it with family. Since we are rural bon fire at the burn pit and s'mores at the mini pit. Weather permitting in the Nebraska Panhandle. Love your recipes. Love your family. You guys are a hoot.
In the 70s and 80s when those crockpot meatballs were brought to almost every gathering involving food there were so many different versions of the chili sauce recipe and they were really good. The brown sugar was omitted and jelly and preserves used for the sweet component. I remember liking the versions made with grape jelly, orange marmalade, pineapple preserves, peach preserves and the apricot preserves. I obviously liked the fruity versions. Chili sauce, ranch dressing (bottled or the powdered) and orange marmalade makes an awesome chicken glaze, add a side of rice to put extra sauce on and a green veggie and that is a good meal!
We make 2 different versions for our Christmas Eve buffet. The guys like the meatballs with grape jelly and A1steak sauce and I prefer the ones made with grape jelly and chili sauce. I detest A1 steak sauce with every fiber of my being but the guys would drink that stuff straight out of the bottle. 😂
I think the chili sauce & brown sugar taste better than adding jelly to the chili sauce. I tried the jelly & cranberry sauce with chili sauce & thought it was too sweet & just didn't like the taste. The brown sugar adds just the right amount of sweetness. Thanks for the recipe Southern Frugal Momma!
My mom used to make a cheese ball with a grated white medium firm cheese mixed with cream cheese and chopped chipped beef that came in a jar (mom would soak the beef in cold water, with like 2 water changes and let it dry before using). Mom added a bit of Worcestershire sauce to the mix. That was a yummy cheese ball. One relative used to make a cream chese and crushed pineapple cheese ball, that was surprisingly tasty and different. My Aunt made the cheddar one that was rolled in crushed walnuts or pecans. I had one once that was a pimento cheese cheese ball, yum! It had shredded cheddar cheese, crean cheese, mayo, a tiny bit of sugar, a tiny bit of vinegar and a small jar of chopped pimentos. Drain and towel off the pimentos to remove some of their liquid. The cheeseball I had like that was rolled in toasted plain bread crumbs but I bet it would be great rolled in finely chopped blanched almonds. I used to buy cheeseballs at the grocery store for weekend TV snacking, I liked the port wine one with nuts on the outside, my husband liked the cheddar one with walnuts. We'd eat a whole cheeseball each over the weekend, we were young and skinny way back then. Lol My very bratty younger sister called me last night specifically to tell me she was eating a crab dip cheese ball with some fancy little bread rounds, she's obviously the evil sister.
Okay so I cook in my 17 inch skillet too 😂 people come over and I whip out a pan fit for the army and I get some looks. It’s heavy!! Haha I love it though. It turns the stove into a cast iron sheet pan essentially. 10/10 recommend to anyone. Lol
I make them by the pan full!! Cookie sheet with sides, line them all up, pack brown sugar over the whole thing. Bake till bacon is cooked, transfer to a crockpot, sauce & all. Put on low and watch them disappear! The co-worker that told me about these years ago called them CRACK WEENIES. Once you've tried them you'll know why!! Just NEVER use cocktail weiners. Ya gotta do Little Smokies!!
cheese dip - YUM ! I do 32 ounces of Veleveeta cheese brick in a crockpot. Pound of hamburger drained. Can of diced jalapeno peppers. Can of Rotel HOT diced tomatoes or just petite diced tomatoes or even fresh chopped tomatoes. Cook on low. Stir and stir until melted. Been making this for over 40 years. My momma's cheese dip. Love all your recipes. I'm a Colorado gal and we like things HOT, LOL. Add fresh serranos, jalapenos. All I know is it is a super hit at every party, every get-together. Thank you for your variation ! You ROCK !
The meatballs are really good .we use pretzel sticks to eat them with instead of toothpicks and works well with the little winners also . Just eat the whole snack pretzel and all
Hi Dusty. When you told Brooke she with hold's the dip from you, and Brooke said it was for special occasions, you should have said " every day is a special occasion with you darling/love" (or whatever term of endearment you prefer). Maybe then she would make it more often for you. Hay Brooke, you certainly have some appreciative eaters in your house. Dusty and Bradon's (hope I got spelling right) faces say it all. All those dishes look amazing. Much love and respect from the South of England. xxxxx
How fun ~~ these are OUR favorites too!! Well, except instead of meatballs we have little smokies. I'll have to try the little meatballs, I think the guys would love them too!
I believe it's a one to one ratio or there about. My mother used similar size jars, a quick search shows 12 oz of chili sauce to 10 oz of grape jelly.@@robinholbrook8296
Just made the Not Your Typical Ham & Swiss Sliders and set them in fridge for 6 hrs. It will be our first time trying marinated Sliders! Lol Thanks Brooke for sharing! Happy New Year to you and your Family! 🎊🎉🎊 ✌🏻
Wooster rhymes with rooster shire sauce. It’s made with anchovies. That’s pretty much exactly how I make my sliders. The exception is that I always use real butter. Quality makes a difference. I really enjoy seeing your family test stuff. It’s so real. We have what you call hamburger dip at least once a month. Any leftovers become part of a Mexican soup or get turned into a sloppy Joe sandwich. I’m disappointed that you didn’t make sausage cheese balls. Those are my favorite. It’s always fun watching your videos. Enjoy your Christmas party.
My mom learned a great dip at church, rotel spiced tomatoes, sour cream and sausage, add cream cheese, so yummy! Love these, keep ‘em coming! Love from Virginia 🥰. Also love your ceramic knife, just bought one and looove how it cuts!!!
Thanks for these yummy looking recipes Brooke ! If y’all enjoy pineapple add some crushed and drained pineapple to the last dip with ham, cream cheese snd onion , the pineapple is delicious with ham , onion and cream cheese!!
Yes! I make a similar one with green onion, green peppers and pineapple added. Worcestershire sauce instead of salt adds great flavor too. Oh and I like to add chopped pecans for more texture. Yum!
Amazing family ! wow! very nice your recipes! i call that MEDIUM CLASS FAMILY MEALS! THAT US! am from Canada, province of Québec,Québec city! BONJOUR=HELLO !😊
My frozen meatball go-to is brown gravy mix prepared with about 1/4 less water and half and half for the other 1/4 (added at the end). Surprisingly delicious.
I will definitely be making some of these, they look absolutely delicious, bless you and bless your family during this holiday season and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas
Love all of the recipes and I have made versions of all 4 over the years. One thing I always add to the hamburger dip is one pound Jimmy Dean sausage (I brown it with the hamburger) and double the Velveeta, we call it Monkey Dip, lol. And the ham and cheese slider sauce is made with "warsh yer sister" sauce, 🤣. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for sharing these recipes. We have various gatherings for the holidays I want to bring appetizers for. BTW, have you ever considered making a video of how you care for your cast iron? Your cast iron pan always looks perfect!
I make a cheese ball with onion bell pepper and crushed pineapple and I roll it in sunflower seeds
That sounds really good! I think I’m going to do that, but swap it out for jalapeños, I love jalapeño and pineapple together!
I like to take a bag of frozen Italian meatballs and trow them in the crockpot with Prego and cook them until they are super tender. Then put them on the food table with with slider buns for mini meatball sliders. They are always a hit!

