He was a great character, well written and likeable. He represented the not fully evil part of the evil in LOTR. Often evil in this series is represented as pure evil and it makes people not really care about the enemies. (For example, nobody was sad about the Pale Orc dying, because he was pure evil and unlikable). I like this nuance they brought with a semi-evil dark lord, I really did like him. His last scene with Galadriel, showing what he looked like before Morgoth was really nice.
I can see Sauron taking a page from Morgoth’s book and pinning Adar to the side of Baradur, forcing him to see the destruction and enslavement of his children thru Sauron’s vision. Adar was one of the few things I really liked in 1st Season ROP. I think the new actor is doing a great job making the character his own.
Adar is way scarier than the typical orc. With his appearance you can see he was once an elf, making the possibility of corruption happening all too possible.
Why didn’t Galadriel save Adar when the Orcs were stabbing him? He gave her the ring back. He was going to help her . She just stood there and did nothing.
I didn't get it either.. :( like it didn't feel in character for me she would not even try something especially after the ring scene, but someone pointed out that she was kinda shock frozen (and ) mostly too because sensened Sauron .. honestly she really looked unwell and terrified ..(so) at that point in the story I think it kinda makes sense. But I wish they'd written it somehow differently - even if him being killed like that🙄😒-
Your right, Adar will most probably die a horrible death. I just hope it won't be in E8 and that he will be back for S3. IMO, Adar is the most interesting character in the series so far ! Not to mention that Sam Hazeldine is doing a fantastic job replacing Joseph Mawle as Adar.
The immortality of orcs really burns me. We know two things. 1) Melkor/Morgoth can not create life- he can only corrupt. 2) The gifts of Eru can not be removed- once immortal, always immortal. The only exception were the half-elven who were given the choice only after Eru allowed them to. So an elf is always an elf and corrupted elves would still have elven children; maybe there was a way that Morgoth made them born corrupted, but they would still have the gift of immortality since that was given by Eru.
Would they still have the automatic immortality if they are half elven? Like, corrupted elves mated with perhaps corrupted humans? I am unsure if the humans existed then but if? If there where humans at the same time, they didn't have the immortality, and mixed with immortal blood, would it be possible to the kids to have either? Say there is immortal kids, they get killed, and the mortal half-breeds get kept and corrupted further? But that in itself would mean that "Adar" and Co only were the fathers/mothers to the first generations of orcs, not the kids after. Another thought, when did the first trolls appear? Can they, if not humans, be the first to breed with the corrupted ones?
I would consider this less of them directly trying to change the lore, and more as them simply expanding on what already exists. I think for your average viewer he is a fantastic addition that helps relay that orcs where elf's once. Also I believe orcs where loyal to their creator, not to Sauron, so of course they would have a powerful figure to fill that gap. I find flaws with many things in the show, but Adar is definitely not one of them.
That's peculiar, how in your video it all makes sence. If i haven't already watched both seasons I would probably consider this a very promising series. I like how the storytelling and video sequence match each other. And I'm beginning to think the idea was actually good, it's the implementation which sucks. I have no problem with black dwarves and hobbits, not at all. In fact Disa is a great character and I like her, I've got no problem with elf being puerto-rican only with his being terrible actor (may be that's just not his role, I'm not the one to judge). When Adar stroke him with his own arrow the first thing came into my mind was "Finally". And that's not what was to happen, i think. Arondir was supposed to be good compelling character, was he not? In fact this Adar is the only intersting character with more or less understandable motivtion and logical behaviour. Also he's kinda hot in a dark weird way. I've been whatching this show out of subbornness, i wanted to find something good about it. This dark elf or uruk is this only good thing I could find. If they kill him, that's it...the series will be done for me.
Morgoth (chaos and destruction) one Vala who becomes known as the first dark lord. (formerly Melkor). "Made" orcs, Balrogs, dragons and spider beasts, with: "his" Black-Speech song. (An entirely different song than the song of creation by Eru Illuvatar). When the first of Eru Illuvatar's children (Maiar) woke up in Arda (the world). By "ability": "the breath of life". And Ada was an elf and dark blonde. And since everything in Arda is part of Eru's composed creation song, they changed how they look, through Morgoth's Black-Speech song. Is that understood?