Dusty: “thank you”.
There’s no better way to say something is delicious than that!
And the head back w the roll of the eyes…lol
Breydon and Dusty are the same- when they REALLY like a dish they both close their eyes like they are in culinary heaven 😋😁👍🥪
Hi Brooke and everybody, you can also make the meatballs with a can of cranberry sauce and about a cup of your favorite BBQ sauce. Brown sugar, and vinagar.
And add some cocktail wieners and pineapple chunks
@@mysticmom616 sounds delicious!!!
Bonita, that’s how I make my meatballs too. Delicious!
That sounds delicious ❤
This sounds delicious and so festive
For get the dip I would put that sauce in a pot of macaroni.❤😊
I would add an onion, a pepper, and shrooms and make that hamburger dip a meal. Never too many veggies.

Little smokies wrapped in bacon and sprinkled with brown sugar are a family favorite.
I make this- it’s awesome. But I dump, rather than sprinkle, the brown sugar.😋

Awesome recipes, thanks Brooke 👍❤️👍❤️👍
Cranberry meatballs are our favorite
I use orange marmalade and and sweet baby rays original with those same meatballs!
The cheeseball is similar to one we made in the 80’s. Cream cheese budding beef and green onion.
Yes, and we add a couple scoops of french onion dip to make it smoother so it doesnt break your chips or crackers.
I just found your channel and I really enjoyed it. Your family is adorable .
🤣🤣watching them eat is so funny. I will have to try these!!
Thank you for sharing these recipes, they all look great. I am going to make the hamburger dip for my family for Christmas.

Good Evening Brooke, I loved your appetizers that you just made. I’m making them for us on Christmas Eve. Thank you and 🫂 hugs to you ❤
They great with grapes jelly on meatballs or Lil smokies also.
❤ thank you for fun finger food Merry Christmas to you and your family
You could roll the cheese ball in sliced almonds, to coat the outside with nuts. That would be good too.
Something eh? Even parsley or finely grated cheese would make it look more finished
We always made ours with pineapple tidbits with the juice, homemade cranberry sauce and a bottle of chili sauce. To die for