Adar wear a gauntlet because he was tied by that arm on that nameless peak. That's when he saw him, Sauron and he was beautiful. He offered me wine as red as a blood Moon. I drank it I drank it all. When Morgoth untied him he gave him a new working arm in a gauntlet. If theres a better explanation I'm all ears

Now that I know how Galadriel was changed, I am disappointed in the show runners and Amz. It would have been better as she was. A mother who lost a child and a beloved family member in Celibrimbor to Sauron’s evil. Galadriel never worked for me in the show and it had nothing to do with her story-which I didn’t know. Now that I know it, it’s easy to see they wanted young, beautiful, passionate. It didn’t work. However, Adar worked perfectly. I was VERY moved by the performance of the actor in S2. And it made the nameless hoards of orcs MORE real, unpredictable, and terrifying for me. The fake death of Arondir aside, I loved the Sauron- Adar and Galadriel and Elrond- Adar story. So Many relationships in this show have NO set up for those of us who don’t already know things about this age. Adar is well crafted and well acted. He is clearly an altered elf and that gives the whole story more depth as Galadriel looks on him with both compassion and disgust. And he knows it and gladly turns on her.
Tolkien's recount of how orcs were created is so vile, it can't be even be mentioned in the Rings of Power. Basically Morgoth forcibly interbred elves with pigs as a mockery of the Eldar. IN other words elvin women were tortured and forced to interbred with pigs. As a young reader, that was an incredibly dark and hardcore part of the Silmarillion that struck me as by far the darkest thought Tolkien put to pen, especially that Morgoth found such amusement in the profanity of it. As much as I love Adar, his backstory pales in comparison to JRR's original twisted origin story of the orcs.
Yeah. I'm glad that series, dark enough already, did not show some things according to canon. As two-years tortured Celebrimbor, for example. I wanted more beauty, at least in the imaginary world)
The first casting of Adar was way better than the replacement. Mawle had the sharp facial features that made the character credible as an elf-orc hybrid or proto-orc. He also can act. The new cast only looks like an ugly elf - which is not that surprising in a series in which all elves are ugly looking.
Hembeen gothmog is an incorrect theory. Gothmog is the lord of the Balrog and the most powerful of them in the first age. So if ring of power take place in the second age, he can't become gothmog
It does not need to be canonical. The producers paid for the license to do as they wish. The core content is copyrighted. Why folks don’t get this is beyond me.
I tought Adar was a well written character. Deep backstory, profound motives. While not agreeing to his intentions, you can at least understand why. What disapointed me the most was how many short tempered elves were, especially Galadriel. Living very long lives natually gives you lots wisdom and knowledge, as years passing by don't have the same meaning. This is exactly why the human race is depicted like this: greedy, short tempered and imprevisible. We all want to accomplish something before our time runs out, an there is an urgency to do so as each year is 1/80th of our life (granted we live that long). For an elf, a year is like 1/3000th. You can easily see in the books this ratio. Sauron takes hundreds of years to make his plans, Aragorn having a more laid back and careful approach. Jeez, just look at the ents! Even speaking takes forever, as they forever were there! This alone broke the show for me. This was easy, just follow the recipe. Yet they managed to screw it up hollywood style by ignoring the source material, as they usually do.
Adar isn't canonical, Tolkien wouldn't have written this character this way. Its an interesting idea, but Adar's OP in ways that wouldn't be allowed in Arda. Sauron didn't create the orc, it was Morgoth. There are no immortal orc, Morgoth would have made him a creature of darkness, unable to tolerate sunlight. Morgoth hated light and wanted to destroy it, leaving the world a place of eternal darkness. The corruption would have been much more apparent, he would have mutated or animalistic features, tumors, oozing sores.
I like the addition of Adar to the story. The idea of a father figure to the orcs and trying to live their own lives without conflict is a crazy twist. Imagine orcs living amongst everyone else in middle earth with some sort of peace 🤷♂️🤔
I feel like the way Morgoth corrupted Salron was too corrupt his idea of a perfect world. So, the perfection that he sought before being tainted was a harmonious one. After corruption it became one of absolute rule. both give a peaceful perfect world ... from their own point of view. PS. Morgoth was a sick thing wasn't he lol. when is he gona hit screen. I want to see the giant war with all the Balrog's running around.
I think he's the most dimensionally written character in the series. I feel the others, especially Galadriel, are written very flat with little to no complexity.
I absolutely cannot understand why there are people who seriously believe that Adar and Galadriel were in love. He wanted Galadriel's tongue cut out and her head put on a pike!!! There is also the scene in the barn where Galadriel speaks very disparagingly and heartlessly to Adar. She was about to stab him. Adar was only friendly to her because he wanted information about the Nenya ring. And working with Galadriel increases the chances of destroying Sauron. In the end she just stands there and watches as Adar is killed by his orcs. This means that Galadriel doesn't care what happens to Adar. Do you do this with someone you are in love with??? Absolutely NOT! I wonder if people had the sound off while watching the series?
It wasn't just "a lot of the narrative" was wrong. It was all wrong. Galadriel's character, the order of events, the events themselves, the timing (the Second Age lasted about 3500 or so years, all told - Edit: corrected thanks to a "very polite" responder - I'd mistakingly said 6000 years) and the forging of the Rings of Power took centuries around the middle part of the Age, and the people named in Numenor weren't on the scene until the last 500 years of the age - thousands of years out. The whole thing is a mess and a half, so: speculating on some no-named-no-body (canonically) is utterly pointless. I'd not even call rings of power fan-fiction, and the creators of that waste of time aren't even fans. Orcs are corrupted elves that Morgoth kidnapped just after their awakening in the Time of the Trees, before the Sun, and at the very dawn on the "First Age". There is no creation of more orcs after this. Any power used that "expends" that power - divorcing the power from the source - can only happen once. It is why the two Trees cannot be remade unless their captured light in the Three Silmarils be used. Or why Sauron couldn't just make another "One Ring" when his was lost. Morgoth expended a LOT of his power to corrupt Ents into Trolls, Elves into Orcs, crossbreed wild animals into Dragons, etc. Once done, it was DONE. Couldn't happen again. Saruman only CROSS bred Orcs and Goblin-men (another cross breed) to make Uruk Hai. He didn't have the power to MAKE a new corrupted people. No Maiar could. The Valar (Morgoth being THE most powerful with his full native power at his forming) could, but after he'd done all he could to curse the whole of Arda with his Shadow, he was actually LESS powerful than most other Ainur with native strength. He could only have mastery over others through his power now dwelling in his controlled creatures and servants. Once defeated and thrust through the Doors of Night, he was severed from control over his used-power. So... yeah: this "elf" corrupted into a part-Orc? Nope. Not unless he's one of the first born Elves from the dawn of the First Age who Morgoth somehow forgot to fully transform... so, again... nope.
@@Beware...OblivionIsAtHand Ah, so one small mistake is enough to invalidate it all. My bad. I was out by 2559 years. The point is still valid - what happened during the middle of the Age (Forging of the Rings) was WELL before those named Numenoreans in the show appeared.
so he refers to the other orcs as his kids but he's not actually their dad then? I believe there's a scene from the series where he talks about the origin of the first orcs
I think the adaptation is cool, does it have flaws most definetly and it needs a little work but it's cool to see all these characters on screen and also it's nice to have a live action setting of city's like Eregion
The Dunedain are the descendents of the Faithful Numenoreans yes. Elendil and Isildur's line. Since they all stem from Elros, Elrond's brother, and thus from ultimately Beren, Luthien and Melian, they have very magical blood and that's why for example, even thousands of years down the line, Aragorn is very long-lived, tall and strong.
Anyone who dislikes The Rings Of Power because it isn't canonical but they still absolutely adore The Lord Of The Rings films, which made loads of stuff up and left loads out. You're just losers. It's an amazing show. Watch it and enjoy it, stop trying to pick faults.
It's a bad show no thanks! :) Tolkien's world deserves much better than this fanfic garbage! To be a fan of something and not just some filthy casual you care about something...and if you see that the 'new entry' is just crap..then you criticise..it';s simple as that...get in in that thick skulls of yours! I don't enjoy the show just because I see how bad it is and how badly it twists the source material and the world and setting and characters! If you want you can enjoy it it's none of my business what you like but being a fan of something and see it garbled like that...don't expect that said fan will like it!
Exactly! Well said! Stop being such know-it-alls and just enjoy and let others enjoy it. Keep critisizing it like this and there won’t be more seasons of this show, nor any other show. No producer in their right mind will have another shot at such a show if it’s going to be such a minefield with these so called fans.
@@lila7-7 who the f...k stops you from enjoying?! You weirdoes! Enjoy it and shut up! But don't expect actual fans to like it when it butchers the thing they are fan of!
I wondered why they didn't show for example Celebrimbor more like Adar the more he was seduced by Anatar. They could have also played up how meeting Adar a couple times it could have helped Galadriel decide to not use her ring with darkness
This whole thing with Adar...it makes no sense within the context of this world!!! He should look WAAAAY more orcish, way more hideous and physically altered...in this appearance he doesn't really look like an Orc would even a first generation of that race!!! He should be way more like creepy in between stage or like a mutation of sorts!!! In lore we're told that Morgoht used the "fullness of his power in remodelling and corrupting" these captured Elves!!! So they should be so physically changed through that power that naturally their offspring would be only perpetuating that. Also as one of the first captured Elves turned and twisted into Orcs he would be way less impressive than the Noldor or Aman and the like....living in the Undying Lands gave the Elves actual boost of power and grandeur. In this form he basiclaly is no different than simply a scarred somewhat mutilated elf....no different than many elf thralls in Morgoth's dungeons or somelike like Gwindor who by long torture and trauma got physically weakened and 'aged' almost....this does NOT look like an orc that would be bearing orc children :). He is way too different to be literal father of Orcs...his children would not look like Orcs!
And souron didnt get abused by morgoth her didnt get bullied he chose to become eveil u know a fallen angel reference but yeah Jeff beezos see things and can improve it and make it better😂😂 narcissm at its finest

Zealots to a high expectation standard as if they know better than anyone and act high and mighty as if they know best and other things are shit to their opinions

I bet Adar is actually Celeborn
@@bdleo300 Yoooooo, love this theory
I like the addition of Adar to the story. The idea of a father figure to the orcs and trying to live their own lives without conflict is a crazy twist. Imagine orcs living amongst everyone else in middle earth with some sort of peace 🤷♂️🤔
there were those band of orcs in mordor that just wanted to quit the pillaging business and settle down.
I agree👍it works well on the show and gives a different perspective to the orcs.
Morgoth is gone . That was end of 1st age so are the balrogs apart from durins bane
@@christopherr3676 I know he is gone. I meant seeing the wars of the first age.
@@williamwhitney7395 fair enough . Dont know if they would do the battle justice tbh anyway
Noté algo similar en sus entrevistas recientes. Estaba mucho más cínico en la última deposición el congreso. Bienvenido! 😊
Wild theory: Adar is Celeborn.
I think he's the most dimensionally written character in the series. I feel the others, especially Galadriel, are written very flat with little to no complexity.
the best character so far ...which was too good to be kept alive ...
So much for that love story
Thank Eru 😅
Prime should have let this crew make Wheel of Time!!!
Has there ever been a “good” orc? Or one that fought for good? Or maybe a redeemed orc?
AS WE COME TO THE END OF THE SECOND SEASON THE COMPRESSION BECOMES TIRING ON THE EARS
First the elf must willingly choose to transform into an orc. Morgoth made a deal to use them with something much stronger than he.
Nope. Not unless he's one of the first born Elves from the dawn of the First Age who Morgoth somehow forgot to fully transform... so, again... nope.
I stopped reading when you say that the second age lasted 6000 years. If you don't have a fucking clue, your complaints are zero value for everyone.
@@Beware...OblivionIsAtHand Ah, so one small mistake is enough to invalidate it all. My bad. I was out by 2559 years. The point is still valid - what happened during the middle of the Age (Forging of the Rings) was WELL before those named Numenoreans in the show appeared.
@@Beware...OblivionIsAtHand But thank you anyway - correction made. Have a nice day.
so he refers to the other orcs as his kids but he's not actually their dad then? I believe there's a scene from the series where he talks about the origin of the first orcs
Gothmog was Morgoths first Balrog not an orc
No they have some of the rights not all
I think the adaptation is cool, does it have flaws most definetly and it needs a little work but it's cool to see all these characters on screen and also it's nice to have a live action setting of city's like Eregion
Well. Someone had to say it already 😅
Adar must never be Celeborn! This is completely absurd and unrealistic!
Adar is the dark elf Eol. Both have the most similarities
Are these Numenorians part of The Dunedain or are they just leaving all that lore out??
The Dunedain are the descendents of the Faithful Numenoreans yes. Elendil and Isildur's line. Since they all stem from Elros, Elrond's brother, and thus from ultimately Beren, Luthien and Melian, they have very magical blood and that's why for example, even thousands of years down the line, Aragorn is very long-lived, tall and strong.
Thinking Isildur will be blamed for Adar's death.
WHY did they choose to use CGI for his face in that *one* scene
Anyone who dislikes The Rings Of Power because it isn't canonical but they still absolutely adore The Lord Of The Rings films, which made loads of stuff up and left loads out. You're just losers. It's an amazing show. Watch it and enjoy it, stop trying to pick faults.
Agree, The Lord of the rings movies are flawed to
But they are waaaaay less flawed than the Rimgs of Shit
Adar is Galadriel husband. He put the ring on and turned into an elf
I wondered why they didn't show for example Celebrimbor more like Adar the more he was seduced by Anatar. They could have also played up how meeting Adar a couple times it could have helped Galadriel decide to not use her ring with darkness
eh no. the physical corruption came via torture, chemical experimentation, & exposure to evil for an age. no way on the same scale
Well that's how Adar dies.
Thought that was Eren!
Is he an Orc? or Is he a Darkelves?

People who keep to shitting on screen adaptations are zealots for books and refuse to get it out of their head to just accept the fact that this is going to happen. Book zealots look to screen adaptations as lesser beings as do many who tale to PC gaming who look down upon consple gamers. Zealots to a high expectation standard as if they know better than anyone and act high and mighty as if they know best and other things are shit to their opinions

Why did they recast Adar?
The first actor wanted to do other things so opted to not do the second season.
